¹And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and Jehovah his God was with him and magnified him exceedingly.

¹ダビデの子ソロモンはその国に自分の地位を確立した。その神、主が共にいまして彼を非常に大いなる者にされた。

²And Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to all the princes of all Israel, the chief fathers;

²ソロモンはすべてのイスラエルびと、すなわち千人の長、百人の長、さばきびとおよびイスラエルの全地のすべてのつかさ、氏族のかしらたちに告げた。

³and Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place at Gibeon; for there was God's tent of meeting which Moses the servant of Jehovah had made in the wilderness.

³そしてソロモンとイスラエルの全会衆はともにギベオンにある高き所へ行った。主のしもべモーセが荒野で造った神の会見の幕屋がそこにあったからである。

⁴But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjath-jearim to the [place] that David had prepared for it; for he had spread a tent for it at Jerusalem.

⁴（しかし神の箱はダビデがすでにキリアテ・ヤリムから、これのために備えた所に運び上らせてあった。ダビデはさきに、エルサレムでこれのために天幕を張って置いたからである。）

⁵And the brazen altar that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, was there before the tabernacle of Jehovah; and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.

⁵またホルの子であるウリの子ベザレルが造った青銅の祭壇がその所の主の幕屋の前にあり、ソロモンおよび会衆は主に求めた。

⁶And Solomon offered there upon the brazen altar before Jehovah which was at the tent of meeting; and he offered up a thousand burnt-offerings upon it.

⁶ソロモンはそこに上って行って、会見の幕屋のうちにある主の前の青銅の祭壇に燔祭一千をささげた。

⁷In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, Ask what I shall give thee.

⁷その夜、神はソロモンに現れて言われた、「あなたに何を与えようか、求めなさい」。

⁸And Solomon said to God, Thou hast shewn unto David my father great loving-kindness, and hast made me king in his stead.

⁸ソロモンは神に言った、「あなたはわたしの父ダビデに大いなるいつくしみを示し、またわたしを彼に代って王とされました。

⁹Now, Jehovah Elohim, let thy word unto David my father be firm; for thou hast made me king over a people numerous as the dust of the earth.

⁹主なる神よ、どうぞわが父ダビデに約束された事を果してください。あなたは地のちりのような多くの民の上にわたしを立てて王とされたからです。

¹⁰Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this thy great people?

¹⁰この民の前に出入りすることのできるように今わたしに知恵と知識とを与えてください。だれがこのような大いなるあなたの民をさばくことができましょうか」。

¹¹And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of them that hate thee, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked for thyself wisdom and knowledge, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

¹¹神はソロモンに言われた、「この事があなたの心にあって、富をも、宝をも、誉をも、またあなたを憎む者の命をも求めず、また長命をも求めず、ただわたしがあなたを立てて王としたわたしの民をさばくために知恵と知識とを自分のために求めたので、

¹²wisdom and knowledge are granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches and wealth and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall any after thee have the like.

¹²知恵と知識とはあなたに与えられている。わたしはまたあなたの前の王たちの、まだ得たことのないほどの富と宝と誉とをあなたに与えよう。あなたの後の者も、このようなものを得ないでしょう」。

¹³Then Solomon came back [from] the high place at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tent of meeting, and reigned over Israel.

¹³それからソロモンはギベオンの高き所を去り、会見の幕屋の前を去って、エルサレムに帰り、イスラエルを治めた。

¹⁴And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen; and he had a thousand four hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen; and he placed them in the chariot-cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

¹⁴ソロモンは戦車と騎兵とを集めたが、戦車一千四百両、騎兵一万二千人あった。ソロモンはこれを戦車の町々と、エルサレムの王のもととに置いた。

¹⁵And the king made silver and gold in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he as the sycamores that are in the lowland for abundance.

¹⁵王は銀と金を石のようにエルサレムに多くし、香柏を平野のいちじく桑のように多くした。

¹⁶And the exportation of horses that Solomon had was from Egypt: a caravan of the king's merchants fetched a drove [of horses], at a price.

¹⁶ソロモンが馬を輸入したのはエジプトとクエからであった。すなわち王の貿易商人がクエから代価を払って受け取って来た。彼らはエジプトから戦車一両を銀六百シケルで輸入し、馬一頭を銀百五十で輸入した。同じようにこれらのものが彼らによってヘテびとのすべての王たち、およびスリヤの王たちにも輸出された。

¹⁷And they fetched up and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred [shekels] of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty; and so they brought [them] by their means, for all the kings of the Hittites and for the kings of Syria.

¹⁷彼らはエジプトから戦車一両を銀六百シケルで輸入し、馬一頭を銀百五十で輸入した。同じようにこれらのものが彼らによってヘテびとのすべての王たち、およびスリヤの王たちにも輸出された。
