¹اینک خداوند زمین را از سکنه خالی و متروک می سازد. قشر آنرا خراب و ساکنانش را پراگنده می کند.

¹Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.

²مردم عامی و کاهن، غلام و آقا، کنیز و بی بی اش، قرض دهنده و مقروض، خریدار و فروشنده، سود دهنده و سودخوار همه به یک سرنوشت دچار می گردند.

²And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.

³زمین بکلی خالی و غارت می شود. این را خداوند فرموده است.

³The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word.

⁴زمین خشک و پژمرده می شود، بنیاد جهان سست و بلندیهایش هموار می گردد.

⁴The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.

⁵روی زمین آلوده شده است، زیرا ساکنان آن احکام خدا را بجا نیاورده و پیمان ابدی او را شکسته اند.

⁵The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.

⁶بنابران، زمین مورد لعنت قرار گرفته است و مردم آن سزای اعمال خود را می بینند و روز بروز تعداد شان کم می شود.

⁶Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

⁷تاکها بی بار و شراب نایاب می گردد و کسانی که شاد و خوشحال بودند از حسرت آه می کشند.

⁷The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh.

⁸نوای نشاط بخش دایره و چنگ شنیده نمی شود و آواز عشرت کنندگان خاموش شده است.

⁸The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.

⁹مجلس ساز و باده نوشی دیگر وجود ندارد و شراب به کام میگساران تلخ شده است.

⁹They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.

¹⁰در شهر هرج و مرج برپا است و مردم خانه های خود را بسته اند تا کسی داخل نشود.

¹⁰The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in.

¹¹همگی در کوچه ها بخاطر قلت شراب غوغا دارند. نشاط و سُرُور از بین رفته و خوشی از روی زمین رخت بربسته است.

¹¹There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.

¹²شهر ویرانه گشته است و دروازه هایش شکسته شده اند.

¹²In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.

¹³تمام روی زمین مثل درخت زیتون می شود که تکانده شده و یا خوشۀ انگور که میوه اش چیده شده باشد.

¹³When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done.

¹⁴کسانی که زنده می مانند فریاد خوشی را بلند می کنند و آواز می خوانند. مردمی که در غرب هستند عظمت خداوند را تمجید می کنند،

¹⁴They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD, they shall cry aloud from the sea.

¹⁵و آنهائی که در شرق هستند او را ستایش می کنند. باشندگان جزایر هم خداوند، خدای اسرائیل را تمجید و پرستش می کنند.

¹⁵Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea.

¹⁶از آخرین نقطۀ روی زمین صدای مردم بگوش می رسد که عادلان را توصیف می نمایند. اما افسوس که مردمان شریر به کارهای بد خود ادامه می دهند و با این اعمال خود مرا ناامید و متأثر می سازند.

¹⁶From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.

¹⁷ای مردم روی زمین بدانید که ترس و چاه و دام منتظر شما است.

¹⁷Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.

¹⁸اگر کسی از ترس فرار کند در چاه می افتد و اگر از چاه بیرون آید در دام گرفتار می شود. از آسمان بارانِ سیل آسا می بارد و اساس زمین را به لرزه می آوَرَد.

¹⁸And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.

¹⁹زمین از جا تکان خورده و شَق شده است

¹⁹The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.

²⁰و مانند شخص مستی است که اُفتان و خیزان راه می رود و همچون خیمه ای است که در برابر طوفان تکان می خورد و در زیر بار گناه خود خم شده و افتاده است و دیگر نمی تواند بپا بایستد.

²⁰The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.

²¹در آن روز خداوند نیروهای آسمان و پادشاهان جهان را مجازات می کند.

²¹And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.

²²آن ها را تا فرارسیدن روز جزا، مانند زندانیان در چاهی نگاه می دارد.آنگاه مهتاب تاریک می شود و آفتاب روشنی خود را از دست می دهد، زیرا خداوند قادر مطلق بر تخت سلطنت، بالای کوه سهیون جلوس می فرماید و عظمت و جلال او به همه حکمفرمایان جهان آشکار می شود.

²²And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.

²³آنگاه مهتاب تاریک می شود و آفتاب روشنی خود را از دست می دهد، زیرا خداوند قادر مطلق بر تخت سلطنت، بالای کوه سهیون جلوس می فرماید و عظمت و جلال او به همه حکمفرمایان جهان آشکار می شود.

²³Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.
