1I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.
1Akulah orang yang telah merasakan sengsara, karena tertimpa kemarahan Allah.
2Me hath he led, and brought into darkness, and not into light.
2Makin jauh aku diseret-Nya ke dalam tempat yang gelap gulita.
3Surely against me hath he turned again and again his hand all the day.
3Aku dipukuli berkali-kali, tanpa belas kasihan sepanjang hari.
4My flesh and my skin hath he wasted away, he hath broken my bones.
4Ia membuat badanku luka parah, dan tulang-tulangku patah.
5He hath built against me, and encompassed [me] with gall and toil.
5Ia meliputi aku dengan duka dan derita.
6He hath made me to dwell in dark places as those that have been long dead.
6Aku dipaksa-Nya tinggal dalam kegelapan seperti orang yang mati di zaman yang silam.
7He hath hedged me about that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.
7Dengan belenggu yang kuat diikat-Nya aku, sehingga tak ada jalan keluar bagiku.
8Even when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.
8Aku menjerit minta pertolongan, tapi Allah tak mau mendengarkan.
9He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.
9Ia mengalang-alangi jalanku dengan tembok-tembok batu.
10He is unto me [as] a bear lying in wait, a lion in secret places.
10Seperti beruang Ia menunggu, seperti singa Ia menghadang aku.
11He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces; he hath made me desolate.
11Dikejar-Nya aku sampai menyimpang dari jalan, lalu aku dicabik-cabik dan ditinggalkan.
12He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
12Ia merentangkan busur-Nya, dan menjadikan aku sasaran anak panah-Nya.
13He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
13Anak panah-Nya menembus tubuhku sampai menusuk jantungku.
14I am become a derision to all my people; their song all the day.
14Sepanjang hari aku ditertawakan semua orang, dan dijadikan bahan sindiran.
15He hath sated me with bitterness, he hath made me drunk with wormwood.
15Hanya kepahitan yang diberikan-Nya kepadaku untuk makanan dan minumanku.
16He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.
16Mukaku digosokkan-Nya pada tanah, gigiku dibenturkan-Nya pada batu sampai patah.
17And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I have forgotten prosperity.
17Telah lama aku tak merasa sejahtera; sudah lupa aku bagaimana perasaan bahagia.
18And I said, My strength is perished, and my hope in Jehovah.
18Aku tak lagi mempunyai kemasyhuran, lenyaplah harapanku pada TUHAN.
19Remember thou mine affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and the gall.
19Memikirkan pengembaraan dan kemalanganku bagaikan makan racun yang pahit.
20My soul hath [them] constantly in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
20Terus-menerus hal itu kupikirkan, sehingga batinku tertekan.
21-- This I recall to heart, therefore have I hope.
21Meskipun begitu harapanku bangkit kembali, ketika aku mengingat hal ini:
22It is of Jehovah's loving-kindness we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not;
22Kasih TUHAN kekal abadi, rahmat-Nya tak pernah habis,
23they are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
23selalu baru setiap pagi sungguh, TUHAN setia sekali!
24Jehovah is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
24TUHAN adalah hartaku satu-satunya. Karena itu, aku berharap kepada-Nya.
25Jehovah is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul [that] seeketh him.
25TUHAN baik kepada orang yang berharap kepada-Nya, dan kepada orang yang mencari Dia.
26It is good that one should both wait, and that in silence, for the salvation of Jehovah.
26Jadi, baiklah kita menunggu dengan tenang sampai TUHAN datang memberi pertolongan;
27It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth:
27baiklah kita belajar menjadi tabah pada waktu masih muda.
28He sitteth solitary and keepeth silence, because he hath laid it upon him;
28Pada waktu TUHAN memberi penderitaan, hendaklah kita duduk sendirian dengan diam.
29he putteth his mouth in the dust, if so be there may be hope;
29Biarlah kita merendahkan diri dan menyerah, karena mungkin harapan masih ada.
30he giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him; he is filled full with reproach.
30Sekalipun ditampar dan dinista, hendaklah semuanya itu kita terima.
31For the Lord will not cast off for ever;
31Sebab, TUHAN tidak akan menolak kita untuk selama-lamanya.
32but if he have caused grief, he will have compassion according to the multitude of his loving-kindnesses:
32Setelah Ia memberikan penderitaan Ia pun berbelaskasihan, karena Ia tetap mengasihi kita dengan kasih yang tak ada batasnya.
33for he doth not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men.
33Ia tidak dengan rela hati membiarkan kita menderita dan sedih.
34To crush under foot all the prisoners of the earth,
34Kalau jiwa kita tertekan di dalam tahanan,
35to turn aside the right of a man before the face of the Most High,
35kalau kita kehilangan hak yang diberikan TUHAN,
36to wrong a man in his cause, -- will not the Lord see it?
