¹هفتاد پسر اخاب در سامره زندگی می کردند. ییهُو نامه ای نوشت و از آن یک یک نسخه به والیان یِزرعیل، مو سفیدان شهر و اولیای فرزندان اخاب فرستاد.

¹And Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria, unto the rulers of Jezreel, to the elders, and to them that brought up Ahab's children, saying,

²مضمون نامه از اینقرار بود: «چون پسران اخاب با شما زندگی می کنند، به مجردیکه این نامه به دست شما برسد، یکی از لایقترین آن ها را بعنوان پادشاه خود انتخاب کنید و با عراده ها، اسپها، شهرهای مستحکم و اسلحه ای که در دسترس دارید آمادۀ دفاع از تاج و تخت او باشید.»

²Now as soon as this letter cometh to you, seeing your master's sons are with you, and there are with you chariots and horses, a fenced city also, and armor;

³اما آن ها با دریافت آن نامه به وحشت افتادند و گفتند: «دو پادشاه نتوانستند در برابر این مرد مقاومت کنند ما چطور می توانیم؟»

³Look even out the best and meetest of your master's sons, and set him on his father's throne, and fight for your master's house.

⁴آنگاه منتظم قصر شاهی و والی شهر با مو سفیدان و اولیای فرزندان اخاب پیامی به ییهُو فرستاده گفتند: «ما همه خدمتگار تو هستیم، هر امری که بکنی بجا می آوریم و ما بغیر از تو پادشاه دیگری نمی خواهیم. اختیار همه چیز را به دست تو می دهیم.»

⁴But they were exceedingly afraid, and said, Behold, two kings stood not before him: how then shall we stand?

⁵بعد ییهُو نامۀ دیگری به آن ها نوشت و ذکر کرد: «اگر شما طرفدار من هستید و از امر من اطاعت می کنید، پس فردا در همین وقت سرهای پسران آقای تان را برای من به یِزرعیل بفرستید.» در این وقت همۀ آن شهزادگان نزد رهبران شهر و تحت تربیۀ آن ها بودند.

⁵And he that was over the house, and he that was over the city, the elders also, and the bringers up of the children, sent to Jehu, saying, We are thy servants, and will do all that thou shalt bid us; we will not make any king: do thou that which is good in thine eyes.

⁶وقتی نامۀ ییهُو به دست آن ها رسید، هر هفتاد شهزاده را کشتند و سرهای شان را در یک تکری انداخته به یِزرعیل فرستادند.

⁶Then he wrote a letter the second time to them, saying, If ye be mine, and if ye will hearken unto my voice, take ye the heads of the men your master's sons, and come to me to Jezreel by to morrow this time. Now the king's sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, which brought them up.

⁷چون به ییهُو خبر دادند که سرهای پسران شاه را آوردند، او گفت: «آن ها را در دو توده تا صبح بدهن دروازۀ شهر بگذارید.»

⁷And it came to pass, when the letter came to them, that they took the king's sons, and slew seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent him them to Jezreel.

⁸فردای آن ییهُو به دروازۀ شهر رفت و خطاب به مردمی که در آنجا بودند کرده گفت: «شما بیگناه هستید. من بر ضد آقای خود توطئه کردم و او را کشتم، اما قتل پسران شاه کار من نیست.

⁸And there came a messenger, and told him, saying, They have brought the heads of the king's sons. And he said, Lay ye them in two heaps at the entering in of the gate until the morning.

⁹شما باید بدانید که همه پیشگوئی هائی که خداوند دربارۀ اولادۀ اخاب فرموده بود به حقیقت رسید و وعده ای را که بوسیلۀ بندۀ خود، ایلیا کرده بود عملی ساخت.»

⁹And it came to pass in the morning, that he went out, and stood, and said to all the people, Ye be righteous: behold, I conspired against my master, and slew him: but who slew all these?

¹⁰به این ترتیب همه بازماندگان اخاب را همراه با رهبران شهر، دوستان نزدیک او و کاهنان به قتل رساند و هیچکدام شان را زنده نگذاشت.

¹⁰Know now that there shall fall unto the earth nothing of the word of the LORD, which the LORD spake concerning the house of Ahab: for the LORD hath done that which he spake by his servant Elijah.

