1وقتی رَحُبعام وارد اورشلیم شد، لشکری را که متشکل از یکصد و هشتاد هزار نفر از مردان جنگ آزمودۀ یَهُودا و بنیامین بودند مجهز کرد تا بجنگ اسرائیل بروند و سلطنت را دوباره برای رَحُبعام به دست آورند.
1And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he gathered of the house of Judah and Benjamin an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against Israel, that he might bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.
2اما خداوند به شِمَعیه نبی فرمود:
2But the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
3«به رَحُبعام، پسر سلیمان بگو که خداوند چنین می فرماید:
3Speak unto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,
4تو نباید با برادرانت جنگ کنی. همگی را بخانه های شان برگردان، زیرا شورش و قیام آن ها به ارادۀ من صورت گرفته است.» پس آن ها از فرمان خداوند اطاعت کرده به جنگ یَرُبعام نرفتند.
4Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren: return every man to his house: for this thing is done of me. And they obeyed the words of the LORD, and returned from going against Jeroboam.
5رَحُبعام در اورشلیم ماند و برای دفاع از یَهُودا این شهرهای مستحکم و حصاردار را آباد کرد:
5And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities for defense in Judah.
6بیت لحم، عیتام، تَقوع،
6He built even Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
7بیت صور، سوکوه، عدولام،
7And Bethzur, and Shoco, and Adullam,
8جَت، مریشه، زیف،
8And Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
9اَدورایم، لاکیش، عزیقه،
9And Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
10زُرعه، اَیَلون و حِبرون. این شهرها در سرزمین یَهُودا و بنیامین واقع بودند.
10And Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin fenced cities.
11قلعه های مستحکمی هم در آن ها ساخت و هر کدام ذریعۀ یک عده محافظین مراقبت می شد و دارای ذخایر غذا، روغن و شراب بود.
11And he fortified the strong holds, and put captains in them, and store of victual, and of oil and wine.
12و در اسلحه خانه های همۀ آن ها سپر و نیزه ذخیره کرد و شهرها را از هر جهت استحکام بخشید. به این ترتیب، او قبایل یَهُودا و بنیامین را تحت فرمان خود نگهداشت.
12And in every several city he put shields and spears, and made them exceeding strong, having Judah and Benjamin on his side.
13اما کاهنان و لاویان از شهرهای قبایل دیگر، خانه و دارائی خود را ترک کردند و به یَهُودا و اورشلیم آمدند. زیرا یَرُبعام و پسرانش آن ها را از وظایف شان بعنوان کاهنان خداوند برطرف کردند
13And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel resorted to him out of all their coasts.
14و بعوض آن ها کاهنان شخصی خود را در معابد، برای بتهای اجنه و گوساله تعیین کردند.
14For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest's office unto the LORD:
15مردمان دیگر هم از همه قبایل اسرائیل که خواستار و طالب خداوند، خدای اسرائیل بودند، بدنبال آن ها برای ادای قربانی بحضور خداوند، خدای اجداد شان به اورشلیم آمدند.
15And he ordained him priests for the high places, and for the devils, and for the calves which he had made.
16به سلطنت یَهُودا استحکام بخشیدند و به این ترتیب، آن ها در استحکام سلطنت رَحُبعام کمک کردند. رَحُبعام، پسر سلیمان برای سه سال در آرامش و امنیت بسر برد. در طی همین مدت سه سال آن ها مثل زمان داود و سلیمان راه راست خداوند را تعقیب نمودند.
16And after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the LORD God of Israel came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the LORD God of their fathers.
17بعد رَحُبعام با مَحَلَت، دختر یَریموت عروسی کرد. (یَریموت یکی از پسران داود بود که زنش، اَبِیحایَل او را بدنیا آورد. اَبِیحایَل دختر اِلیاب و نواسۀ یِسی بود.)
17So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years: for three years they walked in the way of David and Solomon.
18مَحَلَت صاحب سه پسر شد بنامهای یعوش، شَمریا و زَهَم.
18And Rehoboam took him Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David to wife, and Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;
19سپس رَحُبعام با مَعکه، دختر ابشالوم ازدواج کرد و او اَبِیا، عَتای، زیزا و شلومیت را بدنیا آورد.
19Which bare him children; Jeush, and Shamariah, and Zaham.
20رَحُبعام هجده زن و شصت کنیز داشت و از آن ها صاحب بیست و هشت پسر و شصت دختر شد. او مَعکه، دختر ابشالوم را زیادتر از همه زنان خود دوست داشت
20And after her he took Maachah the daughter of Absalom; which bare him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
21و پسرش، اَبِیا را بحیث ولیعهد خود تعیین کرد.رَحُبعام با فراست و کاردانی مسئولیت های هر کدام از پسران خود را در شهرهای مختلف یَهُودا و بنیامین تعیین نمود. معاشی هم برای مصارف شان وضع کرد و همچنین زنهای زیادی برای هر کدام آن ها گرفت.
21And Rehoboam loved Maachah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines: (for he took eighteen wives, and threescore concubines; and begat twenty and eight sons, and threescore daughters.)
22رَحُبعام با فراست و کاردانی مسئولیت های هر کدام از پسران خود را در شهرهای مختلف یَهُودا و بنیامین تعیین نمود. معاشی هم برای مصارف شان وضع کرد و همچنین زنهای زیادی برای هر کدام آن ها گرفت.
22And Rehoboam made Abijah the son of Maachah the chief, to be ruler among his brethren: for he thought to make him king.
23And he dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his children throughout all the countries of Judah and Benjamin, unto every fenced city: and he gave them victual in abundance. And he desired many wives.
