1The burden of Tyre. Howl, ye ships of Tarshish! for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, none entering in. From the land of Chittim it is revealed to them.
1Inilah pesan tentang Tirus. Hai pelaut-pelaut Spanyol yang mengarungi samudra, merataplah! Waktu berlayar pulang dari Siprus, kamu diberitahukan bahwa kota Tirus sudah hancur. Pangkalan dan rumah-rumahmu sudah menjadi reruntuhan.
2Be still, ye inhabitants of the isle! The merchants of Sidon, that pass over the sea, have replenished thee.
2Mengaduhlah, hai penduduk pesisir, saudagar-saudagar Sidon! Sebab biasanya kamu mengirim orang-orang ke seberang laut untuk berjual beli gandum Mesir dan untuk berdagang dengan semua bangsa.
3And on great waters, the seed of Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, was her revenue; and she was the market of the nations.

4Be thou ashamed, Sidon, for the sea hath spoken, the strength of the sea, saying, I have not travailed nor brought forth, neither have I nourished young men [nor] brought up virgins.
4Hai kota Sidon, kehormatanmu sudah hilang! Samudra yang dalam tidak mengakui engkau lagi, katanya, "Aku belum pernah beranak, belum pernah membesarkan anak laki-laki atau perempuan."
5-- When the report came into Egypt, they were sorely pained at the news of Tyre.
5Bahkan orang Mesir pun akan terkejut dan gempar bila mendengar bahwa Tirus sudah dibinasakan.
6Pass over to Tarshish; howl, ye inhabitants of the coast!
6Merataplah, dan mengungsilah ke Spanyol, hai penduduk pesisir!
7Is this your joyous [city], whose antiquity is of ancient days? Her feet shall carry her afar off to sojourn.
7Lihatlah kotamu Tirus yang sudah ada dari zaman dahulu. Inikah kota yang biasanya bersenang-senang? Inikah kota yang mengirim orang-orang ke seberang laut untuk merantau ke sana?
8Who hath purposed this against Tyre, the distributor of crowns, whose merchants were princes, whose dealers were the honourable of the earth?
8Bukankah saudagar-saudagarnya kaum bangsawan yang paling dihormati di bumi? Siapakah yang mengambil keputusan untuk menjatuhkan Tirus, kota yang paling berkuasa ini?
9Jehovah of hosts hath purposed it, to profane the pride of all glory, to bring to nought all the honourable of the earth.
9TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa, Dialah yang mengambil keputusan itu. Ia memutuskan untuk mengakhiri kesombongan penduduknya atas segala hasil yang telah mereka capai, dan merendahkan orang-orang yang terhormat di bumi.
10Overflow thy land like the Nile, daughter of Tarshish: there is no more restraint.
10Pergilah mengerjakan ladangmu, hai penduduk Spanyol, sebab galangan kapal sudah tak ada lagi.
11He hath stretched out his hand over the sea, he shaketh the kingdoms. Jehovah hath given a commandment concerning Canaan, to destroy the strongholds thereof,
11TUHAN telah merentangkan tangan-Nya di atas laut dan menggulingkan kerajaan-kerajaan. Ia memberi perintah supaya benteng-benteng Funisia dimusnahkan.
12and hath said, Thou shalt no more exult, [thou] oppressed virgin, daughter of Sidon: get thee up, pass over to Chittim; even there shalt thou have no rest.
12Kata TUHAN, "Hai kota Sidon! Engkau tak akan bersenang-senang lagi. Pendudukmu tertindas. Sekalipun mereka mengungsi ke Siprus, mereka tidak aman."
13Behold the land of the Chaldeans: this people did not exist; the Assyrian founded it for the dwellers in the desert: they set up their towers, they destroyed the palaces thereof; he brought it to ruin.
13(Bukan bangsa Asyur, melainkan bangsa Babel yang membiarkan kota Tirus dikuasai binatang buas. Mereka jugalah yang mendirikan menara-menara pengepungan, merobohkan benteng-bentengnya dan menjadikan kota itu reruntuhan.)
14Howl, ships of Tarshish! for your fortress is laid waste.
14Merataplah, hai pelaut-pelaut! Kota yang kamu andalkan sudah hancur.
15And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king. At the end of seventy years it shall be for Tyre as the harlot's song.
15Akan tiba waktunya Tirus dilupakan selama tujuh puluh tahun, sama dengan umur seorang raja. Bila sudah lewat masa itu, Tirus akan seperti wanita pelacur dalam nyanyian ini:
16Take a harp, go about the city, thou forgotten harlot! Make sweet melody, sing many songs, that thou mayest be remembered.
16Ambillah kecapi, kelilingilah kota, hai pelacur malang yang terlupa! Petiklah kecapi, bernyanyilah lagi, agar engkau diingat kembali.
17And it shall come to pass at the end of seventy years, that Jehovah will visit Tyre; and she will return to her hire, and will commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the earth upon the face of the ground.
17Sehabis tujuh puluh tahun itu, TUHAN akan mengingat Tirus dan memungkinkan dia melakukan pekerjaannya yang dahulu. Ia akan berdagang dengan semua kerajaan di atas bumi.
18And her merchandise and her hire shall be holy to Jehovah: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before Jehovah, to eat and be sufficed, and for excellent clothing.
18Laba dan upah yang diperolehnya tak akan disimpannya, tetapi akan dipersembahkannya kepada TUHAN. Orang-orang yang menyembah TUHAN akan memakai uang itu untuk membeli sandang pangan yang mereka perlukan.
