Joshua

2

1 O Sittim anfonodd Josua fab Nun ddau ysbwr yn ddirgel. Dywedodd wrthynt, "Ewch i ysbo'r wlad, yn arbennig Jericho." Aethant hwythau, a chyrraedd tu375? rhyw butain o'r enw Rahab, a lletya yno. Dywedwyd wrth frenin Jericho,
1Joshua the son of Nun secretly sent two men out of Shittim as spies, saying, “Go, view the land, including Jericho.” They went and came into the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab, and slept there.
2 "Edrych! Y mae rhai o'r Israeliaid wedi cyrraedd yma heno i chwilio'r wlad."
2The king of Jericho was told, “Behold, men of the children of Israel came in here tonight to spy out the land.”
3 Anfonodd brenin Jericho at Rahab a dweud, "Tro allan y dynion a ddaeth atat i'th du375?, oherwydd wedi dod i ysbo'r holl wlad y maent."
3The king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered into your house; for they have come to spy out all the land.”
4 Wedi i'r wraig gymryd y ddau ddyn a'u cuddio, dywedodd, "Do, fe ddaeth y dynion ataf, ond ni wyddwn o ble'r oeddent;
4The woman took the two men and hid them. Then she said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I didn’t know where they came from.
5 a chyda'r nos, pan oedd y porth ar fin cau, aeth y dynion allan. Ni wn i ble'r aethant, ond brysiwch ar eu hl; yr ydych yn sicr o'u dal."
5It happened about the time of the shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out. Where the men went, I don’t know. Pursue them quickly; for you will overtake them.”
6 Yr oedd hi wedi mynd 'r dynion i fyny ar y to, a'u cuddio 'r planhigion llin a oedd ganddi'n rhesi yno.
6But she had brought them up to the roof, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order on the roof.
7 Aeth y dynion a oedd yn eu hymlid ar eu hl hyd at rydau'r Iorddonen; a chaewyd y porth, wedi i'r ymlidwyr fynd allan.
7The men pursued them the way to the Jordan to the fords: and as soon as those who pursued them had gone out, they shut the gate.
8 Cyn i'r ysbwyr gysgu, aeth Rahab i fyny ar y to,
8Before they had laid down, she came up to them on the roof;
9 a dweud wrthynt, "Gwn fod yr ARGLWYDD wedi rhoi'r wlad i chwi, a bod eich arswyd wedi syrthio arnom, a holl drigolion y wlad mewn gwewyr o'ch plegid.
9and she said to the men, “I know that Yahweh has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you.
10 Oherwydd clywsom fel y sychodd yr ARGLWYDD ddyfroedd y Mr Coch o'ch blaen pan ddaethoch allan o'r Aifft, ac fel y bu ichwi ddifodi Sihon ac Og, dau frenin yr Amoriaid y tu hwnt i'r Iorddonen.
10For we have heard how Yahweh dried up the water of the Red Sea before you, when you came out of Egypt; and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and to Og, whom you utterly destroyed.
11 Pan glywsom hyn, suddodd ein calonnau, ac nid oes hyder gan neb i'ch wynebu, oherwydd y mae'r ARGLWYDD eich Duw chwi yn Dduw yn y nefoedd uchod ac ar y ddaear isod.
11As soon as we had heard it, our hearts melted, neither did there remain any more spirit in any man, because of you: for Yahweh your God, he is God in heaven above, and on earth beneath.
12 Am hynny, tyngwch i mi yn enw'r ARGLWYDD, am i mi wneud caredigrwydd chwi, y gwnewch chwithau'r un modd 'm teulu i; rhowch imi sicrwydd
12Now therefore, please swear to me by Yahweh, since I have dealt kindly with you, that you also will deal kindly with my father’s house, and give me a true token;
13 y cadwch yn fyw fy nhad a'm mam, fy mrodyr a'm chwiorydd, a phawb sy'n perthyn iddynt, ac yr arbedwch ein bywydau rhag angau."
13and that you will save alive my father, my mother, my brothers, and my sisters, and all that they have, and will deliver our lives from death.”
14 Dywedodd y dynion wrthi, "Byddwn yn barod i farw yn eich lle, dim ond i chwi beidio datgelu'n cyfrinach; pan fydd yr ARGLWYDD wedi rhoi inni'r wlad, fe wnawn garedigrwydd a thegwch thi."
14The men said to her, “Our life for yours, if you don’t talk about this business of ours; and it shall be, when Yahweh gives us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you.”
15 Yna gollyngodd Rahab hwy i lawr drwy'r ffenestr ar raff, oherwydd yr oedd ei thu375? ar fur y ddinas, a hithau'n byw ar y mur.
15Then she let them down by a cord through the window; for her house was on the side of the wall, and she lived on the wall.
16 Dywedodd wrthynt, "Ewch tua'r mynydd, rhag i'r rhai sy'n eich ymlid daro arnoch; cuddiwch yno dridiau, nes i'r ymlidwyr ddychwelyd, ac wedyn ewch eich ffordd eich hun."
16She said to them, “Go to the mountain, lest the pursuers find you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers have returned. Afterward, you may go your way.”
17 Dywedodd y dynion wrthi, "Byddwn yn rhydd o'r llw y gwnaethost inni ei dyngu,
17The men said to her, “We will be guiltless of this your oath which you have made us to swear.
18 pan fyddwn yn dod i mewn i'r wlad, os na fyddi wedi rhwymo'r edau ysgarlad hon yn y ffenestr y gollyngaist ni drwyddi, ac wedi galw ynghyd i'r tu375? dy dad a'th fam, dy frodyr a'th deulu i gyd.
18Behold, when we come into the land, you shall bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which you used to let us down. You shall gather to yourself into the house your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your father’s household.
19 Pwy bynnag a allan trwy ddrws dy du375?, bydd yn gyfrifol am ei waed ei hun, a byddwn ni'n ddieuog; ond pwy bynnag a fydd gyda thi yn y tu375?, byddwn ni'n gyfrifol am ei waed os codir llaw yn ei erbyn.
19It shall be that whoever goes out of the doors of your house into the street, his blood will be on his head, and we will be guiltless. Whoever is with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand is on him.
20 Os datgeli ein cyfrinach, byddwn yn rhydd o'r llw y gwnaethost inni ei dyngu iti."
20But if you talk about this business of ours, then we shall be guiltless of your oath which you have made us to swear.”
21 Atebodd hithau, "Rwy'n cytuno"; ac anfonodd hwy ar eu taith. Wedi iddynt fynd, rhwymodd yr edau ysgarlad yn y ffenestr.
21She said, “According to your words, so be it.” She sent them away, and they departed. She tied the scarlet line in the window.
22 Aethant hwythau, a chyrraedd y mynyddoedd ac aros yno dridiau, nes i'r ymlidwyr ddychwelyd.
22They went, and came to the mountain, and stayed there three days, until the pursuers had returned. The pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but didn’t find them.
23 Bu'r ymlidwyr yn chwilio amdanynt bob cam o'r ffordd, ond heb eu cael. Yna daeth y ddau i lawr o'r mynyddoedd yn eu hl, a chroesi drosodd at Josua fab Nun ac adrodd wrtho bopeth a ddigwyddodd iddynt,
23Then the two men returned, descended from the mountain, passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun; and they told him all that had happened to them.
24 a dweud, "Yn wir y mae'r ARGLWYDD wedi rhoi'r holl wlad yn ein dwylo, ac y mae'r trigolion i gyd mewn gwewyr o'n plegid."
24They said to Joshua, “Truly Yahweh has delivered into our hands all the land. Moreover, all the inhabitants of the land melt away before us.”