36karena keadilan diputarbalikkan, pastilah TUHAN mengetahuinya dan memperhatikan.
37Who is he that saith, and there cometh to pass, what the Lord hath not commanded?
37Jika TUHAN tidak menghendaki sesuatu, pasti manusia tidak dapat berbuat apa-apa untuk itu.
38Out of the mouth of the Most High doth not there proceed evil and good?
38Baik dan jahat dijalankan hanya atas perintah TUHAN.
39Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
39Mengapa orang harus berkeluh-kesah jika ia dihukum karena dosa-dosanya?
40Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to Jehovah.
40Baiklah kita menyelidiki hidup kita, dan kembali kepada TUHAN Allah di surga. Marilah kita membuka hati dan berdoa,
41Let us lift up our heart with [our] hands unto ùGod in the heavens.
41(3:40)
42We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.
42"Kami berdosa dan memberontak kepada-Mu, ya TUHAN, dan Engkau tak memberi pengampunan.
43Thou hast covered thyself with anger, and pursued us; thou hast slain, thou hast not spared.
43Kami Kaukejar dan Kaubunuh, belas kasihan-Mu tersembunyi dalam amarah-Mu.
44Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that prayer should not pass through.
44Murka-Mu seperti awan yang tebal sekali sehingga tak dapat ditembus oleh doa-doa kami.
45Thou hast made us the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the peoples.
45Kami telah Kaujadikan seperti sampah di mata seluruh dunia.
46All our enemies have opened their mouth against us.
46Kami dihina semua musuh kami dan ditertawakan;
47Fear and the pit are come upon us, devastation and ruin.
47kami ditimpa kecelakaan dan kehancuran, serta hidup dalam bahaya dan ketakutan.
48Mine eye runneth down with streams of water for the ruin of the daughter of my people.
48Air mataku mengalir seperti sungai karena bangsaku telah hancur.
49Mine eye poureth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,
49Aku akan menangis tanpa berhenti,
50till Jehovah look down and behold from the heavens.
50sampai Engkau, ya TUHAN di surga, memperhatikan kami.
51Mine eye affecteth my soul, because of all the daughters of my city.
51Hatiku menjadi sedih melihat nasib wanita-wanita di kota kami.
52They that are mine enemies without cause have chased me sore like a bird.
52Seperti burung, aku dikejar musuh yang tanpa alasan membenci aku.
53They have cut off my life in a pit, and cast a stone upon me.
53Ke dalam sumur yang kering mereka membuang aku hidup-hidup lalu menimbuni aku dengan batu.
54Waters streamed over my head; I said, I am cut off.
54Air naik sampai ke kepalaku, dan aku berpikir, --'Habislah riwayatku!'
55I called upon thy name, Jehovah, out of the lowest pit.
55Ya TUHAN, aku berseru kepada-Mu, dari dasar sumur yang dalam itu.
56Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my sighing, at my cry.
56Aku mohon dengan sangat janganlah menutupi telinga-Mu terhadap permintaanku agar Kau menolong aku. Maka doaku Kaudengar, dan Kaudatang mendekat; Kau berkata, 'Jangan gentar.'
57Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee; thou saidst, Fear not.
57(3:56)
58Lord, thou hast pleaded the cause of my soul, thou hast redeemed my life.
58Kaudatang memperjuangkan perkaraku, ya TUHAN, nyawaku telah Kauselamatkan.
59Jehovah, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.
59Engkau melihat kejahatan yang dilakukan terhadapku, rencana jahat musuh yang membenci aku. Karena itu, ya TUHAN, belalah perkaraku.
60Thou hast seen all their vengeance, all their imaginations against me.
60(3:59)
61Thou hast heard their reproach, O Jehovah, all their imaginations against me;
61Engkau, TUHAN, mendengar aku dihina; Engkau tahu semua rencana mereka.
62the lips of those that rise up against me and their meditation against me all the day.
62Mereka membicarakan aku sepanjang hari. Untuk mencelakakan aku, mereka membuat rencana keji.
63Behold thou their sitting down and their rising up: I am their song.
63Dari pagi sampai malam, aku dijadikan bahan tertawaan.
64Render unto them a recompence, O Jehovah, according to the work of their hands;
64Hukumlah mereka setimpal perbuatan mereka, ya TUHAN.
65give them obduracy of heart, thy curse unto them;
65Kutukilah mereka, dan biarlah mereka tinggal dalam keputusasaan.
66pursue them in anger, and destroy them from under the heavens of Jehovah.
66Kejarlah dan binasakanlah mereka semua sampai mereka tersapu habis dari dunia."
