¹اینست دعای حبَقوق نبی:

¹A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth.

²ای خداوند، آوازۀ کارهای تو بگوش من رسید و ترس مرا فراگرفت. بار دیگر کارهای عظیمی را که در دوران گذشته اجراء می کردی به ما نشان بده و در حین غضب خود، رحمتت را بیاد آور.

²O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.

³خدا از ناحیۀ تیمان بر می گردد؛ خدای مقدس از کوهستان فاران می آید. جلال او آسمان ها را پوشانده و زمین از حمد و ستایش او پُر است.

³God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.

⁴پرتو او مثل نورِ برق درخشان است و از دستهایش که قدرت او در آن ها نهفته است، نور می تابد.

⁴And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power.

⁵مرض را پیشاپیش خود می فرستد و به مرگ امر می کند که بدنبالش بیاید.

⁵Before him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth at his feet.

⁶هنگامی که می ایستد، زمین تکان می خورد و وقتیکه نگاه می کند قومها از ترس می لرزند. کوه های جاودانی خُرد می شوند و تپه های ابدی که در زمانه های قدیم بر آن ها قدم می زد، از هم پاشیده می گردند.

⁶He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting.

⁷مردم کوشان را ترساندیم و مدیان را لرزاندیم.

⁷I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction: and the curtains of the land of Midian did tremble.

⁸ای خداوند، آیا دریاها ترا خشمگین ساختند؟ آیا بر بحرها قهر شدی که بر اسپهایت سوار شدی و عراده های پیروزی ات را راندی؟

⁸Was the LORD displeased against the rivers? was thine anger against the rivers? was thy wrath against the sea, that thou didst ride upon thine horses and thy chariots of salvation?

⁹کمانت را آماده کردی و تیرت را در کمان گذاشتی و زمین را با صاعقه شگافتی.

⁹Thy bow was made quite naked, according to the oaths of the tribes, even thy word. Selah. Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers.

¹⁰کوه ها ترا دیدند و به لرزه افتادند. سیلابها جاری شدند، اعماق بحر غرش کردند و امواج شان بالا آمدند.

¹⁰The mountains saw thee, and they trembled: the overflowing of the water passed by: the deep uttered his voice, and lifted up his hands on high.

¹¹از نور تیرها و از پرتو نیزه های بُراقت آفتاب و مهتاب جابجا ایستادند.

¹¹The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went, and at the shining of thy glittering spear.

¹²با قهر و غضب جهان را پیمودی و با خشم اقوام دنیا را پایمال کردی.

¹²Thou didst march through the land in indignation, thou didst thresh the heathen in anger.

¹³برای نجات قوم برگزیده ات شتافتی و پادشاه برگزیده ات را نجات دادی. رهبرِ مردمان شریر را نابود کردی و پیروان شان را بکلی از بین بردی.

¹³Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah.

¹⁴جنگجویان دشمن مثل گردباد آمدند تا ما را تار و مار کنند و می خواستند که مردم مسکین را از بین ببرند، اما تیرهایت سر آن ها را شگافتند.

¹⁴Thou didst strike through with his staves the head of his villages: they came out as a whirlwind to scatter me: their rejoicing was as to devour the poor secretly.

¹⁵با اسپانت از بحر عبور کردی و آبها کف کردند.

¹⁵Thou didst walk through the sea with thine horses, through the heap of great waters.

¹⁶وقتی اینها را می شنوم بدنم از ترس تکان می خورد و لبهایم می لرزند. اندامم سست می شود و پاهایم به لرزه می آیند. بخاموشی در انتظار روزی هستم که خدا آن مردمی را که ما را مورد حمله قرار دادند، جزا بدهد.

¹⁶When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops.

¹⁷اگرچه درخت انجیر شگوفه نکند، انگور در تاک نباشد، محصول زیتون از بین برود، کشتزارها غله بار نیاورند، گله ها در چراگاه تلف شوند و طویله ها از رمه خالی بمانند،

¹⁷Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

¹⁸لیکن من در خداوند شادمانی کرده و در خدای نجات دهندۀ خویش وجد خواهم نمود.خداوند متعال قوت من است. او پاهایم را مثل پاهای آهو می گرداند و مرا بر کوههای بلند خرامان می سازد.

¹⁸Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

¹⁹خداوند متعال قوت من است. او پاهایم را مثل پاهای آهو می گرداند و مرا بر کوههای بلند خرامان می سازد.

¹⁹The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.
