¹این کیست که از شهر بزرۀ ادوم با لباس سرخ و مجلل می آید و با قدرت و شکوه می خرامد؟ این خداوند قادر و توانا است و می آید تا عدالت خود و نجات مردم را اعلام کند.

¹Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.

²چرا لباس او سرخ است؟ آیا انگور را برای شراب ساختن زیر پای خود فشرده است؟

²Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?

³خداوند جواب می دهد: «بلی، من به تنهائی و بدون کمکِ کسی، مخالفین را با خشم و غضب همچون انگور زیر پاهایم پایمال کردم و خون آن ها لباس مرا سرخ و رنگین ساخت.

³I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.

⁴روز آن رسیده است که از دشمنان انتقام بگیرم و قوم برگزیدۀ خود را نجات بدهم.

⁴For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.

⁵به هر طرف نگاه کردم تا کسی را بیابم که به من کمک کند، ولی با کمال تعجب دیدم که مددگاری وجود ندارد، بنابران، بیاری قدرت و غضب خود پیروز شدم.

⁵And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.

⁶من با خشم و غضب خود اقوام جهان را پایمال و خُرد کردم و خون شان را به زمین ریختم.»

⁶And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.

⁷از احسان و لطف خداوند سخن می رانم. کارهای خداوند قابل ستایش است. او خوبی های زیادی در حق ما کرده است. قوم اسرائیل را مورد لطف و مرحمت خود قرار داد و آن ها را از محبت پایدار خود برخوردار کرد.

⁷I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

⁸خداوند فرمود: «آن ها قوم من هستند و به من خیانت نمی کنند.» پس او نجات بخشای آن ها شد

⁸For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.

⁹و آن ها را از تمام سختی ها رهائی بخشید. رسول یا فرشته ای این کار را نکرد، بلکه خود خداوند از روی محبت و شفقت آن ها را نجات داد و سالهای سال از آن ها مراقبت کرد.

⁹In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

¹⁰چون آن ها تمرد کردند و روح پاک او را افسرده ساختند، بنابران، او هم دشمن آن ها شد و علیه شان جنگید.

¹⁰But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.

¹¹آنگاه آن ها روزگار گذشته را بیاد آوردند که چطور بنده او، موسی آن ها را از مصر بیرون آورد. گفتند: کجاست آن کسی که قوم اسرائیل را از بین بحر عبور داد؟ کجاست آن خدائی که روح پاک خود را در بین آن ها فرستاد؟

¹¹Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?

¹²و بوسیلۀ موسی کارهای بزرگی انجام داد. با قدرت عظیم خود آب بحر را دو شق کرد و نام او شهرت ابدی یافت.

¹²That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name?

¹³خداوند قوم اسرائیل را از اعماقِ بحر هدایت کرد و آن ها بدون آنکه بلغزند مثل اسپهای تیزرَو می دویدند.

¹³That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?

¹⁴مانند گله ای که در وادی به آسودگی درحال چریدن باشد، روح خداوند به آن ها آرامش می بخشد. به این ترتیب، قوم برگزیدۀ خود را هدایت نمود تا نام او جلال یابد.

¹⁴As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.

¹⁵از آسمان به پائین نگاه کن و از مسکن مقدس و با شکوهت بر من نظر بیفگن. کجاست غیرت و قدرتت؟ کجاست آن دلسوزی و شفقتی که به ما داشتی؟ چرا آنرا از ما دریغ می کنی؟

¹⁵Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained?

¹⁶تو پدر ما هستی. حتی اگر ابراهیم ما را نشناسد و یعقوب از ما انکار کند، تو ای خداوند، پدر ما و نجات دهندۀ ما هستی و نام تو ازلی است.

¹⁶Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.

¹⁷ای خداوند، چرا می گذاری که ما از راه راست منحرف شویم؟ چرا دلهای ما را سخت ساخته ای که از تو نمی ترسیم؟ بخاطر بندگانت و بخاطر آنهایی که قومت هستند، به سوی ما بازگرد.

¹⁷O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants' sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.

¹⁸قوم مقدس تو برای زمان کوتاهی جایگاه مقدس ترا در تصرف خود داشتند، اما بعد دشمنان آمدند و آنرا پایمال کردند.تو با ما طوری رفتار می کنی که گوئی هیچگاهی حکمفرمای ما نبوده ای و ما بنام تو یاد نمی شویم.

¹⁸The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.

¹⁹تو با ما طوری رفتار می کنی که گوئی هیچگاهی حکمفرمای ما نبوده ای و ما بنام تو یاد نمی شویم.

¹⁹We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name.
