Hosea

10

1Israel is an unpruned vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the abundance of his fruit he hath multiplied altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly statues.
1 Gwinwydden doreithiog oedd Israel, a'i ffrwyth yr un fath hi. Fel yr amlhaodd ei ffrwyth, amlhaodd yntau allorau; fel y daeth ei dir yn well, gwnaeth yntau ei golofnau yn well.
2Their heart is divided; now shall they be found guilty: he will break down their altars, he will destroy their statues.
2 Aeth eu calon yn ffals, ac yn awr y maent yn euog. Dryllia ef eu hallorau, a difetha'u colofnau.
3For now they will say, We have no king, for we feared not Jehovah; and a king, what can he do for us?
3 Yn awr y maent yn dweud, "Nid oes inni frenin, am nad ydym yn ofni'r ARGLWYDD, a pha beth a wni brenin i ni?"
4They speak [mere] words, swearing falsely in making a covenant; therefore shall judgment spring up as hemlock in the furrows of the fields.
4 Llefaru geiriau y maent, a gwneud cyfamod llwon ffals. Y mae barn yn codi fel chwyn gwenwynllyd yn rhychau'r maes.
5The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calf of Beth-aven; for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the idolatrous priests thereof shall tremble for it, for its glory, because it is departed from it.
5 Y mae trigolion Samaria yn crynu o achos llo Beth-afen. Y mae ei bobl yn galaru amdano, a'i eilun-offeiriaid yn wylofain amdano, am i'w ogoniant ymadael oddi wrtho.
6Yea, it shall be carried unto Assyria [as] a present for king Jareb: Ephraim shall be seized with shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.
6 Fe'i dygir ef i Asyria, yn anrheg i frenin mawr. Gwneir Effraim yn warth a chywilyddia Israel oherwydd ei eilun.
7As for Samaria her king is cut off as chips upon the face of the waters.
7 Y mae brenin Samaria yn gyffelyb i frigyn ar wyneb dyfroedd.
8And the high places of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up upon their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us! and to the hills, Fall on us!
8 Distrywir uchelfeydd Beth-afen, pechod Israel; tyf drain a mieri ar eu hallorau; a dywedant wrth y mynyddoedd, "Cuddiwch ni", ac wrth y bryniau, "Syrthiwch arnom".
9From the days of Gibeah hast thou sinned, O Israel: there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity did not overtake them.
9 "Er dyddiau Gibea pechaist, O Israel; safasant yno mewn gwrthryfel. Onni ddaw rhyfel arnynt yn Gibea?
10At my pleasure will I chastise them; and the peoples shall be assembled against them, when they are bound for their two iniquities.
10 Dof i'w cosbi, a chasglu pobloedd yn eu herbyn, pan gaethiwir hwy am eu drygioni deublyg.
11And Ephraim is a trained heifer, that loveth to tread out [the corn]; I have passed over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to draw; Judah shall plough, Jacob shall break his clods.
11 "Heffer wedi ei thorri i mewn yw Effraim; y mae'n hoff o ddyrnu; gosodaf iau ar ei gwar deg, a rhof Effraim mewn harnais; bydd Jwda yn aredig, a Jacob yn llyfnu iddo.
12Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap according to mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek Jehovah, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
12 Heuwch gyfiawnder, a byddwch yn medi ffyddlondeb; triniwch i chwi fraenar; y mae'n bryd ceisio'r ARGLWYDD, iddo ddod a glawio cyfiawnder arnoch.
13Ye have ploughed wickedness, reaped iniquity, eaten the fruit of lies; for thou didst confide in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
13 "Buoch yn aredig drygioni, yn medi anghyfiawnder, ac yn bwyta ffrwyth celwydd. "Am iti ymddiried yn dy ffordd, ac yn nifer dy ryfelwyr,
14And a tumult shall arise among thy peoples, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Beth-arbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces with the children.
14 fe gwyd terfysg ymysg dy bobl, a dinistrir dy holl amddiffynfeydd, fel y dinistriwyd Beth-arbel gan Salman yn nydd rhyfel, a dryllio'r fam gyda'i phlant.
15So shall Bethel do unto you because of the wickedness of your wickedness: at day-break shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.
15 Felly y gwneir i chwi, Bethel, oherwydd eich drygioni mawr; gyda'r wawr torrir brenin Israel i lawr."
