¹خداوند می فرماید: «من باد تباه کننده ای را بر بابل و ساکنین آن می آورم

¹Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying wind;

²و بیگانگان را می فرستم تا بابل را مثل خرمن بکوبند. درآن روز بلا و مصیبت از هر طرف بر آن هجوم آورده همه چیزش را تباه می کند و خودش را ویران می سازد.

²And will send unto Babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about.

³دشمنان به مردم بابل موقع نمی دهند که تیری رها کنند و یا خود را مسلح سازند. جوانان شان را زنده نمی گذارند و تمام لشکر شان را از بین می برند.

³Against him that bendeth let the archer bend his bow, and against him that lifteth himself up in his brigandine: and spare ye not her young men; destroy ye utterly all her host.

⁴اجساد کشته شدگان و مجروحین در جاده ها دیده می شوند.

⁴Thus the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, and they that are thrust through in her streets.

⁵گرچه سرزمین اسرائیل و یهودا پُر از گناه است، اما من که خداوند قادر مطلق و خدای مقدس اسرائیل می باشم، آن ها را فراموش نکرده ام.

⁵For Israel hath not been forsaken, nor Judah of his God, of the LORD of hosts; though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.

⁶همۀ تان از بابل فرار کنید و خود را نجات بدهید، مبادا با دیگران هلاک شوید، زیرا روز انتقام من رسیده است و باید مردم بابل را به سزای گناهان شان برسانم.

⁶Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD's vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence.

⁷بابل در دست من مثل یک جام طلا بود که تمام اقوام جهان از شراب آن می نوشیدند و مست و دیوانه می شدند.

⁷Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD's hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.

⁸ولی بابل ناگهان از دست من افتاد و شکست. برایش دوا بیاورید، شاید شفا یابد.

⁸Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.

⁹بیگانگان مقیم آنجا گفتند: «ما خواستیم بابل را معالجه کنیم، اما نتوانستیم. پس او را بحالش بگذاریم و همه به وطن خود برگردیم. مجازات او به دست خدا است و خداوند او را از عالم بالا جزا بدهد.»

⁹We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.

¹⁰خداوند می فرماید که قوم برگزیدۀ من می گویند: «خداوند پشتیبان ما است، پس بیائید که به سهیون برویم و از کارهائی که خداوند، خدای ما کرده است اعلام نمائیم.»

¹⁰The LORD hath brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God.

¹¹تیرهای تان را تیز کنید و سپرهای تان را بردارید، زیرا خداوند پادشاهان ماد را می فرستد تا اراده اش را که نابودی بابل است عملی سازند، زیرا از کسانی که عبادتگاه او را بی حرمت کرده اند، انتقام می گیرد.

¹¹Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the LORD hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device is against Babylon, to destroy it; because it is the vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance of his temple.

¹²عَلمها را بر دیوارهای بابل بگذارید و از آن ها بخوبی مراقبت نمائید. در همه جا نگهبانان و پهره داران را بگمارید و کمین بگیرید. خداوند آنچه را که در مورد بابل فرموده بود عملی می کند.»

¹²Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the LORD hath both devised and done that which he spake against the inhabitants of Babylon.

¹³ای سرزمینی که از بندرگاه ها و ثروت سرشار برخوردار هستی، عاقبت تو بپایان رسیده و رشتۀ حیات ات قطع شده است.

¹³O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of thy covetousness.

¹⁴خداوند قادر مطلق بذات خود قسم خورده است که بابل را با سپاه دشمن که مثل خیل ملخ بی شمار است پُر می کند و آن ها فریاد پیروزی را بر می آورند.

¹⁴The LORD of hosts hath sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; and they shall lift up a shout against thee.

¹⁵خداوند با دست قدرت خود زمین را آفرید، با حکمت خود کائنات را بنا نهاد و با علم و دانش خود آسمان ها را برافراشت.

¹⁵He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.

¹⁶به فرمان او ابر ها در آسمان به غرش می آیند. ابر ها را از نقاط دور زمین به هوا بلند نموده برای بارش باران رعد و برق را می فرستد و باد را از محل و جایگاهش بیرون می آورد.

¹⁶When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens; and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth: he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.

¹⁷کسانی که بتها را پرستش می کنند، احمق و نادان هستند و آنهائی که بت می سازند، خجل و شرمنده می شوند، زیرا مجسمه هائی را که می سازند، بی جان هستند و اثری از حیات در آن ها نیست.

