¹And in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat began Abijam to reign over Judah.

¹ネバテの子ヤラベアム王の第十八年にアビヤムがユダの王となり、

²He reigned three years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Maachah, a daughter of Abishalom.

²エルサレムで三年世を治めた。その母の名はマアカといって、アブサロムの娘であった。

³And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him; and his heart was not perfect with Jehovah his God, as the heart of David his father.

³彼はその父が先に行ったもろもろの罪をおこない、その心は父ダビデの心のようにその神、主に対して全く真実ではなかった。

⁴But for David's sake Jehovah his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, setting up his son after him, and establishing Jerusalem;

⁴それにもかかわらず、その神、主はダビデのために、エルサレムにおいて彼に一つのともしびを与え、その子を彼のあとに立てて、エルサレムを固められた。

⁵because David did that which was right in the sight of Jehovah, and turned not aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, except in the matter of Urijah the Hittite.

⁵それはダビデがヘテびとウリヤの事のほか、一生の間、主の目にかなう事を行い、主が命じられたすべての事に、そむかなかったからである。

⁶And there had been war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.

⁶レハベアムとヤラベアムの間には一生の間、戦争があった。

⁷And the rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.

⁷アビヤムのその他の行為と、彼がしたすべての事は、ユダの王の歴代志の書にしるされているではないか。アビヤムとヤラベアムの間にも戦争があった。

⁸And Abijam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David. And Asa his son reigned in his stead.

⁸アビヤムはその先祖と共に眠って、ダビデの町に葬られ、その子アサが代って王となった。

⁹And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa began to reign over Judah;

⁹イスラエルの王ヤラベアムの第二十年にアサはユダの王となり、

¹⁰and he reigned forty-one years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Maachah, daughter of Abishalom.

¹⁰エルサレムで四十一年世を治めた。その母の名はマアカといってアブサロムの娘であった。

¹¹And Asa did what was right in the sight of Jehovah, as David his father.

¹¹アサはその父ダビデがしたように主の目にかなう事をし、

¹²And he put away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his father had made.

¹²神殿男娼を国から追い出し、先祖たちの造ったもろもろの偶像を除いた。

¹³And also Maachah his mother he removed from being queen, because she had made an idol for the Asherah; and Asa cut down her idol, and burned it in the valley of Kidron.

¹³彼はまたその母マアカが、アシラのために憎むべき像を造らせたので、彼女を太后の位から退けた。そしてアサはその憎むべき像を切り倒してキデロンの谷で焼き捨てた。

¹⁴But the high places were not removed; only, Asa's heart was perfect with Jehovah all his days.

¹⁴ただし高き所は除かなかった。けれどもアサの心は一生の間、主に対して全く真実であった。

¹⁵And he brought into the house of Jehovah the things which his father had dedicated, and the things which he himself had dedicated, silver and gold and vessels.

¹⁵彼は父の献納した物と自分の献納した物、金銀および器物を主の宮に携え入れた。

¹⁶And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

¹⁶アサとイスラエルの王バアシャの間には一生の間、戦争があった。

¹⁷And Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah, and built Ramah, in order to let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

¹⁷イスラエルの王バアシャはユダに攻め上り、ユダの王アサの所に、だれをも出入りさせないためにラマを築いた。

¹⁸And Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and in the treasures of the king's house, and gave them into the hand of his servants; and king Asa sent them to Ben-Hadad, the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, who dwelt at Damascus, saying,

¹⁸そこでアサは主の宮の宝蔵と、王の宮殿の宝蔵に残っている金銀をことごとく取って、これを家来たちの手にわたし、そしてアサ王は彼らをダマスコに住んでいるスリヤの王、ヘジョンの子タブリモンの子であるベネハダデにつかわして言わせた、

¹⁹There is a league between me and thee, [as] between my father and thy father; behold, I send thee a present of silver and gold: go, break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.

¹⁹「わたしの父とあなたの父との間に結ばれていたように、わたしとあなたの間に同盟を結びましょう。わたしはあなたに金銀の贈り物をさしあげます。行って、あなたとイスラエルの王バアシャとの同盟を破棄し、彼をわたしの所から撤退させてください」。

²⁰And Ben-Hadad hearkened to king Asa, and sent the captains of his forces against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-Beth-Maachah, and all Kinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.

²⁰ベネハダデはアサ王の言うことを聞き、自分の軍勢の長たちをつかわしてイスラエルの町々を攻め、イヨンとダンとアベル・ベテ・マアカおよびキンネレテの全地と、ナフタリの全地を撃った。

²¹And it came to pass when Baasha heard of it, that he left off building Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.

²¹バアシャはこれを聞き、ラマを築くことをやめて、テルザにとどまった。

²²And king Asa called together all Judah: none was exempted; and they carried away the stones and the timber from Ramah, with which Baasha had been building; and king Asa built with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

²²そこでアサ王はユダ全国に布告を発した。ひとりも免れる者はなかった。すなわちバアシャがラマを築くために用いた石と材木を運びこさせ、アサ王はそれを用いて、ベニヤミンのゲバとミヅパを築いた。

²³And the rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? Only, in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

²³アサのその他の事績とそのすべての勲功と、彼がしたすべての事および彼が建てた町々は、ユダの王の歴代志の書にしるされているではないか。彼は老年になって足を病んだ。

²⁴And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father. And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead.

²⁴アサはその先祖と共に眠って、父ダビデの町に先祖と共に葬られ、その子ヨシャパテが代って王となった。

²⁵And Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah; and he reigned over Israel two years.

²⁵ユダの王アサの第二年にヤラベアムの子ナダブがイスラエルの王となって、二年イスラエルを治めた。

²⁶And he did evil in the sight of Jehovah, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin with which he made Israel sin.

²⁶彼は主の目の前に悪を行い、その父の道に歩み、父がイスラエルに犯させた罪をおこなった。

²⁷And Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasha smote him at Gibbethon, which [belonged] to the Philistines, when Nadab and all Israel were besieging Gibbethon.

²⁷イッサカルの家のアヒヤの子バアシャは彼に対してむほんを企て、ペリシテびとに属するギベトンで彼を撃った。これはナダブとイスラエルが皆ギベトンを囲んでいたからである。

²⁸And Baasha slew him in the third year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his stead.

²⁸こうしてユダの王アサの第三年にバアシャは彼を殺し、彼に代って王となった。

²⁹And it came to pass when he was king, he smote all the house of Jeroboam; he left to Jeroboam none that breathed; until he had destroyed him, according to the word of Jehovah which he spoke by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite,

²⁹彼は王となるとすぐヤラベアムの全家を撃ち、息のある者をひとりもヤラベアムの家に残さず、ことごとく滅ぼした。主がそのしもべシロびとアヒヤによって言われた言葉のとおりであって、

³⁰because of the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and wherewith he made Israel to sin; by his provocation with which he provoked Jehovah the God of Israel to anger.

³⁰これはヤラベアムがみずから犯し、またイスラエルに犯させた罪のため、また彼がイスラエルの神、主を怒らせたその怒りによるのであった。

³²And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

³³In the third year of Asa king of Judah began Baasha the son of Ahijah to reign over all Israel in Tirzah, for twenty-four years.

³³ユダの王アサの第三年にアヒヤの子バアシャはテルザでイスラエルの全地の王となって、二十四年世を治めた。彼は主の目の前に悪を行い、ヤラベアムの道に歩み、ヤラベアムがイスラエルに犯させた罪をおこなった。

³⁴And he did evil in the sight of Jehovah, and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin where with he made Israel to sin.
