¹And there came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me.

²And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

²Ja mulle tuli Issanda sõna; ta ütles:

³Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumbling-block of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them?

³'Inimesepoeg, need mehed on võtnud oma ebajumalad südamesse ja on pannud oma süü komistuskivi oma palge ette. Kas ma tõesti pean laskma ennast nende poolt küsitleda?

⁴Therefore speak to them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumbling-block of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet, I Jehovah will answer him according to this, according to the multitude of his idols:

⁴Seepärast räägi nendega ja ütle neile: Nõnda ütleb Issand Jumal: Igale Iisraeli soost mehele, kes võtab oma ebajumalad südamesse, paneb oma süü komistuskivi oma palge ette ja tuleb siis prohveti juurde, temale kostan mina, Issand ise, tema paljude ebajumalate pärast,

⁵that I may take the house of Israel by their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

⁵et saaksin haarata Iisraeli sugu nende südamest, sellepärast et nad kõik on minust võõrdunud oma ebajumalate tõttu!

⁶Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Return ye, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

⁶Seepärast ütle Iisraeli soole: Nõnda ütleb Issand Jumal: Pöörduge ümber ja taganege oma ebajumalaist ning pöörake ära oma palged kõigist oma jäledatest häbitegudest!

⁷For every one of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, who separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumbling-block of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet to inquire of me by him, I Jehovah will answer him by myself;

⁷Sest kes iganes Iisraeli soost või Iisraelis asuvaist võõraist loobub minust ja võtab oma ebajumalad enesele südamesse ja kes paneb oma komistuskivi oma palge ette ning tuleb siis prohveti juurde, küsima minult enesele nõu, sellele vastan mina, Issand, ise.

⁸and I will set my face against that man, and will make him desolate, [so that he shall be] for a sign and for proverbs, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people: and ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah.

⁸Mina pööran oma palge selle mehe vastu ning teen ta märklauaks ja pilkesõnaks, ja ma hävitan tema oma rahva seast; ja te saate tunda, et mina olen Issand.

⁹And if the prophet be enticed and shall speak a word, I Jehovah have enticed that prophet; and I will stretch out my hand against him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

⁹Ja kui prohvet laseb ennast eksitada ning ütleb sõna, siis olen mina, Issand, selle prohveti eksitaja; ja ma sirutan oma käe tema vastu ning hävitan tema oma Iisraeli rahva seast.

¹⁰And they shall bear their iniquity: the iniquity of the prophet shall be even as the iniquity of the inquirer;

¹⁰Nad peavad kandma oma süüd - nagu küsija süü, nõnda on ka prohveti süü -,

¹¹that the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither make themselves any more unclean with all their transgressions; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, saith the Lord Jehovah.

¹¹et Iisraeli sugu enam ei eksiks ära minu juurest ega rüvetaks ennast enam kõigi oma üleastumistega, vaid et nad oleksid mulle rahvaks ja mina oleksin neile Jumalaks, ütleb Issand Jumal.'

¹²And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

¹²Ja mulle tuli Issanda sõna; ta ütles:

¹³Son of man, when a land sinneth against me by working unfaithfulness, and I stretch out my hand upon it, and break the staff of the bread thereof, and send famine upon it, and cut off man and beast from it;

¹³'Inimesepoeg! Kui maa teeb pattu minu vastu, olles täiesti truudusetu, ja kui ma sirutan oma käe tema vastu ja murran katki tema leivatoe, läkitan sinna nälja ja hävitan sealt inimesed ja loomad,

¹⁴though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, should be in it, they should deliver [but] their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord Jehovah.

¹⁴ja selle keskel oleksid ka need kolm meest: Noa, Taaniel ja Iiob, siis päästaksid nad oma õiguse tõttu ainult omaenese hinged, ütleb Issand Jumal.

¹⁵If I cause evil beasts to pass through the land, and they bereave it, and it become a desolation, so that no one passeth through because of the beasts;

¹⁵Või kui ma lasen kurjad metsloomad käia mööda maad ja selle lastetuks teha, ja see muutub lagedaks, nõnda et see pole läbitav metsloomade tõttu,

¹⁶-- though these three men should be in it, [as] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, they should deliver neither sons nor daughters: they only should be delivered, and the land should be a desolation.

¹⁶siis need kolm meest selle keskel, nii tõesti kui ma elan, ütleb Issand Jumal, ei päästaks oma poegi ega tütreid, vaid nad pääseksid ainult ise ja maa jääks lagedaks.

¹⁷Or [if] I bring the sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land, so that I cut off man and beast from it,

¹⁷Või kui ma lasen mõõga tulla üle selle maa ja ütlen: 'Mõõk, käi maa läbi!' ning hävitan sealt inimesed ja loomad,

¹⁸and these three men should be in it, [as] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, they should deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only themselves should be delivered.

¹⁸ja need kolm meest oleksid selle keskel, siis nii tõesti kui ma elan, ütleb Issand Jumal, ei päästaks nad oma poegi ega tütreid, vaid nemad üksi pääseksid.

¹⁹Or [if] I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast,

¹⁹Või kui ma läkitan sellele maale katku ja valan oma viha selle peale verena, et hävitada sealt inimesi ja loomi,

²⁰and Noah, Daniel, and Job should be in it, [as] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, they should deliver neither son nor daughter: they should [but] deliver their own souls by their righteousness.

²⁰ja Noa, Taaniel ja Iiob oleksid selle keskel, nii tõesti kui ma elan, ütleb Issand Jumal, ei päästaks nad oma poega ega tütart, nad päästaksid omaenese hinged oma õiguse tõttu.

²¹For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the evil beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast!

²¹Sest nõnda ütleb Issand Jumal: Jah, kui ma läkitan oma neli kurja nuhtlust: mõõga, nälja, kurjad metsloomad ja katku Jeruusalemma kallale, et sealt hävitada inimesi ja loomi,

²²But behold, there shall be left in it those that escape, who shall be brought out of [it], sons and daughters. Behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings; and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, as to all that I have brought upon it.

²²vaata, siis jääb sinna järele pääsenuid, kes toovad sealt välja oma poegi ja tütreid; vaata, need tulevad välja teie juurde ja te näete nende viise ja tegusid, ja te võite endid trööstida õnnetuse pärast, mis ma Jeruusalemmale olen toonud, kõige pärast, mis ma talle olen toonud.

²³And they shall comfort you, when ye see their way and their doings; and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord Jehovah.

²³Ja nemad trööstivad teid, kui te näete nende viise ja tegusid; ja te saate tunda, et ma ei ole mitte asjata teinud kõike, mis ma seal olen teinud, ütleb Issand Jumal.'
