¹یوشیا مراسم عید فِصَح را برای احترام خداوند در اورشلیم تجلیل کرد و در روز چهاردهم ماه اول بره های فِصَح را ذبح کردند.

¹Moreover Josiah kept a passover unto the LORD in Jerusalem: and they killed the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month.

²کاهنان را به وظایف شان گماشت و برای خدمت در عبادتگاه خداوند آن ها را تشویق کرد.

²And he set the priests in their charges, and encouraged them to the service of the house of the LORD,

³به لاویان که به مردم تعلیم می دادند و خود را وقف خدمت خداوند کرده بودند، گفت: «صندوق مقدس پیمان را در عبادتگاهی که سلیمان، پسر داود پادشاه اسرائیل آباد کرد، قرار دهید. شما دیگر مجبور نیستید که آنرا بر شانه های تان حمل کنید. پس برای خدمت به خداوند، خدای تان و مردم حاضر و آماده باشید.

³And said unto the Levites that taught all Israel, which were holy unto the LORD, Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel did build; it shall not be a burden upon your shoulders: serve now the LORD your God, and his people Israel,

⁴وظایف خود را در عبادتگاه به نوبت، دسته دسته و تحت نام خانوادۀ تان و شرایطی که داود پادشاه و پسر او، سلیمان وضع کرده است، اجراء نمائید.

⁴And prepare yourselves by the houses of your fathers, after your courses, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son.

⁵برای خدمت به دسته ها تقسیم شوید و هر دسته در جای خود در عبادتگاه خدا بایستد و به یکی از طایفه های قوم اسرائیل کمک کند.

⁵And stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the families of the fathers of your brethren the people, and after the division of the families of the Levites.

⁶گوسفند فِصَح را ذبح کنید و تن خود را پاک سازید و مطابق احکام کلام خداوند که به موسی داد برای خدمت به مردم اسرائیل آماده باشید.»

⁶So kill the passover, and sanctify yourselves, and prepare your brethren, that they may do according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

⁷بعد یوشیا به حاضرین از رمه و گلۀ خود سی هزار بره و بزغاله برای قربانی عید فِصَح و همچنین سه هزار گاو داد.

⁷And Josiah gave to the people, of the flock, lambs and kids, all for the passover offerings, for all that were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand bullocks: these were of the king's substance.

⁸مأمورین شاه هم به خواهش خود در اعانه به مردم، کاهنان و لاویان سهم گرفتند. مأمورین عالیرتبۀ عبادتگاه خداوند، یعنی حِلقیا، زکریا، یحیئیل دو هزار و ششصد بره و بزغاله و سیصد گاو به کاهنان برای قربانی عید فِصَح هدیه دادند.

⁸And his princes gave willingly unto the people, to the priests, and to the Levites: Hilkiah and Zechariah and Jehiel, rulers of the house of God, gave unto the priests for the passover offerings two thousand and six hundred small cattle and three hundred oxen.

⁹رهبران لاویان، یعنی کُونَنیا و برادرانش شِمَعیه، نتنئیل، حَشَبیا، یعی ئیل و یُوزاباد پنج هزار بره و پنجصد گاو برای قربانی فِصَح به لاویان دادند.

⁹Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethaneel, his brethren, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chief of the Levites, gave unto the Levites for passover offerings five thousand small cattle, and five hundred oxen.

¹⁰وقتی همه چیز آماده شدند، کاهنان بجاهای خود ایستادند. لاویان قرار امر شاه به دسته های معین برای خدمت حاضر شدند

¹⁰So the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their place, and the Levites in their courses, according to the king's commandment.

¹¹و برۀ فِصَح را ذبح کردند. کاهنان خون بره را از لاویان گرفته بر قربانگاه پاشیدند. در عین حال، لاویان قربانی ها را پوست کردند.

¹¹And they killed the passover, and the priests sprinkled the blood from their hands, and the Levites flayed them.

¹²گاوها و دیگر حیوانات را که جهت قربانی سوختنی آورده بودند، یکسو گذاشتند تا هر قبیله مطابق شریعت موسی قربانی خود را برای خداوند تقدیم کند.

¹²And they removed the burnt offerings, that they might give according to the divisions of the families of the people, to offer unto the LORD, as it is written in the book of Moses. And so did they with the oxen.

¹³برۀ فِصَح را، طبق هدایت تورات موسی بر آتش کباب کردند و هدیه های مقدس را در دیگها، پاتله ها و تابه ها پختند و بیرون بردند تا مردم بخورند.

¹³And they roasted the passover with fire according to the ordinance: but the other holy offerings sod they in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and divided them speedily among all the people.

¹⁴بعد لاویان برای خود و کاهنان اولادۀ هارون غذا تهیه کردند، چونکه خود کاهنان از صبح تا شام مشغول تقدیم قربانی ها و سوختن و سوزاندن چربی قربانیها بودند، برای این کار فرصت نداشتند.

¹⁴And afterward they made ready for themselves, and for the priests: because the priests the sons of Aaron were busied in offering of burnt offerings and the fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests the sons of Aaron.

