1And the men of Ephraim were called together, and passed over northwards, and said to Jephthah, Why didst thou pass over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? We will burn thy house upon thee with fire.
1[] Και συνηχθησαν οι ανδρες Εφραιμ, και επερασαν προς βορραν και ειπαν προς τον Ιεφθαε, Δια τι επερασας να πολεμησης εναντιον των υιων Αμμων, και δεν εκαλεσας ημας να ελθωμεν μετα σου; τον οικον σου θελομεν καυσει επανω σου εν πυρι.
2And Jephthah said to them, I was at great strife, I and my people, with the children of Ammon; and I called you, but ye saved me not out of their hand.
2Και ειπεν ο Ιεφθαε προς αυτους, Εγω και ο λαος μου ηλθομεν εις μεγαλην φιλονεικιαν μετα των υιων Αμμων· και σας εκραξα και δεν με εσωσατε εκ της χειρος αυτων·
3And when I saw that ye would not save me, I put my life in my hand, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and Jehovah gave them into my hand. Why then are ye come up to me this day, to fight against me?
3και ιδων οτι δεν με εσωσατε, ερριψοκινδυνευσα την ζωην μου και επερασα εναντιον των υιων Αμμων, και ο Κυριος παρεδωκεν αυτους εις την χειρα μου· δια τι λοιπον ανεβητε προς εμε σημερον δια να με πολεμησητε;
4And Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim; and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye, Gilead, ye are fugitives of Ephraim in the midst of Ephraim, [and] in the midst of Manasseh.
4Τοτε συνηθροισεν ο Ιεφθαε παντας τους ανδρας της Γαλααδ και επολεμησε τον Εφραιμ· και επαταξαν οι ανδρες της Γαλααδ τους Εφραιμιτας, διοτι ειπαν, Φυγαδες του Εφραιμ εισθε σεις οι Γαλααδιται, μεταξυ του Εφραιμ και μεταξυ του Μανασση.
5And Gilead took the fords of the Jordan before Ephraim; and it came to pass that when the fugitives of Ephraim said, Let me go over, the men of Gilead said to him, Art thou an Ephraimite? and he said, No.
5Και επιασαν αι Γαλααδιται διαβασεις του Ιορδανου προ των Εφραιμιτων· και οποτε τις εκ των Εφραιμιτων φυγαδων ελεγε, Θελω να περασω, τοτε οι ανδρες της Γαλααδ ελεγον προς αυτον, Μηπως εισαι Εφραιμιτης; Εαν εκεινος ελεγεν, Ουχι,
6Then they said to him, Say now Shibboleth! and he said, Sibboleth, and did not manage to pronounce [it] rightly. Then they took him, and slaughtered him at the fords of the Jordan. And there fell at that time of Ephraim forty-two thousand.
6τοτε ελεγον προς αυτον, Ειπε λοιπον Σχιββωλεθ· και εκεινος ελεγε Σιββωλεθ· διοτι δεν ηδυνατο να προφερη ουτω. Τοτε επιανον αυτον και εφονευον αυτον εις τας διαβασεις του Ιορδανου. Και επεσον κατ' εκεινον τον καιρον τεσσαρακοντα δυο χιλιαδες Εφραιμιται.
7And Jephthah judged Israel six years. And Jephthah the Gileadite died, and was buried in [one of] the cities of Gilead.
7Και εκρινεν ο Ιεφθαε τον Ισραηλ εξ ετη. Και απεθανεν ο Ιεφθαε ο Γαλααδιτης και εταφη εν πολει τινι της Γαλααδ.
8And after him Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel.
8[] Και μετ' αυτον εκρινε τον Ισραηλ Αβαισαν ο εκ Βηθλεεμ.
9And he had thirty sons; and thirty daughters he sent out of the house, and thirty daughters he took in from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.
9Και ειχε τριακοντα υιους και τριακοντα θυγατερας, τας οποιας υπανδρευσεν· ελαβε δε εξωθεν τριακοντα νεας δια τους υιους αυτου. Και εκρινε τον Ισραηλ επτα ετη.
10And Ibzan died, and was buried at Bethlehem.
10Και απεθανεν ο Αβαισαν και εταφη εν Βηθλεεμ.
11And after him Elon, the Zebulonite, judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years.
11Και μετ' αυτον εκρινε τον Ισραηλ Αιλων ο Ζαβουλωνιτης· και εκρινε τον Ισραηλ δεκα ετη.
12And Elon the Zebulonite died, and was buried in Ajalon in the land of Zebulun.
12Και απεθανεν Αιλων ο Ζαβουλωνιτης και εταφη εις Αιαλων εν τη γη Ζαβουλων.
13And after him Abdon the son of Hillel, the Pirathonite, judged Israel.
13Και μετ' αυτον εκρινε τον Ισραηλ Αβδων, ο υιος του Ελληλ, ο Πιραθωνιτης.
14And he had forty sons and thirty grandsons, who rode on seventy ass colts. And he judged Israel eight years.
14Και ειχε τεσσαρακοντα υιους και τριακοντα εγγονους, επιβαινοντας επι εβδομηκοντα πωλαρια· και εκρινε τον Ισραηλ οκτω ετη.
15And Abdon the son of Hillel, the Pirathonite, died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the hill-country of the Amalekites.
15Και απεθανεν Αβδων ο υιος του Ελληλ ο Πιραθωνιτης· και εταφη εν Πιραθων εν γη Εφραιμ, επι το ορος Αμαληκ.
