¹این پیام برای بابل است: لشکری از بیابان، سرزمین هولناک همچون گِردباد بیابانی بر بابل هجوم می آورد.

¹The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land.

²رؤیای وحشتناکی دیدم که خیانتکاران خیانت می کنند و تاراجگران تاراج. ای سپاه عیلام حمله ببر! ای لشکر مِدیان محاصره کن! خدا به ناله های آنهائی که اسیر مردم بابل هستند، خاتمه می دهد.

²A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease.

³آن چیزی که در رؤیا دیدم و شنیدم، دردی مانند درد زایمان در تمام وجودم تولید کرده است که پیچ و تابم می دهد و مدهوشم می کند.

³Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it.

⁴دلم می تپد و از ترس می لرزم. در انتظار یک شب آرام بودم، ولی بجای آرامش، وحشت سراسر وجودم را فرا گرفته است.

⁴My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me.

⁵در رؤیا دیدم که خانه فرش و سُفره مهیا است و همه مصروف خوردن و نوشیدن اند. ناگهان فرمان آمد: «ای سرکردگان سپاه، برخیزید با سپرهای تان آماده شوید!»

⁵Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield.

⁶آنگاه خداوند به من فرمود: «برو پهره ای بگمار تا هر چه را که می بیند اطلاع بدهد.

⁶For thus hath the LORD said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.

⁷وقتی ببیند که سواران جوره جوره بر اسپ و خر و شتر می آیند، بدقت متوجه آن ها باشد.»

⁷And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed:

⁸پهره داری را که تعیین کرده بودم صدا کرد: «آقا، روز و شب در اینجا پهره دادم،

⁸And he cried, A lion: My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights:

⁹اینک مردم را می بینم که جوره جوره بر اسپ و خر و شتر سوار هستند و به این سو می آیند.» در این وقت صدائی آمد و گفت: «بابل سقوط کرد! همه بتها به زمین افتادند و ذره ذره شدند.»

⁹And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.

¹⁰ای قوم برگزیدۀ من اسرائیل، که مانند گندم کوبیده و غربال شدید، به این خبری که از جانب خداوند قادر مطلق، خدای اسرائیل برای شما اعلام می کنم گوش بدهید.

¹⁰O my threshing, and the corn of my floor: that which I have heard of the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.

¹¹این پیام برای ادوم است: کسی از ادوم به من صدا می کند: «ای پهره دار از شب چه خبر است؟ شب چه وقت تمام می شود؟»

¹¹The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?

¹²من جواب دادم: «بزودی صبح می شود، ولی در پی آن دوباره شب می آید. اگر سوال بیشتری دارید بیائید، برگردید و بپرسید.»

¹²The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye: return, come.

¹³این پیام برای عربستان است: ای قافلۀ دَدانی ها، در بیابان خشک عربستان خیمه بزنید.

¹³The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye travelling companies of Dedanim.

¹⁴برای تشنگان آب بیاورید و ای مردم تیما، به فراریان غذا بدهید،

¹⁴The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled.

¹⁵زیرا آن ها از دم شمشیر و کمانِ کشیده و خطر جنگ فرار کرده اند.

¹⁵For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.

¹⁶خداوند به من چنین فرمود: «پوره بعد از یک سال، عظمت و شوکت قبیلۀ قیدار از بین می رود.از تیراندازان شجاع آن ها فقط چند نفر باقی می ماند. من که خداوند، خدای اسرائیل هستم این را می گویم.»

¹⁶For thus hath the LORD said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail:

¹⁷از تیراندازان شجاع آن ها فقط چند نفر باقی می ماند. من که خداوند، خدای اسرائیل هستم این را می گویم.»

¹⁷And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel hath spoken it.
