1Exult, ye righteous, in Jehovah: praise is comely for the upright.
1רננו צדיקים ביהוה לישרים נאוה תהלה׃
2Give thanks unto Jehovah with the harp; sing psalms unto him with the ten-stringed lute.
2הודו ליהוה בכנור בנבל עשור זמרו לו׃
3Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud sound.
3שירו לו שיר חדש היטיבו נגן בתרועה׃
4For the word of Jehovah is right, and all his work is in faithfulness.
4כי ישר דבר יהוה וכל מעשהו באמונה׃
5He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the loving-kindness of Jehovah.
5אהב צדקה ומשפט חסד יהוה מלאה הארץ׃
6By the word of Jehovah were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
6בדבר יהוה שמים נעשו וברוח פיו כל צבאם׃
7He gathereth the waters of the sea together as a heap; he layeth up the deeps in storehouses.
7כנס כנד מי הים נתן באצרות תהומות׃
8Let all the earth fear Jehovah; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
8ייראו מיהוה כל הארץ ממנו יגורו כל ישבי תבל׃
9For *he* spoke, and it was [done]; *he* commanded, and it stood fast.
9כי הוא אמר ויהי הוא צוה ויעמד׃
10Jehovah frustrateth the counsel of the nations; he maketh the thoughts of the peoples of none effect.
10יהוה הפיר עצת גוים הניא מחשבות עמים׃
11The counsel of Jehovah standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart from generation to generation.
11עצת יהוה לעולם תעמד מחשבות לבו לדר ודר׃
12Blessed is the nation whose God is Jehovah, the people that he hath chosen for his inheritance!
12אשרי הגוי אשר יהוה אלהיו העם בחר לנחלה לו׃
13Jehovah looketh from the heavens; he beholdeth all the sons of men:
13משמים הביט יהוה ראה את כל בני האדם׃
14From the place of his habitation he looketh forth upon all the inhabitants of the earth;
14ממכון שבתו השגיח אל כל ישבי הארץ׃
15He who fashioneth the hearts of them all, who considereth all their works.
15היצר יחד לבם המבין אל כל מעשיהם׃
16The king is not saved by the multitude of [his] forces; a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
16אין המלך נושע ברב חיל גבור לא ינצל ברב כח׃
17The horse is a vain thing for safety; neither doth he deliver by his great power.
17שקר הסוס לתשועה וברב חילו לא ימלט׃
18Behold, the eye of Jehovah is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his loving-kindness,
18הנה עין יהוה אל יראיו למיחלים לחסדו׃
19To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
19להציל ממות נפשם ולחיותם ברעב׃
20Our soul waiteth for Jehovah: he is our help and our shield.
20נפשנו חכתה ליהוה עזרנו ומגננו הוא׃
21For in him shall our heart rejoice, because we have confided in his holy name.
21כי בו ישמח לבנו כי בשם קדשו בטחנו׃
22Let thy loving-kindness, O Jehovah, be upon us, according as we have hoped in thee.
22יהי חסדך יהוה עלינו כאשר יחלנו לך׃
