1The word that came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,
1 Dyma'r gair a ddaeth at Jeremeia oddi wrth yr ARGLWYDD:
2Arise and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
2 "Cod a dos i lawr i du375?'r crochenydd; yno y paraf i ti glywed fy ngeiriau."
3And I went down to the potter's house; and behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
3 Euthum i lawr i du375?'r crochenydd, a'i gael yn gweithio ar y droell.
4And the vessel that he made was marred, as clay, in the hand of the potter; and he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make.
4 A difwynwyd yn llaw'r crochenydd y llestr pridd yr oedd yn ei lunio, a gwnaeth ef yr eildro yn llestr gwahanol, fel y gwelai'n dda.
5And the word of Jehovah came to me, saying,
5 Yna daeth gair yr ARGLWYDD ataf,
6House of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith Jehovah. Behold, as the clay in the potter's hand, so are ye in my hand, house of Israel.
6 "Oni allaf fi eich trafod chwi, tu375? Israel, fel y mae'r crochenydd hwn yn ei wneud 'r clai?" medd yr ARGLWYDD. "Fel clai yn llaw'r crochenydd, felly yr ydych chwi yn fy llaw i, tu375? Israel.
7At the moment that I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to break down, and to destroy,
7 Ar unrhyw funud gallaf benderfynu diwreiddio a thynnu i lawr, a difetha cenedl neu deyrnas.
8if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turn from their evil, then I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
8 Ac os bydd y genedl honno y lleferais yn ei herbyn yn troi oddi wrth ei drygioni, gallaf ailfeddwl am y drwg a fwriedais iddi.
9And at the moment that I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant,
9 Ar unrhyw funud gallaf benderfynu adeiladu a phlannu cenedl neu deyrnas,
10if it do evil in my sight, that it hearken not unto my voice, then I will repent of the good wherewith I said I would benefit them.
10 ond os gwna'r genedl honno ddrygioni yn fy ngolwg, a gwrthod gwrando arnaf, gallaf ailfeddwl am y da a addewais iddi.
11And now, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I prepare evil against you, and devise a device against you: turn ye then every one from his evil way, and amend your ways and your doings.
11 Yn awr dywed wrth bobl Jwda ac wrth breswylwyr Jerwsalem, 'Fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD: Wele fi'n llunio drwg yn eich erbyn, ac yn cynllunio yn eich erbyn. Dychwelwch, yn wir, bob un o'i ffordd ddrwg, a gwella'ch ffyrdd a'ch gweithredoedd.'
12But they say, There is no hope; for we will walk after our own devices, and we will each one do [according to] the stubbornness of his evil heart.
12 Ond dywedant hwy, 'Y mae pethau wedi mynd yn rhy bell. Dilynwn ein bwriadau ein hunain, a gweithredwn bob un yn l ystyfnigrwydd ei galon ddrygionus.'"
13Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Ask ye now among the nations, Who hath heard such things? The virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing.
13 Am hynny, fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD: "Ymofynnwch ymhlith y cenhedloedd, pwy a glywodd ddim tebyg i hyn. Gwnaeth y forwyn Israel beth erchyll iawn.
14Shall the snow of Lebanon cease from the rock of the field? Shall the cool flowing waters coming from afar be dried up?
14 A gilia eira Lebanon oddi ar greigiau'r llethrau? A sychir dyfroedd yr ucheldir, sy'n ffrydiau oerion?
15For my people hath forgotten me: they burn incense to vanity; and they have caused them to stumble in their ways, the ancient paths, to walk in by-paths of a way not cast up;
15 Ond mae fy mhobl wedi f'anghofio, ac wedi arogldarthu i dduwiau gau a barodd iddynt dramgwyddo yn eu ffyrdd, yr hen rodfeydd, a cherdded llwybrau mewn ffyrdd heb eu trin.
16to make their land an astonishment, a perpetual hissing: every one that passeth by shall be astonished, and shake his head.
16 Gwnaethant eu tir yn anghyfannedd, i rai chwibanu drosto hyd byth; bydd pob un sy'n mynd heibio iddo yn synnu, ac yn ysgwyd ei ben.
17As with an east wind will I scatter them before the enemy; I will shew them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.
17 Fel gwynt y dwyrain y chwalaf hwy o flaen y gelyn; yn nydd eu trychineb dangosaf iddynt fy ngwegil, nid fy wyneb."
18And they said, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor word from the prophet. Come and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.
18 A dywedodd y bobl, "Dewch, gwnawn gynllwyn yn erbyn Jeremeia; ni chiliodd cyfarwyddyd oddi wrth yr offeiriad, na chyngor oddi wrth y doeth, na gair oddi wrth y proffwyd; dewch, gadewch inni ei faeddu 'r tafod, a pheidio ag ystyried yr un o'i eiriau."
19Jehovah, give heed to me, and listen to the voice of those that contend with me.
19 Ystyria fi, O ARGLWYDD, a chlyw beth y mae f'achwynwyr yn ei ddweud.
20Shall evil be recompensed for good? For they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before thee to speak good for them, to turn away thy wrath from them.
20 A ad-delir drwg am dda? Cloddiasant bwll ar fy nghyfer. Cofia imi sefyll o'th flaen, i lefaru'n dda amdanynt ac i droi ymaith dy ddig oddi wrthynt.
21Therefore give up their children to the famine, and deliver them over to the power of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of children and be widows; and let their men be swept off by death, their young men be smitten by the sword in battle.
21 Am hynny rho'u plant i'r newyn, lladder hwy trwy rym y cleddyf; bydded eu gwragedd yn weddwon di-blant, a'u gwu375?r yn farw gelain, a'u gwu375?r ifainc wedi eu taro 'r cleddyf mewn rhyfel.
22Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them; for they have digged a pit to take me, and have hidden snares for my feet.
22 Bydded i waedd godi o'u tai, am i'r ysbeiliwr ddod yn ddisymwth ar eu gwarthaf; canys cloddiasant bwll i'm dal, a chuddio maglau i'm traed.
23And thou, Jehovah, knowest all their counsel against me to slay me. Forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee: deal with them in the time of thine anger.
23 Ond yr wyt ti, O ARGLWYDD, yn gwybod am eu holl gynllwyn yn f'erbyn, i'm lladd. Paid maddau iddynt eu camwedd, na dileu eu pechod o'th u373?ydd. Bydded iddynt faglu o'th flaen; delia hwy yn awr dy ddigofaint.
