1چهار پادشاه یعنی امرافل پادشاهِ بابل (شینار)، اَرِیوک پادشاهِ الاسار، کدرلاعمر پادشاهِ عیلام و تدعال پادشاهِ قوئیم،
1And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations;
2رفتند تا با پنج پادشاه دیگر، یعنی بارع پادشاه سدوم، برشاع پادشاه عموره، شناب پادشاه ادما، شِمِبر پادشاه زِبُیم و پادشاه باِلَع (باِلَع همان صوغر است) جنگ کنند.
2That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.
3این پنج پادشاه با هم متحد شدند و در وادی سدیم که حالا بحیرۀ مُرده نامیده می شود به هم پیوستند.
3All these were joined together in the vale of Siddim, which is the salt sea.
4اینها دوازده سال زیر فرمان کدرلاعمر بودند، اما در سال سیزدهم بر ضد او شورش کردند.
4Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
5در سال چهاردهم کدرلاعمر و متحدین او با لشکریان شان آمدند و رفائیم را در اشتاروت قرنین، و زیزین را در حام، ایمیان را در دشت قیریتین
5And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaim in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emins in Shaveh Kiriathaim,
6و حوریان را در کوههای ادوم تا ایلپاران که نزدیک صحرا است تعقیب نموده شکست دادند.
6And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto Elparan, which is by the wilderness.
7سپس برگشتند و به قادِش که عین مشبات می باشد آمدند و تمامی عمالیقیان و اموریان را که در حَزَزون تامار زندگی می کردند مغلوب نمودند.
7And they returned, and came to Enmishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezontamar.
8سپس پادشاهان سدوم، عموره، اَدُمَه، زِبُیم و باِلَع (یا صوغر)، لشکریان خود را برای حمله بیرون آورده و در دشت سدیم آمادۀ جنگ شدند
8And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim;
9تا با پادشاهان عیلام، قوئیم، بابل و الاسار جنگ کنند. چهار پادشاه بر ضد پنج پادشاه.
9With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five.
10آن دشت پُر از چاه های قیر بود و وقتی که پادشاهان سدوم و عموره کوشش کردند تا از حملۀ دشمن فرار کنند در چاه ها افتادند، ولی سه پادشاه دیگر به کوهها فرار کردند.
10And the vale of Siddim was full of slime pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there; and they that remained fled to the mountain.
11آن چهار پادشاه همه چیز را در سدوم و عموره با تمام خوراکه ها برداشتند و رفتند.
11And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way.
12لوط، برادرزادۀ ابرام در سدوم زندگی می کرد. بنابراین، آن ها او را با تمام دارائی اش برداشتند و بردند.
12And they took Lot, Abram's brother's son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.
13ولی یک نفر که جان سالم بدر برده بود، آمد و تمام این وقایع را به ابرام عبرانی اطلاع داد. او در نزدیکی درختان مقدس که متعلق به ممری اَمُوری است زندگی می کرد. ممری و برادرانش اشکول و عانر از متحدین ابرام بودند.
13And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.
14وقتی ابرام شنید که برادرزاده اش دستگیر شده است تمام مردان جنگی خود را که سه صد و هجده نفر بودند آماده کرد و چهار پادشاه را تا دان تعقیب نمود.
14And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.
15سپس افراد خود را گروه گروه تقسیم کرد و هنگام شب به دشمن حمله کرده آن ها را شکست داد و آن ها را تا حوبه که در شمال دمشق است تعقیب کرد.
15And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.
16پس هر چه را که آن ها غارت کرده با خود برده بودند، پس گرفت. او همچنین لوط برادرزادۀ خود و تمام دارائی اش و تمام زنان و زندانیان دیگر را دوباره با خود آورد.
16And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.
17وقتی ابرام پس از پیروزی بر کدرلاعمر و پادشاهان دیگر مراجعت کرد، پادشاه سدوم برای استقبال او به دشت شاوه که دشت پادشاه نیز گفته می شود، رفت.
17And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale.
18ملکیزدق که پادشاه سالیم و کاهن خداوند تعالی بود، برای ابرام نان و شراب آورد
18And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.
19و برای او دعای خیر کرد و گفت: «خدای تعالی، که آسمان و زمین را آفرید ابرام را برکت دهد.
19And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
20سپاس بر خدای تعالی که تو را بر دشمنانت پیروز گردانید.» ابرام یک دهم غنایمی را که در جنگ به دست آورده بود، به ملکیزدق داد.
20And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
21پادشاه سدوم به ابرام گفت: «اموال غنیمت از خودت باشد، ولی افرادم را به من برگردان.»
21And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
22ابرام جواب داد: «قسم بنام خداوند، خدای تعالی که آسمان و زمین را آفرید.
22And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,
23من چیزی از اموال تو حتی یک نخ یا یک بند بوت را هم نگاه نخواهم داشت. تا تو نگوئی که من ابرام را ثروتمند کردم.من چیزی برای خودم نمی گیرم، مگر آنچه را که مردان من تصرف کرده و خورده اند. ولی بگذار همراهان من، عانر و اشکول و ممری سهم خود را بگیرند.»
23That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:
24من چیزی برای خودم نمی گیرم، مگر آنچه را که مردان من تصرف کرده و خورده اند. ولی بگذار همراهان من، عانر و اشکول و ممری سهم خود را بگیرند.»
24Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.
