Joshua

10

1 Clywodd Adonisedec brenin Jerwsalem i Josua ennill Ai a'i difrodi a gwneud iddi hi a'i brenin yn union fel y gwnaeth i Jericho a'i brenin, a bod trigolion Gibeon wedi gwneud heddwch ag Israel, ac yn byw yn eu mysg.
1Now it happened when Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;
2 Cododd hyn ofn mawr arno, oherwydd yr oedd Gibeon yn ddinas fawr fel un o'r dinasoedd brenhinol; yr oedd, yn wir, yn fwy nag Ai, a'i holl ddynion yn rhyfelwyr praff.
2that they were very afraid, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all its men were mighty.
3 Anfonodd Adonisedec brenin Jerwsalem at Hoham brenin Hebron, Piram brenin Jarmuth, Jaffia brenin Lachis a Debir brenin Eglon, a dweud,
3Therefore Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sent to Hoham king of Hebron, to Piram king of Jarmuth, to Japhia king of Lachish, and to Debir king of Eglon, saying,
4 "Dewch i fyny i'm cynorthwyo i ymosod ar Gibeon am iddi wneud heddwch Josua a'r Israeliaid."
4“Come up to me, and help me, and let us strike Gibeon; for it has made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.”
5 Felly fe ymgynullodd pum brenin yr Amoriaid, sef brenhinoedd Jerwsalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachis ac Eglon, ac aethant hwy a'u holl luoedd i fyny a gwarchae ar Gibeon ac ymosod arni.
5Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their armies, and encamped against Gibeon, and made war against it.
6 Ond anfonodd pobl Gibeon at Josua i'r gwersyll yn Gilgal a dweud, "Paid gwrthod cynorthwyo dy weision, ond brysia i fyny atom i'n hachub a'n helpu, oherwydd y mae holl frenhinoedd yr Amoriaid sy'n byw yn y mynydd-dir wedi ymgasglu yn ein herbyn."
6The men of Gibeon sent to Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, “Don’t abandon your servants! Come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us; for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the hill country have gathered together against us.”
7 Aeth Josua i fyny o Gilgal, a chydag ef bob milwr a'r holl ryfelwyr dewr.
7So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor.
8 A dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrth Josua, "Paid 'u hofni, oherwydd rhoddaf hwy yn dy law; ni fydd neb ohonynt yn sefyll o'th flaen."
8Yahweh said to Joshua, “Don’t fear them, for I have delivered them into your hands. Not a man of them will stand before you.”
9 Daeth Josua arnynt yn ddisymwth, ar l teithio trwy'r nos o Gilgal.
9Joshua therefore came on them suddenly. He went up from Gilgal all night.
10 Yna gyrrodd yr ARGLWYDD hwy ar chwl o flaen Israel ac achosi lladdfa fawr yn eu mysg yn Gibeon, a'u hymlid ar hyd y ffordd i fyny at Beth-horon, a dal i'w taro hyd at Aseca a Macceda.
10Yahweh confused them before Israel, and he killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them by the way of the ascent of Beth Horon, and struck them to Azekah and to Makkedah.
11 Fel yr oeddent yn ffoi o flaen Israel ar lechwedd Beth-horon, bwriodd yr ARGLWYDD arnynt genllysg breision o'r awyr bob cam i Aseca, a buont farw. Bu farw mwy o achos y cenllysg nag a laddwyd gan yr Israeliaid 'r cleddyf.
11It happened, as they fled from before Israel, while they were at the descent of Beth Horon, that Yahweh cast down great stones from the sky on them to Azekah, and they died. There were more who died from the hailstones than who the children of Israel killed with the sword.
12 Y diwrnod y darostyngodd yr ARGLWYDD yr Amoriaid o flaen yr Israeliaid fe ganodd Josua i'r ARGLWYDD yng ngu373?ydd yr Israeliaid: "Haul, aros yn llonydd yn Gibeon, a thithau, leuad, yn nyffryn Ajalon."
12Then Joshua spoke to Yahweh in the day when Yahweh delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel; and he said in the sight of Israel, “Sun, stand still on Gibeon! You, moon, stop in the valley of Aijalon!”
13 Ac arhosodd yr haul yn llonydd, a safodd y lleuad, nes i'r genedl ddial ar ei gelynion. Y mae hyn wedi ei ysgrifennu yn Llyfr Jasar. Safodd yr haul yng nghanol yr wybren, heb frysio i fachludo am ddiwrnod cyfan.
