1«این احکام را نیز به بنی اسرائیل بده:
1Now these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them.
2اگر یک غلام عبرانی بخری، باید مدت شش سال برای تو خدمت کند. در سال هفتم بدون اینکه برای آزادی خود پولی بپردازد، باید آزاد شود.
2If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.
3اگر پیش از آنکه غلام تو شود مجرد باشد و در دوران غلامی دارای همسر گردد، در سال هفتم فقط خودش آزاد شود، اما اگر قبل از آنکه غلام تو شود متأهل باشد، در آنصورت هم او و هم زنش هر دو باید آزاد گردند.
3If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.
4اگر مالک او برایش زن گرفته و از آن زن صاحب فرزندانی شده باشد، آنگاه تنها خود او آزاد شود و همسر و فرزندانش پیش مالک او بمانند.
4If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself.
5اما اگر آن غلام بگوید: «مالک و زن و فرزندانم را دوست دارم و نمی خواهم آزاد بشوم»،
5And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:
6آنوقت مالکش او را به عبادتگاه ببرد و در آنجا در مقابل دروازه یا چوکات آن گوش او را با درفش سوراخ کند و از آن پس آن غلام تا آخر عمر غلام او خواهد بود.
6Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl; and he shall serve him for ever.
7اگر کسی دختر خود را به عنوان کنیز بفروشد، آن دختر نباید مثل غلام آزاد شود
7And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.
8اگر کسی دختری را بخرد و بخواهد با او ازدواج کند، اما بعداً از او خوشش نیاید، به پدر دختر اجازه بدهد که او را پس بخرد. او حق ندارد او را به بیگانگان بفروشد، زیرا این کار او خیانت شمرده می شود.
8If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her.
9اگر کسی کنیزی بخرد و او را به پسر خود بدهد، باید مثل دختر خود با او رفتار کند.
9And if he have betrothed her unto his son, he shall deal with her after the manner of daughters.
10اگر مردی همسر دیگری بگیرد، باید همان غذا و لباس و معاشرتی را که قبلاً با زن اول داشته است حفظ کند.
10If he take him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish.
11اگر این سه نکته را رعایت ننماید، باید او را بدون اخذ پول آزاد کند.»
11And if he do not these three unto her, then shall she go out free without money.
12«اگر کسی شخصی را طوری بزند که منجر به هلاکت او گردد، او نیز باید کشته شود.
12He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.
13اما اگر مرگ او تصادفی بوده و قصد کشتنش را نداشته، آنگاه به جائی که من برایش تعیین می کنم پناه ببرد تا در آنجا در امان باشد.
13And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee.
14ولی اگر کسی از روی خشم قصداً شخص دیگری را بکشد، حتی اگر به قربانگاه من هم پناه برده باشد، او نیز باید کشته شود.
14But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbor, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.
15هر کسی که پدر یا مادر خود را بزند، باید بقتل برسد.
15And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death.
16اگر کسی انسانی را بدزد و او را بفروشد یا به عنوان غلام نزد خود نگهدارد، باید کشته شود.
16And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.
17هر کسی که پدر یا مادر خود را لعنت کند، سزاوار کشته شدن است.
17And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.
18اگر موقع دعوا، یکی از طرفین، دیگری را با سنگ یا مشت طوری بزند که بستری شود، اما نمیرد
18And if men strive together, and one smite another with a stone, or with his fist, and he die not, but keepeth his bed:
19و بعد حالش خوب شود و بتواند با کمک عصا راه برود، کسی که او را زده است، بخشیده شود، اما باید غرامت ایام بیکاری و مخارج معالجۀ او را بپردازد.
19If he rise again, and walk abroad upon his staff, then shall he that smote him be quit: only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall cause him to be thoroughly healed.
20اگر کسی غلام یا کنیز خود را طوری با عصا بزند که جابجا بمیرد، باید مجازات شود.
20And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.
