1آیا در پیوستگی با مسیح دلگرم هستید؟ آیا محبت او مایۀ تسلی شماست؟ آیا با روح القدس مشارکت دارید؟ و آیا احساس مِهر و شفقت در بین شما وجود دارد؟
1If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
2پس تقاضا می کنم خوشی مرا به کمال برسانید و باهم یک فکر، محبت دو جانبه و هدف مشترک داشته باشید.
2Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3هیچ عملی را از روی هم چشمی و خودخواهی انجام ندهید، بلکه با فروتنی، دیگران را از خود بهتر بدانید.
3Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4به نفع دیگران فکر کنید و تنها در فکر خود نباشید.
4Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5طرز تفکر شما در بارۀ زندگی باید مانند طرز تفکر مسیح عیسی باشد:
5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6اگرچه او از ازل دارای اُلوهیت بود،
اینرا غنیمت نشمرد که برابری با خدا را به هر قیمتی حفظ کند،
6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7بلکه خود را از تمام برتری های آن خالی نموده
به صورت یک غلام درآمد و شبیه انسان شد.
7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8چون او به شکل انسان در میان ما ظاهر گشت، خود را پست تر ساخت و از روی اطاعت حاضر شد مرگ ـ حتی مرگ بر روی صلیب ـ را بپذیرد.
8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9از این جهت خدا او را بسیار سرافراز نمود
و نامی را که مافوق جمیع نامهاست به او عطا فرمود.
9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10تا اینکه همۀ موجودات
در آسمان و روی زمین و زیر زمین
با شنیدن نام عیسی زانو بزنند.
10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11و همه برای جلال خدای پدر، با زبان خود اعتراف کنند که عیسی مسیح، خداوند است.
11And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12بنابراین ای عزیزان من، همان طور که وقتی با شما بودم همیشه از من اطاعت می کردید، اکنون هم که از شما دور هستم، مهمتر است که از من اطاعت کنید و نجات خود را با ترس و لرز به کمال برسانید،
12Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
13زیرا خداست که از لطف خود، هم اراده و هم قدرت هرکاری را در شما ایجاد می کند.
13For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
14هر کاری را بدون شکایت و همهمه انجام دهید
14Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
15تا در زمانی که همه گمراه و سرکش هستند، شما بدون تقصیر و گناه، فرزندان بی عیب خدا باشید و مانند ستارگان در دنیای تاریک بدرخشید.
15That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
16پیام زندگی را همیشه در اختیار مردم بگذارید. اگر چنین کنید، من دلیلی خواهم داشت که در روز بزرگ مسیح به شما افتخار کنم، زیرا این نشان خواهد داد که کار و زحمت من بی فایده نبوده است.
16Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
17و حتی اگر لازم باشد که خون من مانند شراب وقف شده روی هدیۀ قربانی ایمان شما ریخته شود، در انجام این کار خوشحالم و با شما خوشی می کنم.
17Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.
18شما هم خوشحال باشید و با من خوشی کنید.
18For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.
19در عیسی خداوند امیدوار هستم که به زودی تیموتاوس را پیش شما بفرستم تا با آگاهی از احوال شما آسوده خاطر شوم.
19But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.
20او تنها کسی است که احساسات مرا درک می کند و واقعاً در فکر شماست.
20For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.
21دیگران همه به فکر خود هستند نه در فکر پیشرفت کار عیسی مسیح!
21For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.
22شما تیموتاوس را خوب می شناسید و می دانید که او چگونه مانند یک پسر نسبت به پدر خود، در انتشار انجیل به من خدمت کرده است.
22But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.
23پس امیدوارم به مجرد این که وضع من معلوم شود او را پیش شما بفرستم
23Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me.
24و در خداوند اطمینان دارم که خود من نیز به زودی نزد شما خواهم آمد.
24But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.
25لازم دانستم اپفرودیتُس را که برادر و همکار و همقطار من بوده است و شما او را برای خدمت من و رفع احتیاجاتم فرستاده بودید، نزد شما برگردانم.
25Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.
26زیرا او برای همۀ شما دلتنگ شده و از اینکه از بیماری او باخبر گشته اید، ناراحت شده است.
26For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.
27واقعاً او مریض و حتی مشرف به مرگ بود، اما خدا بر او رحم کرد و نه تنها بر او، بلکه بر من نیز رحم فرمود، مبادا این غم بر غم های دیگر من افزوده شود.
27For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
28پس می خواهم هرچه زودتر او را پیش شما بفرستم تا شما با دیدن او بار دیگر خوشحال شوید و به این وسیله غم من هم کمتر خواهد شد.
28I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.
29پس با خوشی او را به عنوان برادری در خداوند بپذیرید. به اشخاص مثل او احترام بگذارید،زیرا او نزدیک بود در راه خدمت مسیح جان بسپارد و برای اینکه نقص خدمت شما را به من جبران کند، جان خود را به خطر انداخت.
29Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation:
30زیرا او نزدیک بود در راه خدمت مسیح جان بسپارد و برای اینکه نقص خدمت شما را به من جبران کند، جان خود را به خطر انداخت.
30Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.
