1 Cododd Jacob ei olwg ac edrych, a dyna lle'r oedd Esau yn dod, a phedwar cant o ddynion gydag ef. Rhannodd Jacob y plant rhwng Lea a Rachel a'r ddwy forwyn,
1Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau was coming, and with him four hundred men. He divided the children between Leah, Rachel, and the two handmaids.
2 a gosododd y morynion a'u plant ar y blaen, yna Lea a'i phlant y tu l iddynt, a Rachel a Joseff yn olaf.
2He put the handmaids and their children in front, Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph at the rear.
3 Cerddodd yntau o'u blaen ac ymgrymu i'r llawr seithwaith wrth nesu at ei frawd.
3He himself passed over in front of them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
4 Ond rhedodd Esau i'w gyfarfod, a'i gofleidio a rhoi ei freichiau am ei wddf a'i gusanu, ac wylodd y ddau.
4Esau ran to meet him, embraced him, fell on his neck, kissed him, and they wept.
5 Yna cododd Esau ei olwg a gweld y gwragedd a'r plant, a gofynnodd, "Pwy yw'r rhain sydd gyda thi?" Atebodd yntau, "Dyma'r plant y mae Duw o'i ffafr wedi eu rhoi i'th was."
5He lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, “Who are these with you?” He said, “The children whom God has graciously given your servant.”
6 Yna nesaodd y morynion a'u plant, ac ymgrymu;
6Then the handmaids came near with their children, and they bowed themselves.
7 nesaodd Lea hefyd a'i phlant, ac ymgrymu; ac yn olaf daeth Joseff a Rachel, ac ymgrymu.
7Leah also and her children came near, and bowed themselves. After them, Joseph came near with Rachel, and they bowed themselves.
8 Dywedodd Esau, "Beth a fwriedi gyda'r holl fintai hon a gyfarfm?" Atebodd yntau, "Ennill ffafr yng ngolwg f'arglwydd."
8Esau said, “What do you mean by all this company which I met?” Jacob said, “To find favor in the sight of my lord.”
9 Ond dywedodd Esau, "Y mae gennyf ddigon, fy mrawd; cadw'r hyn sydd gennyt i ti dy hun."
9Esau said, “I have enough, my brother; let that which you have be yours.”
10 Yna dywedodd Jacob, "Na, os cefais ffafr yn d'olwg, cymer fy anrheg o'm llaw; y mae gweld dy wyneb fel gweld wyneb Duw, gan dy fod wedi fy nerbyn.
10Jacob said, “Please, no, if I have now found favor in your sight, then receive my present at my hand, because I have seen your face, as one sees the face of God, and you were pleased with me.
11 Cymer yn awr fy rhodd a ddygwyd i ti, oherwydd bu Duw yn raslon i mi, ac y mae gennyf ddigon." Ac am ei fod yn erfyn arno, cymerodd yntau'r rhodd.
11Please take the gift that I brought to you, because God has dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough.” He urged him, and he took it.
12 Yna dywedodd Esau, "Cychwynnwn ar ein taith, ac af finnau o'th flaen."
12Esau said, “Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before you.”
13 Ond dywedodd Jacob wrtho, "Y mae f'arglwydd yn gwybod fod y plant yn eiddil, a bod y defaid a'r gwartheg magu yn fy ngofal. Os cnt eu gyrru yn rhy galed un diwrnod, bydd yr holl braidd farw.
13Jacob said to him, “My lord knows that the children are tender, and that the flocks and herds with me have their young, and if they overdrive them one day, all the flocks will die.
14 Aed f'arglwydd o flaen ei was, a dilynaf finnau'n araf, yn l gallu'r anifeiliaid sydd o'm blaen a'r plant, nes dod at f'arglwydd i Seir."
14Please let my lord pass over before his servant, and I will lead on gently, according to the pace of the livestock that are before me and according to the pace of the children, until I come to my lord to Seir.”
15 A dywedodd Esau, "Gad imi drefnu i rai o'm dynion fynd gyda thi." Ond atebodd yntau, "Pam, os wyf yn cael ffafr yng ngolwg f'arglwydd?"
15Esau said, “Let me now leave with you some of the folk who are with me.” He said, “Why? Let me find favor in the sight of my lord.”
16 Yna dychwelodd Esau y diwrnod hwnnw ar ei ffordd i Seir.
16So Esau returned that day on his way to Seir.
17 A theithiodd Jacob i Succoth, ac adeiladodd du375? iddo'i hun a gwneud cytiau i'w anifeiliaid; am hynny enwodd y lle Succoth.
17Jacob traveled to Succoth, built himself a house, and made shelters for his livestock. Therefore the name of the place is called Succoth. succoth means shelters or booths.
18 Ar ei daith o Padan Aram, daeth Jacob yn ddiogel i ddinas Sichem yng ngwlad Canaan, a gwersyllodd ger y ddinas.
18Jacob came in peace to the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Paddan Aram; and encamped before the city.
19 Prynodd ddarn o dir gan feibion Hamor tad Sichem, am gant o ddarnau arian,
19He bought the parcel of ground where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem’s father, for one hundred pieces of money.
20 ac wedi gosod ei babell yno, cododd allor a'i henwi El-elohe-israel.
20He erected an altar there, and called it El Elohe Israel. El Elohe Israel means “God, the God of Israel” or “The God of Israel is mighty.”