¹¹بعد ییهُو رهسپار سامره شد. در بین راه به جائی رسید که محل اجتماع چوپانها بود.

¹¹So Jehu slew all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men, and his kinsfolk, and his priests, until he left him none remaining.

¹²در آنجا با چند نفر از خویشاوندان اخزیا، پادشاه یهودا برخورد. از آن ها پرسید: «شما کیستید؟» آن ها جواب دادند: «ما خویشاوندان اخزیا هستیم و برای دیدن شهزادگان و ملکه ایزابل می رویم.»

¹²And he arose and departed, and came to Samaria. And as he was at the shearing house in the way,

¹³ییهُو به مردان خود گفت: «اینها را زنده دستگیر کنید.» پس آن ها را که جمعاً چهل و دو نفر بودند دستگیر کرده در کنار چاه همان محل همه را کشتند و هیچکدام شان را زنده نگذاشتند.

¹³Jehu met with the brethren of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, Who are ye? And they answered, We are the brethren of Ahaziah; and we go down to salute the children of the king and the children of the queen.

¹⁴وقتی ییهُو آنجا را ترک کرد، یهوناداب، پسر رَکاب را دید که به استقبالش می آید. با او احوالپرسی کرده گفت: «آیا همان صمیمیتی را که من با تو دارم تو هم با من داری؟» یهوناداب جواب داد: «بلی.» ییهُو گفت: «پس اگر اینطور است، دستت را به من بده.» یهوناداب دست خود را داد و ییهُو او را بر عرادۀ خود سوار کرد

¹⁴And he said, Take them alive. And they took them alive, and slew them at the pit of the shearing house, even two and forty men; neither left he any of them.

¹⁵و گفت: «بیا با من برو و با چشم خود ببین که چه کارهائی برای خداوند انجام داده ام.» پس آن ها یکجا به سامره رفتند.

¹⁵And when he was departed thence, he lighted on Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him: and he saluted him, and said to him, Is thine heart right, as my heart is with thy heart? And Jehonadab answered, It is. If it be, give me thine hand. And he gave him his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot.

¹⁶وقتی ییهُو به سامره رسید، قراریکه خداوند برای ایلیا پیشگوئی فرموده بود، همه کسانی را که از خانوادۀ اخاب باقی مانده بودند بقتل رساند و یکی شان را هم زنده نگذاشت.

¹⁶And he said, Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD. So they made him ride in his chariot.

¹⁷بعد ییهُو همۀ مردم را جمع کرده به آن ها گفت: «اخاب در حصۀ پرستش بعل کوتاهی کرد، اما من می خواهم که از صمیم دل خدمت او را بکنم.

¹⁷And when he came to Samaria, he slew all that remained unto Ahab in Samaria, till he had destroyed him, according to the saying of the LORD, which he spake to Elijah.

¹⁸پس حالا همه انبیای بعل را با آنهائی که او را پرستش می کنند و همچنین کاهنان را بحضور من بیاورید. هر کسیکه حاضر نشود جزای او مرگ است، زیرا من می خواهم که قربانی بزرگی برای بعل تقدیم کنم.» او این اعلان را از روی حیله کرد تا همه پیروان بعل را از بین ببرد.

¹⁸And Jehu gathered all the people together, and said unto them, Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu shall serve him much.

¹⁹سپس اعلامیه ای بسراسر سرزمین اسرائیل صادر کرد که یک روز را برای پرستش بعل تجلیل کنند.

¹⁹Now therefore call unto me all the prophets of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests; let none be wanting: for I have a great sacrifice to do to Baal; whosoever shall be wanting, he shall not live. But Jehu did it in subtilty, to the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal.

²⁰آنگاه تمام کسانیکه بعل را پرستش می کردند بدون استثناء آمدند و همه بداخل معبد رفتند تا آنکه در معبد دیگر جای پای ماندن نبود.

²⁰And Jehu said, Proclaim a solemn assembly for Baal. And they proclaimed it.

²¹بعد به تحویلدار البسه امر کرده گفت: «برای همه پرستش کنندگان بعل لباس بیاور.» او برای آن ها لباس را آورد.

²¹And Jehu sent through all Israel: and all the worshippers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that came not. And they came into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was full from one end to another.

