¹After these things the word of Jehovah came to Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram; I am thy shield, thy exceeding great reward.

¹Sa human niining mga butanga miabut ang pulong ni Jehova kang Abram, sa usa ka panan-awon, nga nagaingon: Dili ka mahadlok, Abram, ako mao ang imong kalasag, ug ang imong daku uyamut nga tumbas.

²And Abram said, Lord Jehovah, what wilt thou give me? seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus.

²Ug mitubag si Abram: O, Ginoong Jehova, unsay igahatag mo kanako, sa nagatan-aw ka nga ako walay anak, ug ang mahimong sumosunod sa akong panimalay mao man si Eliezer nga Damascohanon?

³And Abram said, Lo, to me thou hast given no seed, and behold, a son of my house will be mine heir.

³Ug si Abram miingon: Ania karon, kay wala mo ako hatagi ug kaliwat. Ug, ania karon, ang natawo sa akong panimalay, mahimo nga akong manununod.

⁴And behold, the word of Jehovah [came] to him, saying, This shall not be thine heir, but he that will come forth out of thy body shall be thine heir.

⁴Ug, ania karon, ang pulong ni Jehova miabut kaniya, nga nagaingon: Kining tawohana dili mao ang imong manununod, kondili ang nagagikan sa sulod sa imong ginhawaan mao ang imong manununod.

⁵And he led him out, and said, Look now toward the heavens, and number the stars, if thou be able to number them. And he said to him, So shall thy seed be!

⁵Ug iyang gipagula siya ug miingon kaniya: Hangda karon ang langit ug isipa ang mga bitoon, kong arang mo ba sila maisip. Ug siya miingon kaniya: Maingon usab niana ang imong kaliwatan.

⁶And he believed Jehovah; and he reckoned it to him [as] righteousness.

⁶Ug mitoo siya kang Jehova, ug kini giisip kaniya nga sa pagkamatarung.

⁷And he said to him, I am Jehovah who brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give thee this land to possess it.

⁷Ug siya miingon kaniya: Ako mao si Jehova nga nagkuha kanimo sa Ur sa mga Caldehanon aron nga igahatag ko nga imong panulondon kining yutaa.

⁸And he said, Lord Jehovah, how shall I know that I shall possess it?

⁸Ug siya mitubag: Ginoong Jehova, unsay hibaloan ko nga pagapanundon ko kini?

⁹And he said to him, Take me a heifer of three years old, and a she-goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtle-dove, and a young pigeon.

⁹Ug siya miingon kaniya: Ikuha ako ug usa ka nati nga baye sa vaca, nga totolo na ka tuig, ug usa ka kanding nga baye nga totolo na ka tuig, usa ka tokmo usab, ug usa ka kuyabog sa salampati.

¹⁰And he took all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid the half of each opposite its fellow; but the birds he did not divide.

¹⁰Gikuha kining tanan, ug gipikas niya, ug gibutang niya ang tagsa ka pikas nga giakub sa usa ka pikas, apan wala niya pagpikasa ang mga langgam.

¹¹And the birds of prey came down on the carcases; and Abram scared them away.

¹¹Ug nanugpa ang mga langgam nga manunukob sa ibabaw sa mga patay, ug giabug sila ni Abram.

¹²And as the sun was just going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, a horror, a great darkness, fell upon him.

¹²Ug sa pagkasalop sa adlaw, miabut kang Abram ang usa ka mabug-at nga katulogon; ug, tan-awa, usa ka kakugmat sa dakung kangitngit miabut kaniya.

¹³And he said to Abram, Know assuredly that thy seed will be a sojourner in a land [that is] not theirs, and they shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years.

¹³Ug miingon siya kang Abram: Sa tinuod gayud hibaloan mo nga ang imong kaliwatan magadumuloong sa usa ka yuta nga dili ila, ug didto sila mag-alagad kanila, ug sila pagasakiton sulod sa upat ka gatus ka tuig:

¹⁴But also that nation which they shall serve I will judge; and afterwards they shall come out with great property.

¹⁴Ug ang nasud usab nga ilang pagaalagaran, pagahukman ko; ug sa human niini mamahawa sila, nga adunay daghang bahandi.

¹⁵And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.

¹⁵Ug ikaw moadto sa imong mga ginikanan nga may pagpakigdait, ug igalubong ka sa pagkatigulang kaayo.

¹⁶And [in the] fourth generation they shall come hither again; for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.

¹⁶Ug sa ikaupat ka kaliwatan mobalik sila dinhi pag-usab kay ang pagkadautan sa Amorehanon wala pa mapuno hangtud karon.

¹⁷And it came to pass when the sun had gone down, and it was dark, that behold, there was a smoking furnace, and a flame of fire which passed between those pieces.

¹⁷Ug nahitabo nga sa pagkasalop na sa adlaw ug mangitngit na, tan-awa, usa ka hudno nga nag-aso ug usa ka sulo nga kalayo, nga miagi sa taliwala sa mga mananap nga pinikas.

¹⁸On the same day Jehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates;

¹⁸Niadtong adlawa nagbuhat si Jehova ug saad kang Abram, sa pag-ingon: Sa imong kaliwatan ihatag ko kining yutaa gikan sa suba sa Egipto hangtud sa suba nga daku, ang suba nga Eufrates:

¹⁹the Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,

¹⁹Ang mga Cinehanon, ang mga Cenesehanon, ug ang mga Cedmonehanon,

²⁰and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaim,

²⁰Ang mga Hetehanon, ang mga Phersehanon, ang mga Raphaitahanon,

²¹and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.

²¹Ang mga Amorehanon, ang mga Canaanhon, ang mga Gergesehanon, ug ang mga Jebusehanon.