21ولی اگر او بعد از یکی دو روز بمیرد، مالکش نباید مجازات شود، زیرا آن غلام یا کنیز جزء دارائی او بوده و همین خساره برای او کافی است.
21Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money.
22اگر در جریان جنگ و دعوا زن حامله ای را طوری بزند که آن زن نُقصان کند، ولی به خودش آسیبی نرسد، ضارب جریمه ای را که شوهر آن زن تعیین می کند با موافقۀ قاضی بپردازد.
22If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
23اما اگر به خودش صدمه ای وارد شود، در آن صورت جزا باید جان به عوض جان،
23And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,
24چشم به عوض چشم، دندان به عوض دندان، دست به عوض دست، پا به عوض پا،
24Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
25داغ بجای داغ، زخم به عوض زخم و لطمه به عوض لطمه باشد.
25Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.
26اگر کسی غلام یا کنیز خود را طوری بزند که چشمش کور شود، او را در عوض چشمش آزاد کند.
26And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye's sake.
27اگر دندان او را بشکند، او را در عوض دندانش آزاد کند.»
27And if he smite out his manservant's tooth, or his maidservant's tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth's sake.
28«اگر گاوی با شاخ خود مرد یا زنی را بکشد، آن گاو را سنگسار کنند و گوشتش هم خورده نشود و صاحبش از مجازات معاف است.
28If an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall be surely stoned, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be quit.
29اما اگر آن گاو قبلاً هم شاخ می زد و صاحبش می دانست و باز هم گاو خود را نبندد و آن گاو مرد یا زنی را بکشد، گاو باید سنگسار و صاحبش نیز کشته شود.
29But if the ox were wont to push with his horn in time past, and it hath been testified to his owner, and he hath not kept him in, but that he hath killed a man or a woman; the ox shall be stoned, and his owner also shall be put to death.
30اما اگر خونبهائی برای مقتول تعیین گردد، صاحب گاو می تواند با پرداخت خونبها جان خود را نجات بدهد.
30If there be laid on him a sum of money, then he shall give for the ransom of his life whatsoever is laid upon him.
31اگر گاو دختر یا پسری را بکشد، باید همین حکم اجرا شود.
31Whether he have gored a son, or have gored a daughter, according to this judgment shall it be done unto him.
32اگر گاو غلام یا کنیزی را بکشد، صاحبش باید سی سکه نقره به عنوان خونبها به صاحب غلام یا کنیز بپردازد و گاو نیز سنگسار شود.
32If the ox shall push a manservant or a maidservant; he shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.
33اگر کسی سرپوش چاه را دور کند و یا چاهی بکند و سر آن را نپوشاند و گاو یا الاغی در آن بیفتد،
33And if a man shall open a pit, or if a man shall dig a pit, and not cover it, and an ox or an ass fall therein;
34صاحب چاه باید عوض آن حیوان را بدهد یا قیمت آن را به صاحبش بپردازد و حیوان مرده را برای خود نگهدارد.
34The owner of the pit shall make it good, and give money unto the owner of them; and the dead beast shall be his.
35اگر گاو کسی گاو شخص دیگری را بزند و بکشد، گاو زنده را بفروشند و قیمت آنرا بین خود تقسیم کنند و هر یک از آن ها نیمی از گاو کشته را به عنوان سهم خود بردارد.اما اگر معلوم شود که آن گاو عادت به شاخ زدن داشته و صاحبش او را نبسته، او باید به جانب مقابل یک گاو زنده بدهد و گاو مرده را برای خود نگهدارد.»
35And if one man's ox hurt another's, that he die; then they shall sell the live ox, and divide the money of it; and the dead ox also they shall divide.
36اما اگر معلوم شود که آن گاو عادت به شاخ زدن داشته و صاحبش او را نبسته، او باید به جانب مقابل یک گاو زنده بدهد و گاو مرده را برای خود نگهدارد.»
36Or if it be known that the ox hath used to push in time past, and his owner hath not kept him in; he shall surely pay ox for ox; and the dead shall be his own.
