¹And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she rose up and destroyed all the royal seed.

¹[] Γοθολια δε, η μητηρ του Οχοζιου, ιδουσα οτι απεθανεν ο υιος αυτης, εσηκωθη και ηφανισε παν το βασιλικον σπερμα.

²But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, the sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah and stole him from among the king's sons that were slain, [and hid] him and his nurse in the bedchamber; and they hid him from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.

²Ιωσαβεε ομως, η θυγατηρ του βασιλεως Ιωραμ, αδελφη του Οχοζιου, λαβουσα τον Ιωας υιον του Οχοζιου, εκλεψεν αυτον εκ μεσου των υιων του βασιλεως των θανατουμενων, αυτον και την τροφον αυτου, και εβαλεν εν τω ταμειω του κοιτωνος, και εκρυψαν αυτον απο προσωπου της Γοθολιας, και δεν εθανατωθη.

³And he was with her hid in the house of Jehovah six years. And Athaliah reigned over the land.

³Και ητο μετ' αυτης εν τω οικω του Κυριου κρυπτομενος εξ ετη. Η δε Γοθολια εβασιλευεν επι της γης.

⁴And in the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the captains of the hundreds, of the bodyguard and the couriers, and brought them to him into the house of Jehovah, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of Jehovah, and shewed them the king's son.

⁴[] Εν δε τω εβδομω ετει ο Ιωδαε απεστειλε και λαβων τους εκατονταρχους μετα των ταξιαρχων και των δορυφορων, εφερεν αυτους προς εαυτον εις τον οικον του Κυριου, και εκαμε συνθηκην μετ' αυτων και ωρκισεν αυτους εν τω οικω του Κυριου· και εδειξεν εις αυτους τον υιον του βασιλεως.

⁵And he commanded them saying, This is the thing which ye shall do: a third part of you, that come in on the sabbath, shall be keepers of the watch of the king's house;

⁵Και προσεταξεν εις αυτους, λεγων, Τουτο ειναι το πραγμα το οποιον θελετε καμει το τριτον απο σας, οι εισερχομενοι το σαββατον, θελετε φυλαττει την φυλακην του βασιλικου οικου·

⁶and a third part shall be at the gate of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the couriers; and ye shall keep the watch of the house for a defence.

⁶και το τριτον θελει εισθαι εν τη πυλη Σουρ· και το τριτον εν τη πυλη τη οπισθεν των δορυφορων· ουτω θελετε φυλαττει την φυλακην του οικου, δια να μη παραβιασθη·

⁷And the two parts of you, all those that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of Jehovah about the king.

⁷και δυο ταγματα απο σας, παντες οι εξερχομενοι το σαββατον, θελουσι φυλαττει την φυλακην του οικου του Κυριου περι τον βασιλεα.

⁸And ye shall encompass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand; and he that comes within the ranks shall be put to death; and ye shall be with the king when he goes out and when he comes in.

⁸και θελετε περικυκλονει τον βασιλεα κυκλω, εκαστος εχων τα οπλα αυτου εν τη χειρι αυτου· και οστις εισελθη εις τας ταξεις, ας θανατονεται· και θελετε εισθαι μετα του βασιλεως, οταν εξερχηται και οταν εισερχηται.

⁹And the captains of the hundreds did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded; and they took every man his men, those that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that were to go forth on the sabbath, and they came to Jehoiada the priest.

⁹Και εκαμον οι εκατονταρχοι κατα παντα οσα προσεταξεν Ιωδαε ο ιερευς· και ελαβον εκαστος τους ανδρας αυτου, τους εισερχομενους το σαββατον, μετα των εξερχομενων το σαββατον, και ηλθον προς Ιωδαε τον ιερεα.

¹⁰And the priest gave to the captains of the hundreds king David's spears and shields which were in the house of Jehovah.

¹⁰Και εδωκεν ο ιερευς εις τους εκατονταρχους τας λογχας και τας ασπιδας του βασιλεως Δαβιδ, τας εν τω οικω Κυριου.

¹¹And the couriers stood by the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left side of the house, toward the altar and the house.

¹¹Και οι δορυφοροι, εχοντες εκαστος τα οπλα αυτου εν τη χειρι αυτου, παρεσταθησαν περιξ του βασιλεως, απο της δεξιας πλευρας του οικου εως της αριστερας, πλησιον του θυσιαστηριου και του ναου.