¹⁷Every man is brutish by his knowledge; every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.

¹⁸آن ها بی ارزش و گمراه کننده اند و در وقتی که سازندگان شان مجازات شوند، آن ها هم از بین می روند.

¹⁸They are vanity, the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.

¹⁹اما خداوند، خدای یعقوب مثل این بتها نیست. او همه چیز را آفریده است. اسرائیل قوم خاص او می باشد و نامش خداوند قادر مطلق است.

¹⁹The portion of Jacob is not like them; for he is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the LORD of hosts is his name.

²⁰خداوند می فرماید: «ای بابل، تو اسلحۀ جنگ من هستی؛ بوسیلۀ تو اقوام و سلطنت ها را جزا می دهم.

²⁰Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms;

²¹ذریعۀ تو اسپها را با سواران شان و عراده ها را با رانندگان شان از بین می برم.

²¹And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider;

²²توسط تو مرد و زن، پیر و جوان و پسر و دختر را هلاک می کنم.

²²With thee also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with thee will I break in pieces old and young; and with thee will I break in pieces the young man and the maid;

²³بوسیلۀ تو چوپانها را با رمه های شان و دهقانها را با گاوهای شان نابود می سازم و حاکمان و والیان را سر به نیست می کنم.»

²³I will also break in pieces with thee the shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers.

²⁴خداوند می فرماید: «من بابل را با مردم آن بخاطر خطای شان و کار بدی که در سهیون کردند، به پیش چشم تان به کیفر می رسانم.

²⁴And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the LORD.

²⁵ای بابل، ای کوه ویرانگر، چون تو جهان را خراب کردی، بنابران، من دشمن تو هستم. دستم را علیه تو دراز می کنم و از آن بلندی ترا بزیر می آورم و در آتش می اندازم. این گفتۀ خداوند است.

²⁵Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the LORD, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain.

²⁶دیگر کسی از تو سنگی را برای تهداب و بنای ساختمان نمی گیرد و برای همیشه نابود می شوی. خداوند فرموده است.

²⁶And they shall not take of thee a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but thou shalt be desolate for ever, saith the LORD.

²⁷عَلَمی را در آن سرزمین برافرازید و آهنگ جنگ را در بین اقوام جهان بنوازید و به کشورهای دیگر خبر بدهید که برای جنگ علیه بابل آماده شوند. به سپاه آرارات، مینی و اَشکَناز بگوئید که حمله کنند و اسپهای بی شمار را جمع کنید.

²⁷Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers.

²⁸لشکر پادشاهان ماد را با حاکمان و والیان و کشورهای تحت سلطۀ آن ها برای جنگ آماده سازید.

²⁸Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion.

²⁹بابل می لرزد، زیرا خداوند نقشه ای علیه آن دارد تا ویران و از سکنه خالی اش سازد.

²⁹And the land shall tremble and sorrow: for every purpose of the LORD shall be performed against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desolation without an inhabitant.

³⁰جنگجویان بابل از جنگ دست کشیده اند. در قلعه های خود مانده جرأت و نیروی خود را از دست داده اند و مانند زنان ضعیف شده اند. خانه هایش در آتش می سوزند و دروازه های شهر شکسته شده اند.

³⁰The mighty men of Babylon have forborn to fight, they have remained in their holds: their might hath failed; they became as women: they have burned her dwellingplaces; her bars are broken.

³¹قاصدان یکی از پی دیگری به پادشاه بابل خبر می برند که شهرش همه به تصرف دشمن درآمده است.

³¹One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to shew the king of Babylon that his city is taken at one end,

³²راهها را بسته و نیزارها را آتش زده اند و سپاه بابل به وحشت افتاده اند.»

³²And that the passages are stopped, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war are affrighted.

³³خداوند، خدای قادر مطلق چنین می فرماید: «دختر بابل مثل خرمنگاهی شده است و زمان آن رسیده که دشمنان بیایند و مردم آن را مانند گندم در زیر پاهای خود بکوبند.»

³³For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon is like a threshingfloor, it is time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.

³⁴مردم اورشلیم می گویند: «نبوکدنصر، پادشاه بابل، ما را کشت و خُرد کرد. همه چیز ما را از بین برد و مانند هیولائی ما را بلعید؛ شکم خود را با چیزهای خوب ما سیر کرد و خود ما را از کشور ما بیرون راند.

