¹در سال دهم سلطنت صدقیا، پادشاه یهودا که همزمان با هجدهمین ‏سال پادشاهی نبوکدنصر بود، خداوند به ارمیا سخن گفت.‏

¹The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar.

²در آن وقتی که سپاه پادشاه بابل شهر اورشلیم را در محاصرۀ خود داشت، ارمیا در صحن محبس واقع در قصر شاهی، زندانی بود.

²For then the king of Babylon's army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah's house.

³صدقیا، پادشاه یهودا، ارمیا را بخاطری در زندان انداخته بود که همیشه می گفت که خداوند می فرماید: «من این شهر را به دست پادشاه بابل تسلیم می کنم و او آن را متصرف می شود.

³For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Wherefore dost thou prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it;

⁴کلدانیان صدقیا پادشاه را دستگیر کرده او را بحضور پادشاه بابل می برند تا شخصاً با او روبرو شده محاکمه اش کند.

⁴And Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes;

⁵صدقیا مدت درازی در زندان می ماند، تا اینکه من بر سر او رحم کنم. تو در برابر آن ها مقاومت می کنی، اما موفق نمی شوی.»

⁵And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I visit him, saith the LORD: though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not prosper.

⁶ارمیا گفت که در این هنگام خداوند به من فرمود: «حَنَم ئیل، پسر کاکایت، شلوم، پیش تو می آید و می گوید که مزرعۀ او را در عناتوت بخری، زیرا چون تو از بستگان نزدیک او هستی حق داری که آن را بخری.»

⁶And Jeremiah said, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

⁷پس همانطوری که خداوند فرموده بود، حَنَم ئیل در صحن زندان پیش من آمد و گفت: «مزرعۀ مرا که در عناتوت، در سرزمین بنیامین است بخر، زیرا تو بحیث نزدیکترین فرد خانواده ام حق خرید آن را داری.» آنوقت دانستم که آن پیام واقعاً از جانب خداوند بوده است.

⁷Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee saying, Buy thee my field that is in Anathoth: for the right of redemption is thine to buy it.

⁸پس من آن مزرعه را که در عناتوت بود به قیمت هفده مثقال نقره از حَنَم ئیل خریدم.

⁸So Hanameel mine uncle's son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine; buy it for thyself. Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.

⁹قبالۀ آن را در حضور شاهدان مُهر و امضاء کردم و نقره را هم وزن نموده به او پرداختم.

⁹And I bought the field of Hanameel my uncle's son, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.

¹⁰بعد قبالۀ مُهر و لاک شده را که تمام شرایط خرید و فروش در آن ثبت بود، با یک نسخۀ باز آن گرفتم

¹⁰And I subscribed the evidence, and sealed it, and took witnesses, and weighed him the money in the balances.

¹¹و در حضور پسر کاکایم، حَنَم ئیل و شاهدانی که آن را امضاء کرده بودند، همچنین یهودیانی که در آنجا حاضر بودند به باروک، پسر نیریا، نواسۀ مَحسِیا دادم.

¹¹So I took the evidence of the purchase, both that which was sealed according to the law and custom, and that which was open:

¹²و در حضور همه به باروک گفتم که

¹²And I gave the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle's son, and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.

¹³خداوند قادر مطلق، خدای اسرائیل می فرماید: «این قبالۀ مُهر شده را با نسخۀ باز آن بگیر و در یک کوزه بگذار تا مدت درازی محفوظ باشد.

¹³And I charged Baruch before them, saying,

¹⁴زیرا خداوند قادر مطلق، خدای اسرائیل، می فرماید که بار دیگر خانه، مزرعه و تاکستان در این سرزمین خرید و فروش می شود.»

¹⁴Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences, this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days.

¹⁵بعد از آنکه قباله را به باروک (پسر نیریا) دادم، بحضور خداوند دعا کردم و گفتم:

¹⁵For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.

¹⁶«ای خداوند، خدای متعال، تو بودی که با قدرت عظیم و بازوی توانایت آسمان ها و زمین را بوجود آوردی. برای تو هیچ کاری مشکل نیست.

¹⁶Now when I had delivered the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed unto the LORD, saying,

¹⁷از رحمت بی پایان خود هزاران نسل را برخوردار می سازی، اما در عین حال، فرزندان را بخاطر گناهان والدین شان به کیفر می رسانی. ای خدای بزرگ و توانا که نامت خداوند قادر مطلق است،

¹⁷Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:

¹⁸نقشه های تو حکیمانه و کارهای تو بزرگ است. چشمان تو بر اعمال همۀ انسانها باز اند و هر کسی را از روی رفتار و کردارش پاداش می دهی.

¹⁸Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name,

¹⁹نشانه ها و معجزات در مصر نشان دادی و روز به روز نامت را در بین قوم اسرائیل و بین تمام بشر معروف و مشهور می سازی.

¹⁹Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:

²⁰با دست قدرت خود قوم برگزیده ات را از سرزمین مصر بیرون آوردی و نشانه ها و معجزات در آنجا اجراء کردی و دشمنان را به وحشت انداختی.

²⁰Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day;

²¹سرزمینی را که در آن شیر و عسل جاریست و وعدۀ مِلکیتش را به اجداد شان داده بودی، به آن ها بخشیدی.

²¹And hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror;

²²اما وقتی پدران شان آمدند و آن را تصرف کردند، از کلام و احکام تو اطاعت ننمودند، بنابران، تو بر آن ها این بلاها را نازل کردی.

