¹I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings be made for all men;

¹Busa, nagatambag ako, una sa tanan, nga ang mga pagpakilooy, mga pag-ampo, mga pagpangamuyo, ug mga pagpasalamat pagabuhaton alang sa tanang mga tawo;

²for kings and all that are in dignity, that we may lead a quiet and tranquil life in all piety and gravity;

²Alang sa mga hari, ug sa tanan nga anaa sa mga kagamhanan, aron magkinabuhi kita sa mahusay ug malinaw sa bug-os nga pagka-diosnon ug kaugdang.

³for this is good and acceptable before our Saviour God,

³Kay kini maayo ug nahamut-an sa Dios nga atong Manluluwas;

⁴who desires that all men should be saved and come to [the] knowledge of [the] truth.

⁴Nga nagatinguha sa tanang mga tawo nga mangaluwas, ug nga makadangat sa pag-ila sa kamatuoran.

⁵For God is one, and [the] mediator of God and men one, [the] man Christ Jesus,

⁵Kay may usa ka Dios, ug usa usab ka Manlalaban sa taliwala sa Dios ug sa mga tawo, si Jesucristo nga tawo,

⁶who gave himself a ransom for all, the testimony [to be rendered] in its own times;

⁶Nga naghalad sa iyang kaugalingon nga lukat alang sa tanan; ang pagpamatuod pagahimoon sa iyang nagakaigo nga panahon;

⁷to which *I* have been appointed a herald and apostle, (I speak [the] truth, I do not lie,) a teacher of [the] nations in faith and truth.

⁷Diin tungod niini gitudlo ako nga magwawali ug apostol (nagapamulong ako sa kamatuoran, wala ako magbakak), nga usa ka magtutudlo sa mga Gentil diha sa pagtoo ug sa kamatuoran.

⁸I will therefore that the men pray in every place, lifting up pious hands, without wrath or reasoning.

⁸Busa nagatinguha ako nga ang mga tawo manag-ampo sa tanang dapit, nga managbayaw sa maputling mga kamot, sa walay kaligutgut ug paglalis.

⁹In like manner also that the women in decent deportment and dress adorn themselves with modesty and discretion, not with plaited [hair] and gold, or pearls, or costly clothing,

⁹Mao usab, ang mga babaye managdayandayan sa ilang kaugalingon sa bisti nga mahiangay, uban ang kaligdong ug kabuotan; dili nga may pinakulong nga buhok, ug bulawan, kun mga mutya, kun panapton nga mahal;

¹⁰but, what becomes women making profession of the fear of God, by good works.

¹⁰Kondili pinaagi sa buhat nga maayo, (ingon nga mahiangay sa mga babaye nga nagasugid sa pagka-diosnon).

¹¹Let a woman learn in quietness in all subjection;

¹¹Patun-a ang babaye sa kahilum uban sa bug-os nga pagpasakup.

¹²but I do not suffer a woman to teach nor to exercise authority over man, but to be in quietness;

¹²Kay dili ako motugot sa babaye sa pagtudlo, bisan sa paggahum sa lalake, kondili sa pagpakahilum.

¹³for Adam was formed first, then Eve:

¹³Kay si Adam mao ang una nga gihimo; unya si Eva;

¹⁴and Adam was not deceived; but the woman, having been deceived, was in transgression.

¹⁴Ug si Adam wala hinglimbongi; kondili ang babaye, sa hinglimbongan siya, nahulog sa paglapas;

¹⁵But she shall be preserved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and love and holiness with discretion.

¹⁵Apan naluwas siya pinaagi sa iyang pagpanganak, kong magpadayon sila sa pagtoo ug sa gugma, ug sa pagkabalaan nga may kabuotan.
