¹اما شخصی به نام حنانیا با همسر خود سفیره قطعه زمینی را فروخت

¹But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

²و با اطلاع زن خود مبلغی از پول آن را نگهداشت و بقیه را آورد و در اختیار رسولان نهاد.

²And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.

³پِترُس گفت: «ای حنانیا، چرا اینطور تسلیم شیطان شدی تا او تو را وادار کند به روح القدس دروغ بگویی و مقداری از پول زمینت را نگاهداری؟ آیا وقتی آنرا داشتی مال خودت نبود؟

³But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

⁴آیا وقتی آنرا فروختی باز هم در اختیار خودت نبود؟ چطور شد که فکر چنین کاری کردی؟ تو نه به انسان بلکه به خدا دروغ گفته ای.»

⁴Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

⁵همینکه حنانیا این سخنان را شنید به زمین افتاد و جان سپرد و همه آنانی که این را شنیدند بسیار ترسیدند.

⁵And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

⁶آنگاه جوانان آمدند و او را کفن کرده بخاک سپردند.

⁶And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

⁷پس از سه ساعت همسرش بدون اینکه از جریان آگاه باشد داخل شد.

⁷And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.

⁸پِترُس از او پرسید: «بگو ببینم آیا زمین را به همین مبلغ فروختید؟» زن گفت: «بلی به همین مبلغ.»

⁸And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.

⁹پِترُس به او گفت: «چرا هر دو همدست شدید که روح خداوند را بیازمائید؟ کسانی که شوهرت را دفن کردند هم اکنون در آستانۀ دروازه هستند و تو را هم خواهند برد.»

⁹Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

¹⁰در همان لحظه او پیش پاهای پِترُس افتاد و جان داد. جوانان که داخل شدند او را مرده یافتند و جسدش را بردند و پهلوی شوهرش دفن کردند.

¹⁰Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.

¹¹بر همه کلیسا و کسانی که این را شنیدند ترس شدید افتاد.

¹¹And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

¹²رسولان عجایب و معجزات بیشماری در میان قوم انجام می دادند و با یکدل در رواق سلیمان جمع می شدند.

¹²And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.

¹³هیچکس خارج از جمع خود شان جرأت نمی کرد با آنها همنشین شود، اما مردم عموماً از ایشان تعریف می کردند.

¹³And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them.

¹⁴ولی بیش از پیش مردان و زنان بسیاری به خداوند ایمان آوردند و به ایشان پیوستند.

¹⁴And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)

¹⁵کار به جایی رسید که مردم، بیماران خود را در کوچه ها می آوردند و آنها را بر بستر و تشک می خوابانیدند تا وقتیکه پِترُس از آنجا میگذشت کم از کم سایه او بر بعضی از آنها بیفتد.

¹⁵Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

¹⁶عده زیادی از شهرهای اطراف اورشلیم آمدند و بیماران و کسانی را که گرفتار ارواح ناپاک بودند آورده و همه شفا یافتند.

¹⁶There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

¹⁷در این هنگام کاهن اعظم و دستیاران او یعنی فرقۀ صدوقی از روی بدبینی اقداماتی به عمل آوردند:

¹⁷Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation,

¹⁸آن ها رسولان را گرفتند و به زندان عمومی انداختند،

¹⁸And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.

¹⁹اما همان شب فرشتۀ خداوند درهای زندان را باز کرد و آنها را بیرون برد و به ایشان گفت:

¹⁹But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,

²⁰«بروید و در عبادتگاه بایستید و در مورد این زندگی نو با همه صحبت کنید.»

²⁰Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

²¹پس آنها این را شنیدند و به آن عمل کردند و صبح وقت به عبادتگاه رفته به تعلیم پرداختند. کاهن اعظم و دستیاران او، اعضای شورا و بزرگان اسرائیل را خواسته جلسه ای تشکیل دادند و کسانی را فرستادند تا رسولان را از زندان بیاورند.

²¹And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.

²²وقتی مأموران داخل زندان شدند آنها را نیافتند. پس بازگشتند و گزارش داده گفتند:

²²But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned and told,

²³«ما دیدیم که درهای زندان کاملاً بسته بود و نگهبانان در پیش دروازه ها سر خدمت حاضر بودند؛ ولی وقتی در را باز کردیم هیچکس را نیافتیم.»