²²And hast given them this land, which thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey;

²³می بینی که کلدانیان برای تصرف شهر به اطراف آن سنگر گرفته اند و مردم را جنگ و قحطی و مرض تهدید می کنند و جنگ آوران ما به دست دشمنان گرفتار شده اند. درست همان طوری که تو فرموده بودی، اتفاق افتاد و خودت هم می بینی.

²³And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them:

²⁴ولی ای خداوند، خدای من، تو به من فرمودی که آن مزرعه را در حضور شاهدان بخرم. و با این وضعی که شهر دارد و به دست کلدانیان افتاده است، باز هم از امر تو اطاعت کردم.»

²⁴Behold the mounts, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence: and what thou hast spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest it.

²⁵خداوند به ارمیا فرمود:

²⁵And thou hast said unto me, O Lord GOD, Buy thee the field for money, and take witnesses; for the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

²⁶«من خداوند، خدای تمام بشر هستم. آیا کاری است که اجرای آن برایم مشکل باشد؟»

²⁶Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,

²⁷پس خداوند چنین می فرماید: «من این شهر را به دست کلدانیان و نبوکدنصر، پادشاه بابل، تسلیم می کنم و آن ها شهر را متصرف می شوند.

²⁷Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

²⁸عساکر کلدانیان به شهر داخل شده آن را آتش می زنند و خانه هائی را می سوزانند که بر بامهای آن ها برای بعل و خدایان دیگر قربانی و هدیه تقدیم می کردند و با آن اعمال خود آتش خشم مرا می افروختند.

²⁸Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it:

²⁹مردم اسرائیل و یهودا از جوانی دست به کارهای شرارت آمیز زده اند و همیشه با اعمال زشت خود مرا به خشم آورده اند.

²⁹And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger.

³⁰این شهر از روزی که آباد شد تا به امروز موجب خشم من گردیده است، بنابران، آن را از نظر خود دور می کنم.

³⁰For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith the LORD.

³¹کارهای زشت مردم اسرائیل و یهودا، گناهان پادشاهان، رهبران، کاهنان و انبیای آن ها و اهالی اورشلیم مرا خشمگین ساخته است.

³¹For this city hath been to me as a provocation of mine anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face,

³²آن ها مرا ترک کرده اند و با وجودیکه آن ها را همیشه تعلیم داده ام، به حرف من گوش نداده و اصلاح نشده اند.

³²Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

³³حتی در عبادتگاهی که به نام من یاد می شود، بت پرستی می کنند و آن را آلوده می سازند.

³³And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction.

³⁴برای بتِ بعل در وادی هِنوم قربانگاهها ساخته اند و بالای آن ها فرزندان خود را برای بتِ مولک قربانی می کنند. در حالی که من به آن ها امر نکرده ام و حتی از خاطرم نمی گذشت که مردم یهودا مرتکب چنین گناهی شوند.»

³⁴But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it.

³⁵بنابران، خداوند، خدای اسرائیل در مورد شهر اورشلیم می فرماید: «مردم می گویند که این شهر بخاطر جنگ و قحطی و بیماری به دست پادشاه بابل می افتد. اما بشنوید که من چه می گویم:

³⁵And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

³⁶من اهالی آن را از همه کشورهائی که آن ها را در اثر خشم خود به آنجا پراگنده ساختم، جمع می کنم و دوباره به اینجا می آورم تا در کمال آسودگی زندگی کنند.

³⁶And now therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence;

³⁷آن ها قوم برگزیدۀ من خواهند بود و من خدای شان.

³⁷Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely:

³⁸به آن ها یک دل و یک فکر می دهم تا بخاطر سعادت خود و نسلهای آیندۀ خود همیشه به من احترام داشته باشند.

³⁸And they shall be my people, and I will be their God:

³⁹من با آن ها یک پیمان ابدی می بندم و احسان و کَرَم خود را هیچگاهی از آن ها دریغ نمی کنم. ترس خود را در دلهای شان جا می دهم تا دیگر مرا ترک نکنند.

³⁹And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:

⁴⁰از احسان کردن به آن ها لذت می برم و آن ها را از روی وفا و از دل و جان در این سرزمین استوار و پایدار می سازم.»

⁴⁰And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

⁴¹خداوند چنین می فرماید: «به همان طوری که مصیبت بزرگی را بر سر این قوم آوردم، قرار وعده ای که داده ام سعادت و کامرانی را هم نصیب شان می کنم.

⁴¹Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

⁴²در این سرزمینی که می گویند متروک و خالی از انسان و حیوان است و به دست کلدانیان افتاده است،و همچنین در سرزمین بنیامین، اورشلیم، شهرهای یهودا، کوهستانها، دامنه های کوهها و صحرای جنوب، مزارع خرید و فروش می شوند، قباله ها در حضور شاهدان مُهر و امضاء می گردند، زیرا من این قوم را دوباره به مُلک و وطن شان باز می گردانم.» این گفتۀ خداوند است.

⁴²For thus saith the LORD; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them.

⁴³و همچنین در سرزمین بنیامین، اورشلیم، شهرهای یهودا، کوهستانها، دامنه های کوهها و صحرای جنوب، مزارع خرید و فروش می شوند، قباله ها در حضور شاهدان مُهر و امضاء می گردند، زیرا من این قوم را دوباره به مُلک و وطن شان باز می گردانم.» این گفتۀ خداوند است.

⁴³And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, It is desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

⁴⁴Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal them, and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith the LORD.
