1Untuk pemimpin kor. Dengan iringan kecapi. Nyanyian pengajaran Daud, (54-2) ketika orang Zifi datang mengatakan kepada Saul, "Daud bersembunyi pada kami." (54-3) Ya Allah, selamatkanlah aku karena kuasa-Mu, berilah keadilan kepadaku karena kekuatan-Mu.
2O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth.
2(54-4) Dengarlah permohonanku, ya Allah, sudilah memperhatikan kata-kataku.
3For strangers are risen up against me, and the violent seek after my life: they have not set God before them. Selah.
3(54-5) Sebab orang asing bangkit menyerang aku, orang angkuh ingin membunuh aku, mereka tidak peduli akan Allah.
4Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is among them that uphold my soul.
4(54-6) Tetapi Allah adalah penolongku; TUHAN adalah pembelaku.
5He will requite evil to mine enemies: in thy truth cut them off.
5(54-7) Ia akan menghukum musuhku dengan kejahatan mereka sendiri, dan membinasakan mereka sebab Ia setia kepadaku.
6I will freely sacrifice unto thee; I will praise thy name, O Jehovah, because it is good.
6(54-8) Dengan rela hati kupersembahkan kurban bagi-Mu, dan bersyukur kepada-Mu karena Engkau baik, ya TUHAN.
7For he hath delivered me out of all trouble; and mine eye hath seen [its desire] upon mine enemies.
7(54-9) Engkau telah melepaskan aku dari segala kesukaran, dan kulihat musuhku dikalahkan.
