1پس پادشاه و هامان برای صرف غذا به ضیافتی که اِستَر داده بود رفتند.
1So the king and Haman came to banquet with Esther the queen.
2در موقع نوشیدن شراب، پادشاه باز از اِستَر پرسید: «ملکه اِستَر، بگو خواهشت چیست؟ حتی اگر نیمی از مملکتم را بخواهی، به تو می دهم.»
2And the king said again unto Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition, queen Esther? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? and it shall be performed, even to the half of the kingdom.
3ملکه اِستَر در جواب گفت: «خواهش من اینست که اگر پادشاه به من التفاتی دارند و صلاح بدانند، جان من و جان قوم مرا نجات دهند،
3Then Esther the queen answered and said, If I have found favour in thy sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request:
4زیرا من و قوم من برای کشتار فروخته شده ایم. اگر تنها مثل غلام فروخته می شدیم، حرفی نمی زدم و هرگز مزاحم شما نمی شدم. اما حالا خطر مرگ و نابودی ما را تهدید می کند.»
4For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondmen and bondwomen, I had held my tongue, although the enemy could not countervail the king's damage.
5خشایار شاه از ملکه اِستَر پرسید: «چه کسی جرأت چنین کاری را دارد؟ آن شخص کجا است؟»
5Then the king Ahasuerus answered and said unto Esther the queen, Who is he, and where is he, that durst presume in his heart to do so?
6اِستَر جواب داد: «دشمن ما این هامان شریر است که به قوم ما آزار می رساند.»
هامان با ترس و لرز به پادشاه و ملکه نگاه کرد.
6And Esther said, The adversary and enemy is this wicked Haman. Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen.
7پادشاه خشمگین شد و برخاسته به باغ قصر رفت. هامان فهمید که پادشاه تصمیم به مجازات او گرفته است. بنابراین، او در اطاق ماند تا پیش ملکه اِستَر زاری کند که جانش را نجات دهد.
7And the king arising from the banquet of wine in his wrath went into the palace garden: and Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king.
8او بر روی تخت اِستَر افتاد و زاری می کرد که بر او رحم کند. وقتی پادشاه دوباره به اطاق برگشت و او را در آن حال دید، با فریاد گفت: «این شخص می خواهد در حضور من و در قصر من به ملکه تجاوز کند.»
به محض اینکه پادشاه این را گفت، خواجه سرایان روی هامان را پوشاندند.
8Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman was fallen upon the bed whereon Esther was. Then said the king, Will he force the queen also before me in the house? As the word went out of king's mouth, they covered Haman's face.
9آنگاه یکی از خواجه سرایان که هربونه نام داشت گفت: «هامان به اندازه ای گستاخ شده است که برای کشتن مردخای که جان پادشاه را از خطر نجات داد، داری به ارتفاع بیست و سه متر در خانۀ خود آماده کرده است.» پادشاه گفت: «هامان را بر همان دار اعدام کنید.»بنابراین، هامان بر همان داری که برای کشتن مردخای آماده کرده بود، خودش اعدام شد و خشم پادشاه فرو نشست.
9And Harbonah, one of the chamberlains, said before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman had made for Mordecai, who spoken good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. Then the king said, Hang him thereon.
10بنابراین، هامان بر همان داری که برای کشتن مردخای آماده کرده بود، خودش اعدام شد و خشم پادشاه فرو نشست.
10So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king's wrath pacified.
