¹آحاز بیست ساله بود که پادشاه شد و مدت شانزده سال در اورشلیم سلطنت کرد. خداوند از اعمال او راضی نبود و براه جد خود، داود نرفت،

¹Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: but he did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD, like David his father:

²بلکه راه و روش پادشاهان اسرائیل را تعقیب کرد. او حتی بت بَعل را ساخت

²For he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and made also molten images for Baalim.

³و در قربانگاه وادی بنی هِنوم خوشبوئی دود کرد. به پیروی از کردار زشت اقوامی که خداوند آن ها را از سر راه مردم اسرائیل راند، پسران خود را قربانی کرد.

³Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.

⁴در مراسم قربانی و دود کردن خوشبوئی در معابد بالای تپه ها و زیر هر درخت سبز، شرکت نمود.

⁴He sacrificed also and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

⁵بنابران، خداوند، خدای او، به دست پادشاه سوریه مغلوبش ساخت. پادشاه سوریه تعداد زیادی از عساکر او را اسیر گرفت و به دمشق بُرد. پادشاه اسرائیل هم او را مغلوب کرد و تعداد بی حسابی از سپاه او بقتل رسیدند.

⁵Wherefore the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they smote him, and carried away a great multitude of them captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter.

⁶فَقَح (پسر رِملیا) پادشاه اسرائیل، یکصد و بیست هزار نفر را که همه مردان جنگجو بودند، در یک روز در یَهُودا کشت، زیرا آن ها خداوند، خدای پدران خود را ترک کردند.

⁶For Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah an hundred and twenty thousand in one day, which were all valiant men; because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers.

⁷بعد زِکری که یک مرد شجاع اسرائیلی بود، شهزاده مَعَسیا، عزریقام، فرمانده گارد سلطنتی و اَلقانَه را که شخص دوم در دربار شاه بود بقتل رساند.

⁷And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slew Maaseiah the king's son, and Azrikam the governor of the house, and Elkanah that was next to the king.

⁸سپاه اسرائیل، دوصد هزار نفر از زن و پسر و دختر مردم یَهُودا را باوجودیکه خویشاوندان آن ها بودند، اسیر گرفتند و با غنیمت زیادی به سامره بردند.

⁸And the children of Israel carried away captive of their brethren two hundred thousand, women, sons, and daughters, and took also away much spoil from them, and brought the spoil to Samaria.

⁹اما عودید، یکی از انبیای خداوند که در سامره بود، به ملاقات عساکری که از جنگ برگشته بودند، رفت و به آن ها گفت: «چون خداوند، خدای اجداد تان بر مردم یَهُودا قهر شد، آن ها را به دست شما تسلیم کرد، اما شما از روی خشم آن ها را بقتل رساندید و خبر آن فاجعه به آسمان رسید.

⁹But a prophet of the LORD was there, whose name was Oded: and he went out before the host that came to Samaria, and said unto them, Behold, because the LORD God of your fathers was wroth with Judah, he hath delivered them into your hand, and ye have slain them in a rage that reacheth up unto heaven.

¹⁰حالا شما می خواهید زن و مرد مردم یَهُودا را غلام خویش بسازید. آیا خود شما در مقابل خداوند، خدای تان هیچ گناهی نکرده اید؟

¹⁰And now ye purpose to keep under the children of Judah and Jerusalem for bondmen and bondwomen unto you: but are there not with you, even with you, sins against the LORD your God?

¹¹پس به حرف من گوش بدهید و خویشاوندان تان را که اسیر گرفته اید، واپس به خانه های شان بفرستید، در غیر آن خشم شدید خداوند بر سر تان خواهد آمد.»

¹¹Now hear me therefore, and deliver the captives again, which ye have taken captive of your brethren: for the fierce wrath of the LORD is upon you.

¹²یک عده از رهبران افرایمی هم به مخالفت برخاستند. آن ها عبارت بودند از عَزَریا پسر یَهُوحانان، بَرَکیا پسر مِشُلیموت، یَحِزقیا پسر شلوم و عماسا پسر حَدلای.

¹²Then certain of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against them that came from the war,

¹³آن ها به کسانی که از جنگ برگشته بودند گفتند: «شما نمی بایست اسیران را به اینجا بیاورید، زیرا با این کار تان ما را در حضور خداوند گناهکار می سازید. ما خود ما زیاد گناه کرده ایم و شما می خواهید به گناه ما بیفزائید. این عمل شما سبب خواهد شد که قهر و غضب خداوند بر سر ما بیاید.»

¹³And said unto them, Ye shall not bring in the captives hither: for whereas we have offended against the LORD already, ye intend to add more to our sins and to our trespass: for our trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.

¹⁴بنابران، مردان مسلح همه اسیران را با همه غنیمتی که آورده بودند پیش رهبران قوم و مردم بردند.