³⁴Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath made me an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his belly with my delicates, he hath cast me out.

³⁵بابل مسئول تمام ظلم هائی است که در اورشلیم شده و خداوند انتقام خون ما را از بابل بگیرد.»

³⁵The violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon, shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and my blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea, shall Jerusalem say.

³⁶خداوند در جواب می فرماید: «من به دعوای شما رسیدگی می کنم و انتقام شما را از آن ها می گیرم. آب بحر و چشمه های شان را خشک می کنم.

³⁶Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will plead thy cause, and take vengeance for thee; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry.

³⁷بابل را به تودۀ خاک تبدیل کرده آنجا را متروک و مسکن شغالان می سازم تا همه کس از دیدن آن وحشت کنند.

³⁷And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwellingplace for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, without an inhabitant.

³⁸مردم بابل از مستی مانند شیر نعره می زنند و مثل شیربچه ها می غرند.

³⁸They shall roar together like lions: they shall yell as lions' whelps.

³⁹من بزمی را برای شان برپا می کنم و آن ها را بیشتر مست می سازم تا از خود بی خود گردند و به خواب ابدی فرو روند و دیگر هرگز بیدار نشوند. خداوند فرموده است.

³⁹In their heat I will make their feasts, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the LORD.

⁴⁰آن ها را مثل بره و قوچ و بز به کشتارگاه می برم.»

⁴⁰I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with he goats.

⁴¹خداوند می فرماید: «بابل که زمانی مورد ستایش تمام مردم جهان قرار داشت، ببینید که چگونه سقوط کرد و حالا همه کس از دیدن وضع بد آن وحشت می کنند!

⁴¹How is Sheshach taken! and how is the praise of the whole earth surprised! how is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations!

⁴²آب بحر بر بابل سرازیر شده است و امواج خروشانش آن را پوشانده است.

⁴²The sea is come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.

⁴³شهرهایش وحشت آور و ویران شده اند. هیچ کسی در آن ها سکونت ندارد و هیچ انسانی از آنجا عبور نمی کند.

⁴³Her cities are a desolation, a dry land, and a wilderness, a land wherein no man dwelleth, neither doth any son of man pass thereby.

⁴⁴من بتِ بِل را در بابل را مجازات می کنم و آنچه را که بلعیده است، از دهانش بیرون می آورم. مردم، دیگر به بازدیدش نمی روند و دیوارهای بابل فرو می ریزند.

⁴⁴And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he hath swallowed up: and the nations shall not flow together any more unto him: yea, the wall of Babylon shall fall.

⁴⁵ای قوم برگزیدۀ من از بابل خارج شوید و خود را از خشم شدید من نجات بدهید.

⁴⁵My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD.

⁴⁶از شایعه ای که در بابل شنیده اید، نباید کمدل و هراسان شوید. هر سال شایعات مختلفی را می شنوید. مردم آوازه می اندازند که در کشور ظلم و فتنه برپا شده است یا پادشاهی علیه پادشاه دیگر می جنگد.

⁴⁶And lest your heart faint, and ye fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; a rumour shall both come one year, and after that in another year shall come a rumour, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.

⁴⁷به یقین بدانید، زمانی فرا می رسد که من تمام سرزمین بابل را با بتهایش مجازات می کنم. مردمش را شرمنده و رسوا و جاده ها را از اجساد شان پُر می سازم.

⁴⁷Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will do judgment upon the graven images of Babylon: and her whole land shall be confounded, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.

⁴⁸آنگاه آسمان ها و زمین با موجوداتی که در آن ها هستند از خوشی فریاد می زنند، زیرا ویرانگران از جانب شمال بر بابل هجوم می آورند. خداوند فرموده است.

⁴⁸Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith the LORD.

⁴⁹همانطوری که بابل باعث قتل مردم اسرائیل شد، خودش هم به همان سرنوشت دچار می شود.»

⁴⁹As Babylon hath caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the earth.

⁵⁰ای کسانی که از دم شمشیر نجات یافته اید، بروید و معطل نشوید. خداوند را از همان جای دور یاد کنید و اورشلیم را بخاطر داشته باشید.

⁵⁰Ye that have escaped the sword, go away, stand not still: remember the LORD afar off, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.

