1ابراهیم با زن دیگری به نام قطوره ازدواج کرد.
1Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.
2او زمران، یُقشان، مِدان، مدیان، یشباق و شوحا را به دنیا آورد.
2And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.
3یُقشان پدر شیا و دَدان بود. آشوریم، لطوشیم و لئومیم از نسل دَدان بودند.
3And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.
4عیفه، عیفر، حنوک، اَبیداع و اَلدَعَه فرزندان مدیان بودند. همۀ اینها فرزندان قطوره بودند.
4And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abidah, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.
5ابراهیم تمام دارائی خود را به اسحاق بخشید.
5And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.
6ولی در زمان حیات خود یک قسمت از دارائی خود را هم به پسر های که از زنهای دیگر خود داشت داد و آن ها را از پیش اسحاق جدا کرد و به سرزمین مشرق فرستاد.
6But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.
7ابراهیم در سن صد و هفتاد و پنج سالگی در حالیکه کاملاً پیر شده بود وفات یافت و به نزد اجداد خود رفت.
7And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.
8پسران او اسحاق و اسماعیل او را در آرامگاه مکفیله در مزرعۀ مشرق ممری که متعلق به عفرون پسر زوحار حتی بود دفن کردند.
8Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.
9این همان مزرعه ای بود که ابراهیم از حِتیان خریده بود. ابراهیم و زنش ساره هر دو در آنجا دفن شدند.
9And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;
10بعد از وفات ابراهیم، خدا پسر او، اسحاق را برکت داد و او نزدیک چاه «خدای زنده و بینا» زندگی می کرد.
10The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.
11پسران اسماعیل ـ کسی که هاجر، کنیز مصری ساره، برای ابراهیم به دنیا آورده بود ـ
11And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi.
12به ترتیب تولد شان عبارت بودند از: نبایوت، قیدار، اَدَبئیل، مِبسام،
12Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bare unto Abraham:
13مِشماع، دومه، مسا،
13And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,
14حداد، تیما، جتور، نافیش و قدمه.
14And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,
15اینها پدران دوازده رئیس بودند و نام هر یک به قبیله و دهات و خیمه گاه آن ها داده شد.
15Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:
16اسماعیل صد و سی و هفت ساله بود که مُرد و به نزد اجداد خود رفت.
16These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.
17فرزندان اسماعیل در سرزمینی بین حویله و شور، در مشرق مصر، در راه آشور زندگی می کردند. و از فرزندان دیگر ابراهیم جدا بودند.
17And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people.
18این داستان اسحاق پسر ابراهیم است:
18And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.
19اسحاق چهل ساله بود که با ربکا دختر بِتوئیل ارامی (از اهالی بین النهرین) و خواهر لابان ازدواج کرد.
19And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac:
20چون ربکا فرزندی نداشت، اسحاق نزد خداوند دعا کرد. خداوند دعای او را مستجاب فرمود و ربکا حامله شد.
20And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.
21ربکا با دوگانگی حامله شده بود. قبل از اینکه اطفال به دنیا بیایند در شکم مادر شان به ضد یکدیگر دست و پا می زدند. ربکا گفت: «چرا باید چنین چیزی برای من به اتفاق بیفتد؟» پس رفت تا از خداوند بپرسد.
21And Isaac entreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was entreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.
22خداوند به او فرمود: «دو ملت در شکم تو می باشند. تو دو قومی را که رقیب یکدیگر اند به دنیا می آوری. یکی از دیگری قویتر می باشند و بزرگتر کوچکتر را خدمت می کند.»
22And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of the LORD.
23وقت وضع حمل او فرا رسید. او دو پسر به دنیا آورد.
23And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.
24اولی سرخ رنگ و پوستش مانند پوستین، پُر از مو بود. اسم او را عیسو گذاشتند.
24And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.
25دومی وقتی به دنیا آمد کُری پای عیسو را محکم گرفته بود. اسم او را یعقوب گذاشتند. اسحاق در موقع تولد این پسرها شصت ساله بود.
25And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.
26پسرها بزرگ شدند. عیسو شکارچی ماهری شد و صحرا را دوست می داشت، ولی یعقوب مرد آرامی بود که در خیمه گاه می ماند.
26And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.
27اسحاق عیسو را بیشتر دوست می داشت، زیرا از حیواناتی که او شکار می کرد می خورد، اما ربکا یعقوب را بسیار دوست می داشت.
27And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.
28یک روز وقتی یعقوب مشغول پختن آش بود، عیسو از شکار آمد و گرسنه بود.
28And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.
29او به یعقوب گفت: «نزدیک است از گرسنگی بمیرم. مقداری از آن آش سرخ به من بده.» (به همین دلیل است که به او ادوم یعنی سرخ می گویند.)
29And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:
30یعقوب به او گفت: «به این شرط از این آش به تو می دهم که تو حق نخست زادگی خود را به من بدهی.»
30And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.
31عیسو گفت: «بسیار خوب، چیزی نمانده که از گرسنگی بمیرم. حق نخست زادگی چه فایده ای برای من دارد؟»
31And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.
32یعقوب گفت: «اول برای من قسم بخور که حق خود را به من دادی.» عیسو، قسم خورد و حق خود را به یعقوب داد.بعد از آن یعقوب مقداری از آش را با نان به او داد. او خورد و نوشید و برخاست و رفت. به این ترتیب، عیسو نخست زادگی خود را بی ارزش شمرد.
32And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?
33بعد از آن یعقوب مقداری از آش را با نان به او داد. او خورد و نوشید و برخاست و رفت. به این ترتیب، عیسو نخست زادگی خود را بی ارزش شمرد.
33And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.
34Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentils; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.
