1I said in my heart, Come now, I will try thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure. But behold, this also is vanity.
1 Dywedais wrthyf fy hun, "Tyrd yn awr, gad imi brofi pleser, a'm mwynhau fy hun,"
2I said of laughter, Madness! and of mirth, What availeth it?
2 ond yr oedd hyn hefyd yn wagedd. Dywedais fod chwerthin yn ynfydrwydd, ac nad oedd pleser yn dda i ddim.
3I searched in my heart how to cherish my flesh with wine, while practising my heart with wisdom; and how to lay hold on folly, till I should see what was that good for the children of men which they should do under the heavens all the days of their life.
3 Ceisiais godi fy nghalon � gwin, gan ofalu fy mod yn ymddwyn yn ddoeth ac yn ffrwyno ffolineb, nes imi weld beth oedd yn dda i bobl ei wneud dan y nef yn ystod cyfnod byr eu hoes.
4I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards;
4 Gwneuthum bethau mawr: adeiledais dai i mi fy hun, a phlannu gwinllannoedd;
5I made me gardens and parks, and I planted trees in them of every kind of fruit;
5 gwneuthum erddi a pherllannau, a phlannu pob math ar goed ffrwythau ynddynt;
6I made me ponds of water, to water therewith the wood, where the trees are reared.
6 gwneuthum hefyd lynnoedd i ddyfrhau ohonynt y llwyni coed oedd yn tyfu;
7I acquired servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of herds and flocks, above all that had been in Jerusalem before me.
7 prynais gaethion, yn ddynion a merched, ac yr oedd gennyf weision wedi eu geni yn fy nhu375?; yr oedd gennyf fwy o wartheg a defaid nag unrhyw un a fu o'm blaen yn Jerwsalem;
8I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces; I got me men-singers and women-singers, and the delights of the children of men, a wife and concubines.
8 cesglais arian ac aur, trysorau brenhinoedd a thaleithiau; yr oedd gennyf hefyd gantorion a chantoresau, a digonedd o ferched gordderch i ddifyrru dynion.
9And I became great, and increased more than all that had been before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me.
9 Deuthum yn enwog, ac yn fwy llwyddiannus nag unrhyw un a fu o'm blaen yn Jerwsalem; ac eto glynais wrth ddoethineb.
10And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them: I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour, and this was my portion from all my labour.
10 Nid oeddwn yn cadw draw oddi wrth unrhyw beth a chwenychai fy llygaid, nac yn troi ymaith oddi wrth unrhyw bleser. Yn wir yr oeddwn yn cael llawenydd yn fy holl lafur, a hyn oedd fy nh�l am fy holl waith.
11Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that it had cost me to do [them]; and behold, all was vanity and pursuit of the wind, and there was no profit under the sun.
11 Yna, pan drois i edrych ar y cyfan a wnaeth fy nwylo a'r llafur yr ymdrechais i'w gyflawni, gwelwn nad oedd y cyfan ond gwagedd ac ymlid gwynt, heb unrhyw elw dan yr haul.
12And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly; for what shall the man [do] that cometh after the king? -- that which hath already been done.
12 Yna trois i edrych ar ddoethineb, ac ar ynfydrwydd a ffolineb. Beth rhagor y gall y sawl a ddaw ar �l y brenin ei wneud nag sydd eisoes wedi ei wneud?
13And I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as light excelleth darkness.
13 Yna gwelais fod doethineb yn werthfawrocach nag ynfydrwydd, fel y mae goleuni yn werthfawrocach na thywyllwch.
14The wise man's eyes are in his head, and the fool walketh in darkness; but I myself also perceived that one event happeneth to them all.
14 Y mae'r doeth �'i lygaid yn ei ben, ond y mae'r ff�l yn rhodio yn y tywyllwch; eto canf�m mai'r un peth yw tynged y ddau.
15And I said in my heart, As it happeneth to the fool so will it happen even to me; and why was I then so wise? Then I said in my heart that this also is vanity.
15 Yna dywedais wrthyf fy hun, "Yr un peth a ddigwydd i mi ac i'r ff�l. Pa elw a gaf o fod yn ddoeth?" Yna dywedais, "Y mae hyn hefyd yn wagedd."
16For there shall be no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; because everything is already forgotten in the days which come. And how dieth the wise even as the fool?
16 Oherwydd ni chofir am byth am y doeth mwy na'r ff�l, ond fe anghofir am y naill a'r llall fel yr �'r dyddiau heibio; yn wir, marw y mae'r doeth fel y ff�l.
17And I hated life; for the work that is wrought under the sun was grievous unto me; for all is vanity and pursuit of the wind.
17 Yna deuthum i gas�u bywyd, gan fod y cyfan sy'n digwydd dan yr haul yn achosi blinder imi; yn wir y mae'r cyfan yn wagedd ac yn ymlid gwynt.
18And I hated all my labour wherewith I had been toiling under the sun, because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me.
18 Yr oeddwn yn cas�u'r holl lafur a gyflawnais dan yr haul, gan y bydd yn rhaid imi ei adael i'r un a ddaw ar fy �l;
19And who knoweth whether he will be a wise [man] or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour at which I have laboured, and wherein I have been wise under the sun. This also is vanity.
19 a phwy sy'n gwybod ai doeth ynteu ff�l fydd hwnnw? Ac eto, ef fydd yn rheoli'r holl lafur a gyflawnais mewn doethineb dan yr haul. Y mae hyn hefyd yn wagedd.
20Then I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labour wherewith I had laboured under the sun.
20 Yna euthum i anobeithio'n llwyr am yr holl lafur a gyflawnais dan yr haul.
21For there is a man whose labour hath been with wisdom, and with knowledge, and with skill, and who leaveth it to a man that hath not laboured therein, to be his portion. This also is vanity and a great evil.
21 Oherwydd y mae'r sawl a lafuriodd yn ddoeth a deallus a chyda medr yn gadael ei eiddo i un na lafuriodd amdano. Y mae hyn hefyd yn wagedd ac yn flinder mawr.
22For what will man have of all his labour and of the striving of his heart, wherewith he hath wearied himself under the sun?
22 Beth a gaiff neb am yr holl lafur a'r ymdrech a gyflawnodd dan yr haul?
23For all his days are sorrows, and his travail vexation: even in the night his heart taketh no rest. This also is vanity.
23 Oherwydd y mae ei holl ddyddiau yn ofidus, a'i orchwyl yn boenus; a hyd yn oed yn y nos nid oes gorffwys i'w feddwl. Y mae hyn hefyd yn wagedd.
24There is nothing good for man, but that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.
24 Nid oes dim yn well i neb na bwyta ac yfed a chael mwynhad o'i lafur. Yn wir gwelais fod hyn yn dod oddi wrth Dduw;
25For who can eat, or who be eager, more than I?
25 oherwydd pwy all fwyta a chael mwynhad hebddo ef?
26For he giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy; but to the sinner he giveth travail to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good in God's sight. This also is vanity and pursuit of the wind.
26 Yn wir, y mae Duw yn rhoi doethineb, deall a llawenydd i'r sawl sy'n dda yn ei olwg, ond i'r un sy'n pechu fe roddir y dasg o gasglu a chronni ar gyfer yr un sy'n dda yng ngolwg Duw. Y mae hyn hefyd yn wagedd ac yn ymlid gwynt.
