¹Call, I pray thee! Is there any that answereth thee? and to which of the holy ones wilt thou turn?

¹Sumangpit ka karon; anaa ba ing bisan kinsa nga motubag kanimo? Ug kinsa sa mga balaan ang imong kapasingadtoan?

²For vexation killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the simple.

²Kay ang kalibog mopatay sa tawong buang-buang, Ug ang kasina molaglag sa tawong pahong.

³I myself saw the foolish taking root, but suddenly I cursed his habitation.

³Nakita ko ang buang nga nakagamot: Apan sa gilayon gihimaraut ko ang iyang puloy-anan.

⁴His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, and there is no deliverer:

⁴Ang iyang mga anak halayo sa kaluwasan, Ug sa ganghaan sila nangadugmok, Sila walay bisan kinsa nga magaluwas kanila:

⁵Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh even out of the thorns; and the snare gapeth for his substance.

⁵Ang iyang alanihon sa mga gigutom pagakan-on, Ug kana, bisan sa katunokan pagakuhaon; Ug ang giuhaw sa bahandi motulon.

⁶For evil cometh not forth from the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;

⁶Kay ang kasakit dili magagikan sa abug, Ni ang kasamok magagula gikan sa yuta:

⁷For man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upwards.

⁷Apan ang tawo ngadto sa kasakit natawo, Ingon nga ang aligato sa itaas mopaingon.

⁸But as for me I will seek unto ùGod, and unto God commit my cause;

⁸Apan sa akong bahin, ang Dios maoy akong pangitaon, Ug sa Dios ang akong tuyo adto ko igatugyan;

⁹Who doeth great things and unsearchable, marvellous things without number;

⁹Nga nagabuhat sa mga dagkung butang ug dili matukib, Mga butang katingalahan nga dili maihap;

¹⁰Who giveth rain on the face of the earth, and sendeth waters on the face of the fields;

¹⁰Nga sa kalibutan nagahatag ug ulan, Ug sa kabaulan nagpadala ug tubig;

¹¹Setting up on high those that are low; and mourners are exalted to prosperity.

¹¹Sa pagkaagi nga kadtong mga atua sa ubos ngadto sa itaas iyang gipahamutang, Ug kadtong nanagbakho ngadto sa kaluwasan ginabayaw.

¹²He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, and their hands carry not out the enterprise.

¹²Siya magasumpo sa mga hunahuna sa malimbungon, Sa pagkaagi nga ang ilang mga kamot dili makahimo sa ilang mga bulohaton.

¹³He taketh the wise in their own craftiness; and the counsel of the wily is carried headlong:

¹³Siya magadakup sa mga maalam diha sa ilang kaugalingong kabatid: Ug ang sabutsabut sa mga guatsinanggo mahimong pakyas.

¹⁴They meet with darkness in a the daytime, and grope at midday as in the night.

¹⁴Ang kadulom maoy ilang ihibalag sa maadlaw, Ug sa udto magasukarap sila ingon sa magabii.

¹⁵And he saveth the needy from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.

¹⁵Apan siya nagaluwas gikan sa espada sa ilang baba, Bisan ang mga kabus gikan sa kamot sa mga makagagahum.

¹⁶So the poor hath what he hopeth for, and unrighteousness stoppeth her mouth.

¹⁶Busa ang kabus may palaabuton, Ug ang kasal-anan magatak-om sa baba niya.

¹⁷Behold, happy is the man whom +God correcteth; therefore despise not the chastening of the Almighty.

¹⁷Ania karon, bulahan ang tawo nga pagabadlongon sa Dios: Busa ayaw pagbiaybiay sa mga castigo sa Makagagahum.

¹⁸For he maketh sore, and bindeth up; he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

¹⁸Kay siya magahatag sa sakit ug pagabugkosan; Siya magasamad ug ang iyang mga kamot maoy magaayo.

¹⁹He will deliver thee in six troubles, and in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

¹⁹Siya magaluwas kanimo sa unom ka kasamok; Oo, bisan sa pipito ang kadaut dili makadapat kanimo.

²⁰In famine he will redeem thee from death, and in war from the power of the sword.

²⁰Sa tinggutom magaluwas siya kanimo gikan sa kamatayon; Ug sa gubat gikan sa kagahum sa espada.

²¹Thou shalt be hidden from the scourge of the tongue; and thou shalt not be afraid of destruction when it cometh.

²¹Ikaw pagatagoan gikan sa hampak sa dila; Ni malisang ikaw sa pagkalaglag sa modangat kini.

²²At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh, and of the beasts of the earth thou shalt not be afraid.

²²Ang pagkalaglag ug tinggutom imong pagakataw-an; Ni malisang ikaw sa mga mananap sa yuta.

²³For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field, and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.

²³Kay ikaw magpakig-uyon sa mga bato sa kapatagan; Ug ang mga mananap sa kapatagan makigdait kanimo.

²⁴And thou shalt know that thy tent is in peace; and thou wilt survey thy fold, and miss nothing.

²⁴Ug ikaw masayud nga ang imong balong-balong anaa sa pakigdait; Ug ikaw modu-aw sa imong pinuy-anan ug kanimo walay mawala.

²⁵And thou shalt know that thy seed is numerous, and thine offspring as the herb of the earth.

²⁵Ikaw masayud usab nga ang imong kaliwat mahimong daku, Ug ang imong anak sama sa kabalilihan sa yuta.

²⁶Thou shalt come to the grave in a ripe age, as a shock of corn is brought in in its season.

²⁶Ikaw moadto sa imong lubnganan sa hingkud nga panuigon, Sama sa usa ka tapok sa trigo nga maani sa iyang panahon.

²⁷Behold this, we have searched it out, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thyself.

²⁷Ania karon, kana atong gisusi, busa mao man kana; Patalinghugi kana, ug kana tulotimbanga alang sa imong kaayohan.
