1And Abraham took another wife named Keturah.
1Und Abraham nahm wieder ein Weib, die hieß Ketura.
2And she bore him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.
2Die gebar ihm den Simran und den Jokschan, den Medan und den Midian, den Jischbak und den Schuach.
3And Jokshan begot Sheba and Dedan; and the sons of Dedan were the Asshurim, and the Letushim, and the Leummim.
3Jokschan aber zeugte den Scheba und den Dedan. Die Kinder aber von Dedan waren die Assuriter, Letusiter und Leumiter
4And the sons of Midian were Ephah, and Epher, and Enoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these were sons of Keturah.
4und die Kinder Midians waren Epha, Epher, Hanoch, Abida und Eldaa. Diese alle sind Kinder der Ketura.
5And Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac.
5Und Abraham gab sein ganzes Gut dem Isaak.
6And to the sons of the concubines that Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and, while he yet lived, sent them away from Isaac his son, eastward to the east country.
6Aber den Kindern, die er von den Kebsweibern hatte, gab er Geschenke und schickte sie von seinem Sohne Isaak hinweg gegen Aufgang in das Morgenland, während er noch lebte.
7And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived: a hundred and seventy-five years.
7Dies ist aber die Zahl der Lebensjahre Abrahams: hundertfünfundsiebzig Jahre.
8And Abraham expired and died in a good old age, old and full [of days]; and was gathered to his peoples.
8Und Abraham nahm ab und starb in gutem Alter, da er alt und lebenssatt war, und ward zu seinem Volk gesammelt.
9And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which was opposite to Mamre --
9Und seine Söhne Isaak und Ismael begruben ihn in der Höhle Machpelah auf dem Acker des Ephron, des Sohnes Zoars, des Hetiters, Mamre gegenüber,
10the field that Abraham had purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.
10im Acker, welchen Abraham von den Hetitern gekauft hat. Daselbst sind Abraham und sein Weib Sarah begraben.
11And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac. And Isaac dwelt at Beer-lahai-roi.
11Und nach dem Tode Abrahams segnete Gott seinen Sohn Isaak. Und Isaak wohnte bei dem «Brunnen des Lebendigen, der mich sieht».
12And these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's bondwoman, bore to Abraham.
12Dies ist das Geschlecht Ismaels, des Sohnes Abrahams, den ihm Hagar, der Sarah ägyptische Magd, gebar.
13And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael by their names according to their generations: Nebaioth, the firstborn of Ishmael; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,
13Und dieses sind die Namen der Kinder Ismaels, davon ihre Geschlechter genannt sind: Der erstgeborne Sohn Ismaels, Nebajoth, dann Kedar, Abdeel, Mibsam,
14and Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,
14Misma, Duma, Massa,
15Hadad and Tema, Jetur, Naphish and Kedmah.
15Hadad, Tema, Jethur, Naphis und Kedma.
16These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, in their hamlets and their encampments -- twelve princes of their peoples.
16Das sind die Kinder Ismaels mit ihren Namen, in ihren Höfen und Zeltlagern, zwölf Fürsten in ihren Geschlechtern.
17And these are the years of the life of Ishmael: a hundred and thirty-seven years; and he expired and died, and was gathered to his peoples.
17Und Ismael ward hundertsiebenunddreißig Jahre alt, und er nahm ab und starb und ward zu seinem Volk gesammelt.
18And they dwelt from Havilah to Shur, which is opposite to Egypt, as one goes towards Assyria. He settled before the face of all his brethren.
18Sie wohnten aber von Chavila an bis gen Schur, das vor Ägypten liegt; und bis man nach Assyrien kommt; gegenüber von allen seinen Brüdern ließ er sich nieder.
19And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son. Abraham begot Isaac.
19Dies ist die Geschichte Isaaks, des Sohnes Abrahams. Abraham zeugte Isaak.
20And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebecca as wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan-Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian.
20Isaak aber war vierzig Jahre alt, da er die Tochter Bethuels, des Syrers von Mesopotamien, die Schwester des Syrers Laban, zum Weibe nahm.
21And Isaac entreated Jehovah for his wife, because she was barren; and Jehovah was entreated of him, and Rebecca his wife conceived.
21Isaak aber bat den HERRN für sein Weib, denn sie war unfruchtbar; und der HERR ließ sich von ihm erbitten, und sein Weib Rebekka ward guter Hoffnung.
22And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If [it be] so, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of Jehovah.
22Und die Kinder stießen sich in ihrem Schoß. Da sprach sie: Wenn es so gehen soll, warum bin ich denn in diesen Zustand gekommen? Und sie ging hin, den HERRN zu fragen.
23And Jehovah said to her, Two nations are in thy womb, And two peoples shall be separated from thy bowels; And one people shall be stronger than the other people, And the elder shall serve the younger.
23Und der HERR sprach zu ihr: Zwei Völker sind in deinem Schoß, und zwei Stämme werden sich aus deinen Eingeweiden scheiden, und ein Volk wird dem andern überlegen sein, und der Ältere wird dem Jüngeren dienen.
24And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.
24Da nun die Zeit kam, daß sie gebären sollte, siehe, da waren Zwillinge in ihrem Leibe.
25And the first came out red -- all over like a hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.
25Der erste, der herauskam, war rothaarig, ganz wie ein härenes Kleid, und sie nannte ihn Esau.
26And after that came his brother out; and his hand took hold of Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob. And Isaac was sixty years old when they were born.
26Darnach kam sein Bruder heraus, und seine Hand hielt die Ferse Esaus; da nannte sie ihn Jakob. Und Isaak war sechzig Jahre alt, da sie geboren wurden.
27And the boys grew, and Esau became a man skilled in hunting, a man of the field; and Jacob was a homely man, dwelling in tents.
27Und als die Knaben groß wurden, ward Esau ein Waidmann, der sich auf die Jagd verstand; Jakob aber war ein sittsamer Mann, der bei den Zelten blieb.
28And Isaac loved Esau, because venison was to his taste; and Rebecca loved Jacob.
28Und Isaak hatte Esau lieb, weil ihm das Wildbret mundete; Rebekka aber hatte Jakob lieb.
29And Jacob had cooked a dish; and Esau came from the field, and he was faint.
29Und Jakob kochte ein Gericht. Da kam Esau vom Feld und war müde.
30And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with the red -- the red thing there, for I am faint. Therefore was his name called Edom.
30Und Esau sprach zu Jakob: Laß mich das rote Gericht versuchen, denn ich bin müde! Daher heißt er Edom.
31And Jacob said, Sell me now thy birthright.
31Aber Jakob sprach: Verkaufe mir heute deine Erstgeburt!
32And Esau said, Behold, I am going to die, and of what use can the birthright be to me?
32Und Esau sprach zu Jakob: Siehe, ich muß doch sterben; was soll mir die Erstgeburt?
33And Jacob said, Swear unto me now. And he swore unto him, and sold his birthright to Jacob.
33Jakob sprach: So schwöre mir heute! Und er schwur ihm und verkaufte also dem Jakob seine Erstgeburt.
34And Jacob gave Esau bread and the dish of lentils; and he ate and drank, and rose up and went away. Thus Esau despised the birthright.
34Da gab Jakob dem Esau Brot und das Linsengericht. Und er aß und trank und stand auf und ging davon. Also verachtete Esau die Erstgeburt.
