1یک روز وقتی موسی گلۀ خسر خود، یترون کاهن را می چراند، گله را به طرف غرب بیابان بُرد تا به کوهِ مقدس حوریب یعنی سینا رسید.
1Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.
2در آنجا فرشتۀ خداوند از میان شعلۀ آتش که از یک بوته بر می خاست، بر او ظاهر شد. موسی نگاه کرد و دید که بوته شعله ور است اما نمی سوزد!
2And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
3پس با خود گفت: «نزدیک بروم و این چیز عجیب را ببینم که چرا بوته نمی سوزد؟»
3And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
4وقتی خداوند دید موسی نزدیک می آید، از میان بوتۀ آتش او را صدا کرد و فرمود: «موسی! موسی!» موسی عرض کرد: «بلی.»
4And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
5خدا فرمود: «نزدیکتر نیا، کفش هایت را از پاهایت بیرون کن چون جائی که ایستاده ای، زمینِ مقدس است.
5And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
6من، خدای اجداد تو هستم. خدای ابراهیم، اسحاق و یعقوب.» موسی روی خود را پوشاند، چون ترسید که به خدا نگاه کند.
6Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.
7آنگاه خداوند فرمود: «من دیدم که قوم برگزیدۀ من در مصر ظلم زیادی را متحمل شدند. من گریه و زاری آن ها را شنیده ام و از همه رنج و عذابی که کشیده اند، آگاهم.
7And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;
8بنابراین، آمده ام تا آن ها را از دست مصری ها نجات بدهم و از مصر بیرون آورده به سرزمینی حاصلخیز و وسیعی ببرم. به سرزمینی که اکنون کنعانیان، حِتیان، اَمُوریان، فِرزِیان، حویان و یبوسیان در آن زندگی می کنند.
8And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
9من فریاد قوم برگزیدۀ خود را شنیده ام و می دانم که چطور مصری ها به آن ها ظلم می کنند.
9Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.
10حالا ترا نزد فرعون می فرستم تا تو قوم برگزیدۀ من، بنی اسرائیل را از مصر بیرون بیاوری.»
10Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
11موسی به خدا عرض کرد: «ای خداوند، من چه کسی هستم که نزد فرعون بروم تا بنی اسرائیل را از مصر بیرون بیاورم؟»
11And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
12خدا فرمود: «من با تو خواهم بود و وقتی که تو قوم برگزیدۀ مرا از مصر بیرون بیاوری، مرا در این کوه پرستش خواهید کرد. این نشانه ای خواهد بود که من تو را فرستاده ام.»
12And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.
13موسی به خدا گفت: «وقتی من به نزد بنی اسرائیل بروم و بگویم که خدای اجداد شان مرا نزد ایشان فرستاده است و آن ها از من بپرسند که اسم او چیست، به آن ها چه بگویم؟»
13And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
14خدا فرمود: «هستم آنکه هستم. به بنی اسرائیل بگو که «من هستم» مرا نزد شما فرستاده است.
14And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
15به آن ها بگو: «یهوه خداوند، خدای اجداد شما، خدای ابراهیم، اسحاق و یعقوب مرا نزد شما فرستاده است.» اسم من تا ابد همین خواهد بود و تمام نسلهای آینده باید مرا به همین نام بخوانند.
15And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
16برو و تمام بزرگان قوم اسرائیل را جمع کن و به آن ها بگو: یهوه خداوند، خدای اجداد شما، خدای ابراهیم، اسحاق و یعقوب بر من ظاهر شد و گفت که او ظلمی را که مصریان با شما می کنند، دیدم
16Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt:
17و اراده کرده ام که شما را از مصر، که در آن رنج می کشید، بیرون بیاورم. من شما را به سرزمینی که حاصلخیز و وسیع است می برم. جائی که اکنون کنعانیان، حِتیان، اَمُوریان، فِرزِیان، حویان و یبوسیان در آن زندگی می کنند.
17And I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land flowing with milk and honey.
18آن ها به سخنان تو گوش خواهند داد. سپس تو به اتفاق بزرگان قوم اسرائیل، نزد پادشاه مصر برو و به او بگو: «خداوند، خدای عبرانیان، خود را بر ما ظاهر کرده است. حالا ما از تو تقاضا داریم که اجازه بدهی مدت سه روز به صحرا برویم و برای خداوند، خدای خود قربانی کنیم.»
18And they shall hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we beseech thee, three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.
19من می دانم که پادشاه مصر تا زیر فشار قرار نگیرد، به شما اجازه نخواهد داد.
19And I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand.
20اما من قدرت خود را به کار می برم و مصریان را با کارهای عجیبی که در بین آن ها انجام خواهم داد مجازات می کنم. بعد از آن او به شما اجازه می دهد که بروید.
20And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go.
21من قوم برگزیدۀ خود را در نظر مصریان محترم خواهم ساخت. بنابراین، وقتی مصر را ترک می کنید دست خالی نخواهید رفت.هر زن اسرائیلی به نزد همسایۀ مصری خود و یا هر زنی که در خانه او هست برود و از آن ها لباس و جواهرات طلا و نقره بگیرد و اسرائیلی ها آن ها را به پسران و دختران خود بپوشانند و ثروت مصری ها را با خود از مصر بیرون ببرند.»
21And I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty.
22هر زن اسرائیلی به نزد همسایۀ مصری خود و یا هر زنی که در خانه او هست برود و از آن ها لباس و جواهرات طلا و نقره بگیرد و اسرائیلی ها آن ها را به پسران و دختران خود بپوشانند و ثروت مصری ها را با خود از مصر بیرون ببرند.»
22But every woman shall borrow of her neighbor, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Egyptians.