¹⁴So the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the princes and all the congregation.

¹⁵آنگاه رهبران نامبرده به اسیرانِ که برهنه بودند، از آن غنیمت لباس دادند که تن خود را بپوشانند. همچنین پاپوش، خوردنی و نوشیدنی هم برای شان تهیه نمودند. کسانی را که مریض و ناتوان بودند بر خرها سوار کردند و پیش خویشاوندان شان به اریحا که شهر درختان خرما بود، بردند و بعد خودشان به سامره برگشتند.

¹⁵And the men which were expressed by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all that were naked among them, and arrayed them, and shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon asses, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brethren: then they returned to Samaria.

¹⁶در همین وقت آحاز پادشاه دست کمک بسوی پادشاه آشور دراز کرد،

¹⁶At that time did king Ahaz send unto the kings of Assyria to help him.

¹⁷زیرا ادومیان بار دیگر بر یَهُودا حمله کردند، آن ها را شکست دادند و مردم شان را اسیر گرفتند.

¹⁷For again the Edomites had come and smitten Judah, and carried away captives.

¹⁸فلسطینی ها هم به شهرهائی که در دامنۀ کوهها و جنوب یَهُودا بودند حمله آوردند و شهرهای بیت شمس، اَیَلون، جِدیروت، سوکوه، تِمنَه و جِمزو را با دهات شان تصرف کرده در آنجا سکونت اختیار نمودند.

¹⁸The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the low country, and of the south of Judah, and had taken Bethshemesh, and Ajalon, and Gederoth, and Shocho with the villages thereof, and Timnah with the villages thereof, Gimzo also and the villages thereof: and they dwelt there.

¹⁹خداوند بخاطر اعمال زشت آحاز، پادشاه یَهُودا، مردم یَهُودا را خوار و ذلیل ساخت، زیرا او مردم را گمراه کرد و در برابر خداوند مرتکب گناه بزرگی شد.

¹⁹For the LORD brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel; for he made Judah naked, and transgressed sore against the LORD.

²⁰اما وقتیکه تِلغَت پِلناسَر، پادشاه آشور به یَهُودا رسید، بعوض اینکه به او کمک کند، مشکلات زیادی برای او فراهم کرد

²⁰And Tilgathpilneser king of Assyria came unto him, and distressed him, but strengthened him not.

²¹و باوجودیکه آحاز از خزانه های عبادتگاه خداوند و قصر شاهی به او جزیه داد، اما فایده ای برایش نکرد.

²¹For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of the LORD, and out of the house of the king, and of the princes, and gave it unto the king of Assyria: but he helped him not.

²²آحاز پادشاه در آن دوران درماندگی و بیچارگی بیش از بیش در برابر خداوند گناه ورزید.

²²And in the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against the LORD: this is that king Ahaz.

²³زیرا برای خدایان مردم دمشق که او را شکست دادند، قربانی کرد و گفت: «چون آن خدایان به پادشاهان سوریه کمک کردند من هم برای شان قربانی می کنم تا به من هم کمک نمایند.» اما آن ها برعکس، سبب بربادی او و تمام مردم اسرائیل شدند.

²³For he sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus, which smote him: and he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria help them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.

²⁴آحاز ظروف و وسایل عبادتگاه خداوند را جمع کرد و همه را تکه تکه کرد، دروازه های عبادتگاه خداوند را بست و برای خود در هر گوشه و کنار شهر اورشلیم قربانگاه ساخت.

²⁴And Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the house of the LORD, and he made him altars in every corner of Jerusalem.

²⁵معابد بلند در تمام شهرهای یَهُودا آباد کرد تا برای خدایان بیگانه خوشبوئی دود کند. به این ترتیب آتش خشم خداوند، خدای اجداد خود را شعله ور ساخت.

²⁵And in every several city of Judah he made high places to burn incense unto other gods, and provoked to anger the LORD God of his fathers.

²⁶بقیۀ وقایع دوران سلطنت آحاز، رفتار و کردار او از اول تا آخر در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان یَهُودا و اسرائیل نوشته شده اند.وقتی آحاز فوت کرد و با پدران خود پیوست، جنازۀ او را در شهر اورشلیم بردند، اما در مقبرۀ پادشاهان اسرائیل دفن نکردند و پسرش، حِزقیا بجای او پادشاه شد.

²⁶Now the rest of his acts and of all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

²⁷وقتی آحاز فوت کرد و با پدران خود پیوست، جنازۀ او را در شهر اورشلیم بردند، اما در مقبرۀ پادشاهان اسرائیل دفن نکردند و پسرش، حِزقیا بجای او پادشاه شد.

²⁷And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem: but they brought him not into the sepulchres of the kings of Israel: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.