²³Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.

²⁴هنگامیکه فرماندۀ محافظین عبادتگاه و سران کاهنان این را شنیدند، حیران ماندند که رسولان چه شدند و عاقبت کار چه خواهد شد.

²⁴Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow.

²⁵در این هنگام شخصی پیش آمد و گفت: «زندانیان شما در عبادتگاه ایستاده اند و قوم را تعلیم می دهند.»

²⁵Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.

²⁶پس فرمانده با محافظین عبادتگاه رفت و آنها را آورد، البته بدون اِعمال زور زیرا می ترسیدند که قوم آنها را سنگسار کنند.

²⁶Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.

²⁷رسولان را آوردند و در برابر شورا به پا داشتند و کاهن اعظم تحقیقات را چنین آغاز کرده گفت:

²⁷And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,

²⁸«مگر ما به تکرار به شما نگفتیم که دیگر به این نام تعلیم ندهید؟ اما شما برخلاف امر ما اورشلیم را با تعلیمات خود پُر کرده اید و می کوشید که خون این شخص را به گردن ما بیندازید.»

²⁸Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.

²⁹پِترُس و رسولان جواب دادند: «از خدا باید اطاعت کرد، نه از انسان.

²⁹Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

³⁰خدای پدران ما همان عیسی را که شما مصلوب کرده و کشتید زنده گردانید

³⁰The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.

³¹و به عنوان سرور و نجات دهنده با سرافرازی در سَمت راست خود نشانید تا فرصت توبه و آمرزش گناهان را به بنی اسرائیل عطا فرماید

³¹Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

³²و ما شاهدان این امور هستیم یعنی ما و روح القدس که خدا به مُطیعان خود بخشیده است.»

³²And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

³³هنگامیکه این را شنیدند چنان خشمگین شدند که تصمیم گرفتند آنها را بکشند.

³³When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.

³⁴اما شخصی از فرقۀ فریسی به نام غمالائیل که استاد شریعت و پیش همه مردم محترم بود در مجلس به پا خاست و امر کرد که رسولان را مدتی بیرون برند.

³⁴Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;

³⁵سپس به حاضران گفت: «ای اسرائیلی ها متوجه باشید که با اینها چه می کنید.

³⁵And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.

³⁶چند وقت پیش شخصی به نام تِیوداس برخاست و با این ادعا که شخص مهمی است، تقریباً چهارصد نفر را دور خود جمع کرد. اما او بقتل رسید و همه پیروانش از هم پاشیده شدند و تمام نقشه های او نقش بر آب شد.

³⁶For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought.

³⁷یهودای جلیلی هم در زمان سرشماری برخاست و گروهی را بدنبال خود کشید، اما او هم از بین رفت و پیروانش پراگنده شدند.

³⁷After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.

³⁸و امروز این را به شما میگویم که با این افراد کاری نداشته باشید. آن ها را به حال خود بگذارید، زیرا اگر نقشه و کاری که دارند از انسان باشد، به ثمر نخواهد رسید.

³⁸And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:

³⁹اما اگر از خدا باشد شما نمی توانید آن ها را شکست دهید. چون در این صورت شما هم جزء کسانی خواهید شد که با خدا ستیزه می کنند.»

³⁹But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

⁴⁰آنها به نصیحت او گوش دادند. رسولان را خواستند و پس از آنکه آن ها را با دُره زدند، به آنها اخطار کردند که از سخن گفتن به نام عیسی دست بردارند. سپس آن ها را آزاد کردند.

⁴⁰And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

⁴¹پس رسولان چون خدا آنها را شایسته دانسته بود که بخاطر نام عیسی بی حرمتی ببینند، خوشحالی کنان از حضور شورا بیرون رفتند.و همه روزه در عبادتگاه و در خانه ها به تعلیم و اعلام این مژده که عیسی، مسیح وعده شده است، ادامه دادند.

⁴¹And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

⁴²و همه روزه در عبادتگاه و در خانه ها به تعلیم و اعلام این مژده که عیسی، مسیح وعده شده است، ادامه دادند.

⁴²And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
