1چون خدا از لطف خود این وظیفه را به ما داده است، مأیوس نمی گردیم.
1Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
2ما از همه روش های پنهانی و ننگین دور شده ایم و هرگز با فریبکاری رفتار نمی کنیم و پیام خدا را تحریف نمی نمائیم، بلکه با بیان روشن حقیقت می کوشیم که در حضور خدا مورد پسند وجدان همۀ مردم باشیم.
2But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
3زیرا اگر انجیلی که اعلام می کنیم پوشیده باشد، فقط برای کسانی پوشیده است که در راه هلاکت هستند.
3But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4سردار این دنیا افکار آن ها را کور کرده است تا نور انجیل پُر شکوه مسیح را که صورت خدای نادیده است، نبینند.
4In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
5ما نمی خواهیم خود ما مورد توجه قرار بگیریم، بلکه اعلام می کنیم که عیسی مسیح، خداوند است و ما به خاطر او خادمین شما هستیم.
5For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
6زیرا همان خدائی که فرمود: «روشنائی از میان تاریکی بدرخشد»، در قلب های ما نیز درخشیده است تا آن نور معرفت جلال خدا که در چهرۀ مسیح مشاهده می شود، بر ما بدرخشد.
6For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
7با وجود این، ما چنین گنجی در کوزه های سفالین داریم تا معلوم گردد که آن قدرت بزرگ از ما نیست، بلکه از خداست.
7But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
8از هر طرف تحت فشار هستیم، ولی نمی شکنیم؛ گاهی دچار شک و تردید می شویم، اما تسلیم نا امیدی نمی گردیم.
8We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
9آزار می بینیم، اما هیچ وقت تنها نیستیم. می افتیم ولی نابود نمی شویم.
9Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
10بدن های فانی ما دائماً داغ مرگ عیسی را با خود دارند تا زندگی عیسی در بدن های ما نیز ظاهر شود.
10Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
11بلی، در تمام دورۀ زندگی خود همیشه به خاطر عیسی به مرگ تسلیم می شویم تا زندگی عیسی در جسم فانی ما ظاهر شود.
11For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.
12پس در حالی که اثرات مرگ در بین ما دیده می شود، اثرات زندگی در بین شما مشهود است.
12So then death worketh in us, but life in you.
13نوشته شده است: «چون ایمان داشتم، سخن گفتم.» ما نیز سخن می گوئیم، چون ایمان داریم.
13We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;
14زیرا می دانیم خدا، که عیسی خداوند را پس از مرگ زنده گردانید، ما را نیز با عیسی زنده خواهد ساخت و با شما به حضور خود خواهد آورد.
14Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.
15این همه به خاطر شماست تا به هر اندازه ای که فیض خدا شامل مردم بیشتری شود، شکر و سپاس برای جلال او نیز زیادتر شود.
15For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
16بنابراین، امید خود را از دست نمی دهیم. اگرچه وجود ظاهری ما رفته رفته از بین می رود، وجود باطنی ما روز بروز نو می شود.
16For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
17و این رنج و زحمت ناچیز و زودگذر، جلال عظیم و بی پایانی را که غیرقابل مقایسه است برای ما فراهم می کندو در ضمن، ما به چیزهای نادیدنی چشم دوخته ایم نه به چیزهای دیدنی، زیرا آنچه به چشم می آید موقتی است، ولی چیزهای نادیدنی تا ابد دوام دارند.
17For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
18و در ضمن، ما به چیزهای نادیدنی چشم دوخته ایم نه به چیزهای دیدنی، زیرا آنچه به چشم می آید موقتی است، ولی چیزهای نادیدنی تا ابد دوام دارند.
18While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
