Isaiah

9

1Nevertheless the darkness shall not be as when the distress was in the [land], at the time he at first lightly, and afterwards heavily, visited the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, -- the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations:
1 Ond ni fydd tywyllwch eto i'r sawl a fu mewn cyfyngder. Yn yr amser gynt bu camdrin ar wlad Sabulon a gwlad Nafftali, ond ar l hyn bydd yn anrhydeddu Galilea'r cenhedloedd, ar ffordd y mr, dros yr Iorddonen.
2the people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; they that dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them light hath shone.
2 Y bobl oedd yn rhodio mewn tywyllwch a welodd oleuni mawr; y rhai a fu'n byw mewn gwlad o gaddug dudew a gafodd lewyrch golau.
3Thou hast multiplied the nation, hast increased its joy: they joy before thee like to the joy in harvest; as [men] rejoice when they divide the spoil.
3 Amlheaist orfoledd iddynt, chwanegaist lawenydd; llawenhnt o'th flaen fel yn adeg y cynhaeaf, ac fel y byddant yn gorfoleddu wrth rannu'r ysbail.
4For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.
4 Oherwydd drylliaist yr iau oedd yn faich iddynt, a'r croesfar oedd ar eu hysgwydd, a'r ffon oedd gan eu gyrrwr, fel yn nydd Midian.
5For every boot of him that is shod for the tumult, and the garment rolled in blood, shall be for burning, fuel for fire.
5 Pob esgid ar droed rhyfelwr mewn ysgarmes, a phob dilledyn wedi ei drybaeddu mewn gwaed, fe'u llosgir fel tanwydd.
6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name is called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty ùGod, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace.
6 Canys bachgen a aned i ni, mab a roed i ni, a bydd yr awdurdod ar ei ysgwydd. Fe'i gelwir, "Cynghorwr rhyfeddol, Duw cadarn, Tad bythol, Tywysog heddychlon".
7Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with judgment and with righteousness, from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this.
7 Ni bydd diwedd ar gynnydd ei lywodraeth, nac ar ei heddwch i orsedd Dafydd a'i frenhiniaeth, i'w sefydlu'n gadarn barn a chyfiawnder, o hyn a hyd byth. Bydd sl ARGLWYDD y Lluoedd yn gwneud hyn.
8The Lord sent a word unto Jacob, and it lighteth upon Israel.
8 Anfonodd yr ARGLWYDD air yn erbyn Jacob, ac fe ddisgyn ar Israel.
9And all the people shall know [it], Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in pride and stoutness of heart,
9 Gostyngir yr holl bobl Effraim a thrigolion Samaria sy'n dweud mewn balchder a thraha,
10The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones; the sycamore trees are cut down, but we will replace them with cedars.
10 "Syrthiodd y priddfeini, ond fe adeiladwn ni cherrig nadd; torrwyd y prennau sycamor, ond fe rown ni gedrwydd yn eu lle."
11And Jehovah will set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and arm his enemies,
11 Y mae'r ARGLWYDD yn codi gwrthwynebwyr yn eu herbyn; y mae'n cyffroi eu gelynion.
12the Syrians on the east, and the Philistines on the west; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still.
12 Y mae Syriaid o'r dwyrain a Philistiaid o'r gorllewin yn ysu Israel a'u safnau'n agored. Er hynny ni throdd ei lid ef, ac y mae'n dal i estyn allan ei law.
13But the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, and they do not seek Jehovah of hosts.
13 Ond ni throdd y bobl at yr un a'u trawodd, na cheisio ARGLWYDD y Lluoedd;
14And Jehovah will cut off from Israel head and tail, palm-branch and rush, in one day:
14 am hynny tyr yr ARGLWYDD ymaith o Israel y pen a'r gynffon, y gangen balmwydd a'r frwynen mewn un dydd;
15the ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.
15 yr hynafgwr a'r anrhydeddus yw'r pen, y proffwyd sy'n dysgu celwydd yw'r gynffon.
16For the guides of this people mislead [them]; and they that are guided by them are swallowed up.
16 Y rhai sy'n arwain y bobl hyn sy'n peri iddynt gyfeiliorni; a'r rhai a arweiniwyd sy'n cael eu drysu.
17Therefore the Lord will not rejoice in their young men, neither will he have mercy on their fatherless and on their widows; for every one is a hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still.
17 Am hynny nid arbed yr ARGLWYDD eu gwu375?r ifainc, ac ni thosturia wrth eu hamddifaid na'u gweddwon. Y mae pob un ohonynt yn annuwiol a drygionus, a phob genau yn traethu ynfydrwydd. Er hynny ni throdd ei lid ef, ac y mae'n dal i estyn allan ei law.
18For wickedness burneth as a fire: it devoureth briars and thorns, and kindleth in the thickets of the forest, and they go rolling up like a pillar of smoke.
18 Oherwydd y mae drygioni yn llosgi fel tn, yn ysu'r mieri a'r drain, yn cynnau yn nrysni'r coed, ac yn codi'n golofnau o fwg.
19Through the wrath of Jehovah of hosts is the land burned up, and the people is as fuel for fire: a man spareth not his brother;
19 Gan ddigofaint ARGLWYDD y Lluoedd y mae'r wlad ar dn; y mae'r bobl fel tanwydd, ac nid arbedant ei gilydd.
20and he snatcheth on the right hand, and is hungry, and eateth on the left hand; and they are not satisfied. They eat every man the flesh of his own arm:
20 Cipia un o'r dde, ond fe newyna; bwyta'r llall o'r chwith, ond nis digonir. Bydd pob un yn bwyta cnawd ei blant
21Manasseh, Ephraim, and Ephraim, Manasseh; [and] they together are against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still.
21 Manasse Effraim, ac Effraim Manasse, ac ill dau yn erbyn Jwda. Er hynny ni throdd ei lid ef, ac y mae'n dal i estyn allan ei law.