⁵¹شما می گوئید: «ما شرمنده و رسوا شده ایم و شرم از چهرۀ ما می بارد، زیرا بیگانگان آمدند و در سرزمین مقدسی که عبادتگاه خداوند در آن واقع است، جا گرفتند.»

⁵¹We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame hath covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the LORD's house.

⁵²«اما روزی آمدنی است که من تمام بتهای بابل را معدوم می سازم و در سراسر آن سرزمین صدای فریاد و نالۀ مجروحین شنیده می شود.

⁵²Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will do judgment upon her graven images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan.

⁵³اگر سر بابل به فلک برسد و هر قدر که در نیرو قدرتش افزوده شود، ویرانگری را که من می فرستم نابودش می کند.» خداوند فرموده است.

⁵³Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the LORD.

⁵⁴خداوند می فرماید: «بشنوید! صدای گریه از بابل می آید و آواز شکست بزرگی از آن سرزمین بلند است!

⁵⁴A sound of a cry cometh from Babylon, and great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans:

⁵⁵زیرا من در حال ویران کردن بابل می باشم و آواز بلند آن را خاموش می سازم. سپاه دشمن مانند امواج خروشان بحر بر آن ها هجوم می آورند و نعره زنان بر آن ها حمله می کنند.

⁵⁵Because the LORD hath spoiled Babylon, and destroyed out of her the great voice; when her waves do roar like great waters, a noise of their voice is uttered:

⁵⁶ویرانگران علیه او آمده اند. جنگجویانش را دستگیر کرده و کمان هایش را شکسته اند، زیرا من، خداوند، خدای جزا دهنده هستم و او را مطابق اعمالش سزا می دهم.

⁵⁶Because the spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompences shall surely requite.

⁵⁷پادشاهی که اسمش خداوند قادر مطلق است، می فرماید که من بزرگان، حکیمان، حاکمان، رهبران و مردان جنگی او را مست می سازم تا به خواب ابدی فرو رفته هرگز بیدار نشوند.

⁵⁷And I will make drunk her princes, and her wise men, her captains, and her rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.

⁵⁸خداوند قادر مطلق می فرماید که دیوار ضخیم بابل را ویران و با خاک یکسان می کنم و دروازه های بلندش را در آتش می سوزانم. زحمتی که مردم برای آبادی آن کشیده بودند، به هدر می رود، زیرا همه چیز طعمۀ آتش می شوند.»

⁵⁸Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the folk in the fire, and they shall be weary.

⁵⁹در سال چهارم سلطنت صدقیا، پادشاه یهودا، ارمیای نبی به سَرایا (پسر نیریا، نواسۀ مَحسِیا)، ملتزم صدقیا که قرار بود همراه او به بابل برود، هدایاتی داد.

⁵⁹The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah into Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. And this Seraiah was a quiet prince.

⁶⁰ارمیا چگونگی تمام مصایبی را که خداوند می خواست بر بابل بیاورد و فوقاً ذکر شد، در طوماری نوشت

⁶⁰So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, even all these words that are written against Babylon.

⁶¹و به سَرایا گفت: «وقتی به بابل رسیدی هرچه را که در این طومار نوشته ام بخوان

⁶¹And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When thou comest to Babylon, and shalt see, and shalt read all these words;

⁶²و بگو: «ای خداوند، تو فرمودی که این سرزمین را طوری ویران می کنی که هیچ انسان یا حیوانی در آن زنده نباشد و برای همیشه ویران باقی بماند.»

⁶²Then shalt thou say, O LORD, thou hast spoken against this place, to cut it off, that none shall remain in it, neither man nor beast, but that it shall be desolate for ever.

⁶³بعد از آنکه خواندن طومار را تمام کردی، آن را به سنگی ببند و در دریای فرات بیندازو بگو: «به همین ترتیب بابل غرق می شود و بخاطر بلائی که بر سرش می آید، دیگر هرگز بر نمی خیزد.»» این بود سخنان ارمیا.

⁶³And it shall be, when thou hast made an end of reading this book, that thou shalt bind a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of Euphrates:

⁶⁴و بگو: «به همین ترتیب بابل غرق می شود و بخاطر بلائی که بر سرش می آید، دیگر هرگز بر نمی خیزد.»» این بود سخنان ارمیا.

⁶⁴And thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her: and they shall be weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.