¹²And he brought forth the king's son, and put the crown upon him, and [gave him] the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, Long live the king!

¹²Τοτε εξηγαγε τον υιον του βασιλεως και επεθεσεν επ' αυτον το διαδημα και το μαρτυριον· και εκαμον αυτον βασιλεα και εχρισαν αυτον· και κροτησαντες τας χειρας, ειπον, Ζητω ο βασιλευς

¹³And Athaliah heard the noise of the couriers [and] of the people; and she came to the people into the house of Jehovah.

¹³[] Και ακουσασα η Γοθολια την φωνην του λαου συντρεχοντος, ηλθε προς τον λαον εις τον οικον του Κυριου.

¹⁴And she looked, and behold, the king stood on the dais, according to the custom, and the princes and the trumpeters were by the king; and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets. And Athaliah rent her garments and cried, Conspiracy! Conspiracy!

¹⁴Και ειδε, και ιδου, ο βασιλευς ιστατο πλησιον του στυλου κατα το εθος, και οι αρχοντες και οι σαλπιγκται πλησιον του βασιλεως· και πας ο λαος της γης εχαιρε και εσαλπιζε με σαλπιγγας. Και διερρηξεν η Γοθολια τα ιματια αυτης και εβοησε, Προδοσια, προδοσια

¹⁵And Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds that were set over the host, and said to them, Lead her forth without the ranks; and whosoever follows her, slay with the sword; for the priest said, Let her not be put to death in the house of Jehovah.

¹⁵Και προσεταξεν Ιωδαε ο ιερευς τους εκατονταρχους, τους αρχηγους του στρατευματος, και ειπε προς αυτους, Εκβαλετε αυτην εξω των ταξεων· και οστις ακολουθηση αυτην, θανατωσατε αυτον εν ρομφαια. Διοτι ο ιερευς ειχεν ειπει, Ας μη θανατωθη εντος του οικου του Κυριου.

¹⁶And they made way for her, and she went by the way by which the horses entered the king's house, and there was she put to death.

¹⁶Ουτως εβαλον χειρας επ' αυτην· και οτε ηλθεν εις την οδον, δια της οποιας οι ιπποι ερχονται εις τον οικον του βασιλεως, εθανατωθη εκει.

¹⁷And Jehoiada made a covenant between Jehovah and the king and the people, that they should be the people of Jehovah; and between the king and the people.

¹⁷[] Και εκαμεν ο Ιωδαε διαθηκην αναμεσον του Κυριου και του βασιλεως και του λαου, οτι θελουσιν εισθαι λαος του Κυριου· και αναμεσον του βασιλεως και του λαου.

¹⁸Then all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and broke it down: his altars and his images they broke in pieces completely, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of Jehovah.

¹⁸Και εισηλθον πας ο λαος της γης εις τον οικον του Βααλ και εκρημνισαν αυτον· τα θυσιαστηρια αυτου και τα ειδωλα αυτου κατεσυντριψαν ολοτελως και Ματθαν τον ιερεα του Βααλ εθανατωσαν εμπροσθεν των θυσιαστηριων. Και ο ιερευς κατεστησεν επιτηρητας επι τον οικον του Κυριου.

¹⁹And he took the captains of the hundreds, and the bodyguard, and the couriers, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from the house of Jehovah, and came by the way through the gate of the couriers into the king's house. And he sat upon the throne of the kings.

¹⁹Και ελαβε τους εκατονταρχους και τους ταξιαρχους και τους δορυφορους και παντα τον λαον της γης· και κατεβιβασαν τον βασιλεα εκ του οικου του Κυριου, και ηλθον εις τον οικον του βασιλεως δια της οδου της πυλης των δορυφορων. Και εκαθισεν επι του θρονου των βασιλεων.

²⁰And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet; and they had slain Athaliah with the sword [beside] the king's house.

²⁰Και ευφρανθη πας ο λαος της γης και η πολις ησυχασε· την δε Γοθολιαν εθανατωσαν εν μαχαιρα εν τω οικω του βασιλεως.

²¹Jehoash was seven years old when he began to reign.

²¹Επτα ετων ητο ο Ιωας οτε εβασιλευσε.