²²سپس با یهوناداب، پسر رَکاب به معبد بعل رفت و به مردم گفت: «متوجه باشید که در اینجا هیچ کسی از پرستندگان خداوند را اجازه ندهید که داخل شود، همگی باید از پیروان بعل باشند.»

²²And he said unto him that was over the vestry, Bring forth vestments for all the worshippers of Baal. And he brought them forth vestments.

²³بعد از آن مراسم قربانی را شروع کردند. در عین حال ییهُو هشتاد نفر را در بیرون دروازه گماشت و به آن ها گفت: «اگر یکی از آن ها را بگذارید که فرار کند سزای تان مرگ است.»

²³And Jehu went, and Jehonadab the son of Rechab, into the house of Baal, and said unto the worshippers of Baal, Search, and look that there be here with you none of the servants of the LORD, but the worshippers of Baal only.

²⁴به مجردیکه مراسم قربانی بپایان رسید، ییهُو به محافظین و مأمورین گفت: «بروید همه را بکشید و احدی را زنده نگذارید.» پس همه را با شمشیر کشتند و اجساد آن ها را بیرون انداختند و بعد دوباره بداخل معبد رفتند

²⁴And when they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings, Jehu appointed fourscore men without, and said, If any of the men whom I have brought into your hands escape, he that letteth him go, his life shall be for the life of him.

²⁵و ستون بعل را بیرون آورده سوختاندند.

²⁵And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, and slay them; let none come forth. And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal.

²⁶به این ترتیب ستون بعل را با معبد آن ویران کردند و معبدش را به خاکروبه ای تبدیل نمودند که تا به امروز به همان حال باقی است.

²⁶And they brought forth the images out of the house of Baal, and burned them.

²⁷ییهُو همه آثار بعل را از اسرائیل از بین برد.

²⁷And they brake down the image of Baal, and brake down the house of Baal, and made it a draught house unto this day.

²⁸اما راه و روش گناه آلود یَرُبعام، پسر نباط را دنبال کرد، زیرا یَرُبعام مردم اسرائیل را تشویق به پرستش گوساله های طلائی که در بیت ئیل و دان بودند، نمود.

²⁸Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.

²⁹خداوند به ییهُو فرمود: «چون تو همه نقشه های مرا در مورد اولادۀ اخاب عملی کردی، بنابران وعده می دهم که اولاده ات تا نسل چهارم در اسرائیل پادشاهی کنند.»

²⁹Howbeit from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, Jehu departed not from after them, to wit, the golden calves that were in Bethel, and that were in Dan.

³⁰به این ترتیب ییهُو با خلوص نیت و از صمیم دل احکام خداوند، خدای اسرائیل را بجا نیاورد، بلکه برعکس، از کارهای یَرُبعام که مردم اسرائیل را براه گناه بُرد پیروی کرد.

³⁰And the LORD said unto Jehu, Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in mine eyes, and hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that was in mine heart, thy children of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.

³¹در آن ایام خداوند خواست که ساحۀ سرزمین اسرائیل را کوچکتر بسازد، بنابران به حَزایل، پادشاه ارام موقع داد که بسیاری از خاک آنرا،

³¹But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin.

³²از شرق دریای اُردن تا شهر جلعاد و همچنین جاد، رئوبین، مَنَسّی ـ از دریای عروعیر، در وادی اَرنُون تا جلعاد و باشان را تصرف کند.

³²In those days the LORD began to cut Israel short: and Hazael smote them in all the coasts of Israel;

³³بقیه فعالیتها و کارروائی های ییهُو و میزان قدرت او در کتاب پادشاهان اسرائیل ثبت اند.

³³From Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and the Manassites, from Aroer, which is by the river Arnon, even Gilead and Bashan.

³⁴ییهُو بعد از آنکه فوت کرد در سامره دفن شد و پسرش، یَهواَخاز بجای او بر تخت سلطنت نشست.ییهُو مدت بیست و هشت سال پادشاه اسرائیل در سامره بود.

³⁴Now the rest of the acts of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

³⁵ییهُو مدت بیست و هشت سال پادشاه اسرائیل در سامره بود.

³⁵And Jehu slept with his fathers: and they buried him in Samaria. And Jehoahaz his son reigned in his stead.

³⁶And the time that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty and eight years.
