1بعد تمام مردم اسرائیل در حضور داود در حِبرون جمع شده به او گفتند: «ما همگی رگ و خون تو هستیم،
1Then all Israel gathered themselves to David unto Hebron, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.
2حتی وقتیکه شائول پادشاه ما بود، تو سپاه ما را در جنگها رهبری کردی و خداوند، خدای تو بتو فرمود: تو چوپان قوم برگزیدۀ من، اسرائیل خواهی بود و پیشوای آن ها خواهی شد.»
2And moreover in time past, even when Saul was king, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD thy God said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be ruler over my people Israel.
3پس تمام سرکردگان قوم اسرائیل پیش داود در حبرون آمدند و در آنجا داود در حضور خداوند با آن ها پیمان بست و آن ها داود را قراریکه خداوند به سموئیل وعده فرموده بود به عنوان پادشاه اسرائیل مسح کردند.
3Therefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD by Samuel.
4آنگاه داود و همۀ قوم اسرائیل به اورشلیم رفتند. (نام آنجا قبلاً یبوس بود، زیرا یبوسیان در آنجا زندگی می کردند.)
4And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land.
5اما یبوسیان مانع آمدن داود شده گفتند: «تو در اینجا داخل شده نمی توانی.» با آنهم داود قلعۀ سهیون را که پسانتر به شهر داود مشهور شد، فتح کرد
5And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come hither. Nevertheless David took the castle of Zion, which is the city of David.
6و به مردان خود گفت: «اولین کسیکه یبوسیان را مغلوب کند، سرکرده و فرمانده سپاه می شود.» یوآب، پسر زِرویه اولتر از همه دست به حمله زد و آن مقام را به دست آورد.
6And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief.
7داود در همان قلعه سکونت اختیار کرد، بنابران آنجا را شهر داود نامیدند.
7And David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of David.
8داود اطراف شهر را وسعت داد و یوآب بقیۀ شهر را دوباره آباد کرد.
8And he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
9داود در قدرت و شهرت معروف شد، زیرا خداوند قادر مطلق با او بود.
9So David waxed greater and greater: for the LORD of hosts was with him.
10اینها نامهای شجاعترین مردانی هستند که با کمک مردم اسرائیل سلطنت داود را تقویه کردند و نیرو بخشیدند، تا او قرار وعدۀ خداوند پادشاه شان شود:
10These also are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, and with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the LORD concerning Israel.
11یَشُبعام، پسر حَکونی سرکردۀ سه فرمانده عالیرتبۀ نظامی بود. او یکبار سه صد نفر را با شمشیر کشت.
11And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had; Jashobeam, an Hachmonite, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain by him at one time.
12بعد از او اَلِعازار، پسر دودوی اَخُوخِی، یکی از آن سه مرد دلاور بود.
12And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighties.
13وقتیکه سپاه فلسطینی ها در فَسدَمیم برای جنگ جمع شده بود، او همراه داود در آنجا بود. او عساکر اسرائیل را که در یک قطعه زمین پُر از جَو بودند، دید که از سپاه فلسطینی ها فرار می کنند،
13He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.
14اما او در همان زمین پابرجا ایستاد و از آن دفاع کرد و عساکر دشمن را بقتل رساند و خداوند اسرائیل را به پیروزی بزرگی نایل ساخت.
14And they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Philistines; and the LORD saved them by a great deliverance.
15یکبار دیگر سه نفر از سی فرمانده نظامی به صخره ای در مغارۀ عدولام پیش داود رفتند. در عین حال اردوی فلسطینی ها در وادی رفائیم موضع گرفته بودند.
15Now three of the thirty captains went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the host of the Philistines encamped in the valley of Rephaim.
16داود در قلعه بود و یک عده سربازان فلسطینی ها در شهر بیت لحم بودند.
16And David was then in the hold, and the Philistines' garrison was then at Bethlehem.
17داود آرزو کرد و گفت: «ای کاش کسی می بود که کمی آب از چاهی که بلب دروازۀ بیت لحم است، برایم می آورد!»
17And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, that is at the gate!
18آنگاه آن سه مرد شجاع رفتند، صف اردوی فلسطینی ها را شگافته از چاه لب دروازۀ بیت لحم آب کشیدند و برای داود بردند. اما داود آب را ننوشید و آنرا برای خداوند ریخت
18And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to the LORD.
19و گفت: «خدا نکند که من این آب را بنوشم. آیا روا است که خون این مردان را بنوشم؟ زیرا آن ها حیات خود را بخطر انداختند و آنرا برایم آوردند.» بنابران، از خوردن آن خودداری کرد. این بود کارروائی های آن سه مرد دلاور.
19And said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.
20ابیشای، برادر یوآب سرکردۀ آن سی نفر فرمانده نظامی بود. او با نیزۀ خود سه صد نفر را کشت و مثل آن سه نفر شهرت پیدا کرد.
20And Abishai the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three: for lifting up his spear against three hundred, he slew them, and had a name among the three.