13The sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the nation had avenged themselves of their enemies. Isn’t this written in the book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the midst of the sky, and didn’t hurry to go down about a whole day.
14 Ni fu diwrnod fel hwnnw na chynt nac wedyn, a'r ARGLWYDD yn gwrando ar lais meidrolyn; yn wir, yr ARGLWYDD oedd yn ymladd dros Israel.
14There was no day like that before it or after it, that Yahweh listened to the voice of a man; for Yahweh fought for Israel.
15 Aeth Josua a holl Israel gydag ef yn l i'r gwersyll yn Gilgal.
15Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp to Gilgal.
16 Ond yr oedd y pum brenin hynny wedi ffoi ac ymguddio mewn ogof yn Macceda.
16These five kings fled, and hid themselves in the cave at Makkedah.
17 Pan hysbyswyd Josua iddynt ddarganfod y pum brenin yn ymguddio mewn ogof yn Macceda,
17Joshua was told, saying, “The five kings are found, hidden in the cave at Makkedah.”
18 dywedodd Josua, "Pentyrrwch feini mawrion ar geg yr ogof, a gosodwch ddynion i'w gwylio.
18Joshua said, “Roll large stones to the mouth of the cave, and set men by it to guard them;
19 Peidiwch chwithau sefyllian, ymlidiwch eich gelynion a'u goddiweddyd; peidiwch gadael iddynt gyrraedd eu dinasoedd, gan fod yr ARGLWYDD eich Duw wedi eu rhoi yn eich gafael."
19but don’t stay. Pursue your enemies, and them from the rear. Don’t allow them to enter into their cities; for Yahweh your God has delivered them into your hand.”
20 Er i Josua a'r Israeliaid wneud lladdfa fawr iawn yn eu mysg a'u difa, dihangodd rhai ohonynt a chyrraedd y dinasoedd caerog.
20It happened, when Joshua and the children of Israel had finished killing them with a very great slaughter until they were consumed, and the remnant which remained of them had entered into the fortified cities,
21 Wedi hynny dychwelodd yr holl fyddin yn ddiogel i'r gwersyll at Josua yn Macceda, heb neb yn yngan gair yn erbyn yr Israeliaid.
21that all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace. None moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.
22 Yna dywedodd Josua, "Agorwch geg yr ogof, a dewch 'r pum brenin allan ataf oddi yno."
22Then Joshua said, “Open the mouth of the cave, and bring those five kings out of the cave to me.”
23 Gwnaethant hynny, a dod 'r pum brenin allan ato, sef brenhinoedd Jerwsalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachis ac Eglon.
23They did so, and brought those five kings out of the cave to him: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.
24 Wedi iddynt ddod 'r brenhinoedd hyn allan at Josua, galwodd yntau ar holl wu375?r Israel, a dweud wrth swyddogion y milwyr a fu'n ymdeithio gydag ef, "Dewch yma, gosodwch eich traed ar warrau'r brenhinoedd hyn." Aethant hwythau atynt a gosod eu traed ar eu gwarrau.
24It happened, when they brought those kings out to Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said to the chiefs of the men of war who went with him, “Come near, put your feet on the necks of these kings.” They came near, and put their feet on their necks.
25 Yna dywedodd Josua wrthynt, "Peidiwch ag ofni na brawychu; byddwch yn gryf a dewr, oherwydd fel hyn y gwna'r ARGLWYDD i'r holl elynion y byddwch yn ymladd hwy."
25Joshua said to them, “Don’t be afraid, nor be dismayed. Be strong and courageous, for Yahweh will do this to all your enemies against whom you fight.”
26 Wedi hyn trawodd Josua hwy'n farw a'u crogi ar bum coeden, a buont ynghrog ar y coed hyd yr hwyr.
26Afterward Joshua struck them, put them to death, and hanged them on five trees. They were hanging on the trees until the evening.
27 Adeg machlud haul gorchmynnodd Josua eu tynnu i lawr oddi ar y coed, a bwriwyd hwy i'r ogof y buont yn ymguddio ynddi; gosodasant feini mawrion ar geg yr ogof, lle maent hyd heddiw.
27It happened at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave in which they had hidden themselves, and laid great stones on the mouth of the cave, which remain to this very day.
28 Y diwrnod hwnnw goresgynnodd Josua Macceda a'i tharo hi a'i brenin 'r cleddyf, a lladd pawb oedd ynddi, heb arbed neb; gwnaeth i frenin Macceda fel yr oedd wedi gwneud i frenin Jericho.