¹⁵خوانندگان (اولادۀ آساف) طبق هدایتی که داود، آساف، هیمان و یدوتون نبی سالها پیش داده بودند به جاهای معین خود قرار گرفتند. دروازه بانان به مراقبت دروازه ها گماشته شدند. آن ها مجبور نبودند که از سر وظیفۀ خود دور شوند، زیرا برادران لاوی شان غذا تهیه کرده برای آن ها می آوردند.

¹⁵And the singers the sons of Asaph were in their place, according to the commandment of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the king's seer; and the porters waited at every gate; they might not depart from their service; for their brethren the Levites prepared for them.

¹⁶تمام مراسم عید فِصَح در یک روز اجراء شد. قربانی های سوختنی همانطوری که یوشیا هدایت داده بود، همگی بر قربانگاه خداوند تقدیم شدند.

¹⁶So all the service of the LORD was prepared the same day, to keep the passover, and to offer burnt offerings upon the altar of the LORD, according to the commandment of king Josiah.

¹⁷همه کسانی که در اورشلیم حاضر بودند در برگزاری مراسم عید فِصَح سهم گرفتند. بعد عید نان فطیر را برای هفت روز تجلیل کردند.

¹⁷And the children of Israel that were present kept the passover at that time, and the feast of unleavened bread seven days.

¹⁸از زمان سموئیل نبی تا آن روز، عید فِصَح با آن جلال و شوکت برگزار نشده بود و هیچیک از پادشاهان سابق اسرائیل، مثل یوشیا عیدی را که آنقدر مردم و تعداد زیاد کاهنان و لاویان در آن شرکت نموده باشند، تجلیل نکرده بود.

¹⁸And there was no passover like to that kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet; neither did all the kings of Israel keep such a passover as Josiah kept, and the priests, and the Levites, and all Judah and Israel that were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

¹⁹این مراسم در سال هجدهم سلطنت یوشیا برگزار شد.

¹⁹In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah was this passover kept.

²⁰بعد از آنکه یوشیا همه کارهای عبادتگاه را تمام کرد، نِکو پادشاه مصر، در کنار دریای فرات به جنگ کرکمیش رفت و یوشیا برای مقابلۀ او لشکرکشی کرد.

²⁰After all this, when Josiah had prepared the temple, Necho king of Egypt came up to fight against Charchemish by Euphrates: and Josiah went out against him.

²¹اما نِکو نمایندگان خود را با این پیام پیش او فرستاد: «من با تو کدام دشمنی ندارم و نمی خواهم با تو جنگ کنم. منظور آمدن من به اینجا، جنگ با دشمنان است، زیرا خداوند به من فرمود که فوراً این کار را انجام بدهم. پس در کار خدائی که همراه من است، مداخله مکن، مبادا ترا هلاک سازد.»

²¹But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with thee, thou king of Judah? I come not against thee this day, but against the house wherewith I have war: for God commanded me to make haste: forbear thee from meddling with God, who is with me, that he destroy thee not.

²²اما یوشیا قبول نکرد که برگردد. برعکس، با تغییر لباس خواست که با نِکو بجنگد. او به پیام نِکو که از جانب خدا بود، گوش نداد و به قصد جنگ به وادی مِجِدو رفت.

²²Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and hearkened not unto the words of Necho from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo.

²³در آنجا تیراندازان، یوشیا را با تیر زدند و زخمی اش کردند. آنگاه یوشیا به خادمان خود گفت: «مرا از میدان جنگ بیرون ببرید، زیرا زخم مهلکی برداشته ام.»

²³And the archers shot at king Josiah; and the king said to his servants, Have me away; for I am sore wounded.

²⁴پس خادمانش او را از عراده اش به یک عرادۀ دیگر انتقال داده به اورشلیم بردند. یوشیا در آنجا فوت کرد و او را در آرامگاه آبائی اش به خاک سپردند. تمام مردم یَهُودا برایش ماتم گرفتند.

²⁴His servants therefore took him out of that chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had; and they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died, and was buried in one of the sepulchres of his fathers. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.

²⁵ارمیا برای او مرثیه ای خواند و همه خوانندگان مرد و زن، سرود غم و آهنگ ماتم را برایش سرودند و مردم تا به امروز همان سرود و نوای غم را برای یوشیا زمزمه می کنند. این مرثیه مانند یک فریضۀ دینی بشمار می رود و در کتاب مرثیه ها ثبت شده است.

²⁵And Jeremiah lamented for Josiah: and all the singing men and the singing women spake of Josiah in their lamentations to this day, and made them an ordinance in Israel: and, behold, they are written in the lamentations.

²⁶بقیۀ وقایع دوران سلطنت یوشیا، کارهای نیک او که مطابق اوامر کتاب توراتِ خداوند بعمل آوردو همچنین فعالیتهای او در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل و یَهُودا ذکر شده اند.

²⁶Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and his goodness, according to that which was written in the law of the LORD,

²⁷و همچنین فعالیتهای او در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل و یَهُودا ذکر شده اند.

²⁷And his deeds, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