21به همین خاطر، از بین آن سی فرمانده نظامی مقامش بلندتر و سرکردۀ آن ها شد، اما به پایۀ آن سه نفر نمی رسید.
21Of the three, he was more honorable than the two; for he was their captain: howbeit he attained not to the first three.
22بنایا، پسر یَهویاداع، که پدرش یک مرد شجاع قَبصئیلی بود، کار های مهم و ارزنده ای انجام داده بود. او دو نفر از بهترین مردان موابی را بقتل رساند. در یک روزیکه برف می بارید در یک غار داخل شد و شیری را کشت.
22Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done many acts; he slew two lionlike men of Moab: also he went down and slew a lion in a pit in a snowy day.
23او همچنان یک مرد مصری را که شخصی بسیار قوی و بلندی قد او دو و نیم متر بود کشت. آن مرد مصری نیزه ای به اندازۀ چوب کارگاه بافندگی در دست داشت. بنایا با یک چوبدست به مقابلۀ او رفت، نیزۀ او را از دستش ربود و او را با نیزۀ خودش بقتل رساند.
23And he slew an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian's hand was a spear like a weaver's beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.
24با این کارها شهرت بنایا زیادتر از آن سی نفر شد،
24These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among the three mighties.
25اما بازهم به پایۀ آن سه نفر نمی رسید و داود او را بحیث محافظ شخصی خود مقرر کرد.
25Behold, he was honorable among the thirty, but attained not to the first three: and David set him over his guard.
26مأمورین دیگر که در شجاعت شهرت داشتند، اینها بودند: عَسائیل، برادر یوآب؛ اَلحانان، پسر دودوی بیت لحمی؛
26Also the valiant men of the armies were, Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,
27شَموت هَروری، حالَز فِلونی؛ عیلای اَخُوخِی؛
27Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,
28عیرا، پسر عِقیِش تَقوعی؛ ابی عَزَر عَناتوتی؛
28Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abiezer the Antothite,
29سِبکای حوشاتی؛ عیلای اَخُوخِی؛
29Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,
30مَهرای نِطوفاتی؛ حِلِد، پسر بَعنۀ نِطوفاتی؛
30Maharai the Netophathite, Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite,
31اتای، پسر ریبای (از جبعۀ بنیامین)؛ بنایای فِرعاتونی؛
31Ithai the son of Ribai of Gibeah, that pertained to the children of Benjamin, Benaiah the Pirathonite,
32حورای (از درۀ جاعَش)؛ ابی ئیل عَرُباتی؛
32Hurai of the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite,
33عَزموت بَحرومی؛ الیَحبای شَعَلبونی؛
33Azmaveth the Baharumite, Eliahba the Shaalbonite,
34هاشَم جِزونی؛ یُوناتان، پسر شاجای هَراری؛
34The sons of Hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan the son of Shage the Hararite,
35اخیام، پسر ساکار هراری؛ الیفال، پسر اُور؛
35Ahiam the son of Sacar the Hararite, Eliphal the son of Ur,
36حافر مَکیراتی؛ اخیای فِلونی؛
36Hepher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite,
37حِزرون کَرمَلی؛ نَعرای، پسر اَزُبای؛
37Hezro the Carmelite, Naarai the son of Ezbai,
38یوئیل، برادر ناتان؛ مِبحار، پسر هَجری؛
38Joel the brother of Nathan, Mibhar the son of Haggeri,
39صالق عَمونی؛ نحرای بِیروتی (سلاح بردار یوآب، پسر زِرویه)؛
39Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Berothite, the armourbearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah,
40عیرای یتری؛ حارَب یتری؛
40Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,
41اوریای حِتی؛ زاباد، پسر اَحلای؛
41Uriah the Hittite, Zabad the son of Ahlai,
42عَدینا، پسر شیزای رؤبینی (سرکردۀ رؤبینیان) و سی نفر همراهان او؛
42Adina the son of Shiza the Reubenite, a captain of the Reubenites, and thirty with him,
43حانان، پسر مَعکه؛ یهوشافاتِ مِتان؛
43Hanan the son of Maachah, and Joshaphat the Mithnite,
44عُزیای عَشتاروتی؛ شاماع و یَعُوئیل، پسران حونام عروعیری؛
44Uzzia the Ashterathite, Shama and Jehiel the sons of Hothan the Aroerite,
45یَدیعئیل، پسر شِمری و برادرش، یُوخای تیصی؛
45Jediael the son of Shimri, and Joha his brother, the Tizite,
46اَلِی ئیل، از مَحُویم؛ یَریبای و یوشُوبا، پسران اَلناعَم؛ یِتمَۀ موابی؛اَلِی ئیل، عوبید و یَعسی ئیلِ مَسوباتی.
46Eliel the Mahavite, and Jeribai, and Joshaviah, the sons of Elnaam, and Ithmah the Moabite,
47اَلِی ئیل، عوبید و یَعسی ئیلِ مَسوباتی.
47Eliel, and Obed, and Jasiel the Mesobaite.