28Joshua took Makkedah on that day, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with its king. He utterly destroyed them and all the souls who were in it. He left none remaining. He did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho.
29 Aeth Josua a holl Israel gydag ef yn eu blaen o Macceda i Libna, ac ymosod arni.
29Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, to Libnah, and fought against Libnah.
30 Rhoddodd yr ARGLWYDD hi a'i brenin yn llaw Israel, a thrawodd Josua hi a phawb oedd ynddi 'r cleddyf, heb arbed neb; gwnaeth i'w brenin fel yr oedd wedi gwneud i frenin Jericho.
30Yahweh delivered it also, with its king, into the hand of Israel. He struck it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls who were in it. He left none remaining in it. He did to its king as he had done to the king of Jericho.
31 Aeth Josua a holl Israel gydag ef yn eu blaen o Libna i Lachis, a gwersyllu yn ei herbyn ac ymosod arni.
31Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, to Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it.
32 Rhoddodd yr ARGLWYDD Lachis yn llaw Israel, ac fe'i gorchfygodd hi yr ail ddiwrnod a'i tharo hi a phawb oedd ynddi 'r cleddyf, yn union fel y gwnaeth i Libna.
32Yahweh delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel. He took it on the second day, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with all the souls who were in it, according to all that he had done to Libnah.
33 Yna daeth Horam brenin Geser i fyny i gynorthwyo Lachis, ond trawodd Josua ef a'i fyddin, heb arbed neb.
33Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua struck him and his people, until he had left him none remaining.
34 Aeth Josua a holl Israel gydag ef yn eu blaen o Lachis i Eglon, a gwersyllu yn ei herbyn ac ymosod arni.
34Joshua passed from Lachish, and all Israel with him, to Eglon; and they encamped against it fought against it.
35 Goresgynnodd y bobl hi y diwrnod hwnnw a'i tharo 'r cleddyf a lladd pawb oedd ynddi, yn union fel y gwnaed i Lachis.
35They took it on that day, and struck it with the edge of the sword. He utterly destroyed all the souls who were in it that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.
36 Aeth Josua a holl Israel gydag ef i fyny o Eglon i Hebron, ac ymosod arni.
36Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, to Hebron; and they fought against it.
37 Goresgynnodd hi a tharo 'r cleddyf y ddinas, ei brenin, a'i maestrefi i gyd a phawb oedd ynddynt, heb arbed neb, ond ei difodi hi a phawb oedd ynddi, yn union fel y gwnaeth i Eglon.
37They took it, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with its king and all its cities, and all the souls who were in it. He left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but he utterly destroyed it, and all the souls who were in it.
38 Yna trodd Josua a holl Israel gydag ef i gyfeiriad Debir ac ymosod arni.
38Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir, and fought against it.
39 Goresgynnodd hi a'i brenin a'i maestrefi i gyd, a'u lladd 'r cleddyf a lladd pawb oedd ynddi, heb arbed neb; gwnaeth i Debir a'i brenin fel yr oedd wedi gwneud i Hebron ac i Libna a'i brenin.
39He took it, with its king and all its cities. They struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls who were in it. He left none remaining. As he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to its king; as he had done also to Libnah, and to its king.
40 Gorchfygodd Josua y wlad i gyd: y mynydd-dir, y Negef, y Seffela a'r llechweddau, a hefyd eu holl frenhinoedd, heb arbed neb, ond lladd pob perchen anadl, fel y gorchmynnodd yr ARGLWYDD, Duw Israel.
40So Joshua struck all the land, the hill country, and the South, and the lowland, and the slopes, and all their kings. He left none remaining, but he utterly destroyed all that breathed, as Yahweh, the God of Israel, commanded.
41 Trawodd Josua hwy o Cades-barnea hyd at Gasa, ac o wlad Gosen i gyd hyd at Gibeon.
41Joshua struck them from Kadesh Barnea even to Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even to Gibeon.
42 Goresgynnodd Josua yr holl frenhinoedd hyn a'u tiroedd mewn un cyrch am fod yr ARGLWYDD, Duw Israel, yn ymladd dros Israel.
42Joshua took all these kings and their land at one time, because Yahweh, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.
43 Yna fe ddychwelodd Josua a holl Israel gydag ef i'r gwersyll yn Gilgal.
43Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp to Gilgal.
