¹And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake?

¹時にダビデは言った、「サウルの家の人で、なお残っている者があるか。わたしはヨナタンのために、その人に恵みを施そう」。

²And there was of the house of Saul a servant whose name was Ziba; and they called him to David. And the king said to him, Art thou Ziba? And he said, Thy servant!

²さて、サウルの家にヂバという名のしもべがあったが、人々が彼をダビデのもとに呼び寄せたので、王は彼に言った、「あなたがヂバか」。彼は言った、「しもべがそうです」。

³And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may shew the kindness of God to him? And Ziba said to the king, Jonathan has yet a son, who is lame on [his] feet.

³王は言った、「サウルの家の人がまだ残っていませんか。わたしはその人に神の恵みを施そうと思う」。ヂバは王に言った、「ヨナタンの子がまだおります。あしなえです」。

⁴And the king said to him, Where is he? And Ziba said to the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lodebar.

⁴王は彼に言った、「その人はどこにいるのか」。ヂバは王に言った、「彼はロ・デバルのアンミエルの子マキルの家におります」。

⁵And king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lodebar.

⁶And Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, and fell on his face and did obeisance. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he said, Behold thy servant!

⁶サウルの子ヨナタンの子であるメピボセテはダビデのもとにきて、ひれ伏して拝した。ダビデが、「メピボセテよ」と言ったので、彼は、「しもべは、ここにおります」と答えた。

⁷And David said to him, Fear not; for I will certainly shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.

⁷ダビデは彼に言った、「恐れることはない。わたしはかならずあなたの父ヨナタンのためにあなたに恵みを施しましょう。あなたの父サウルの地をみなあなたに返します。またあなたは常にわたしの食卓で食事をしなさい」。

⁸And he bowed himself, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am?

⁸彼は拝して言った、「あなたは、しもべを何とおぼしめして、死んだ犬のようなわたしを顧みられるのですか」。

⁹Then the king called Ziba, Saul's servant, and said to him, I have given to thy master's son all that belonged to Saul and to all his house.

⁹王はサウルのしもべヂバを呼んで言った、「すべてサウルとその家に属する物を皆、わたしはあなたの主人の子に与えた。

¹⁰And thou, and thy sons, and thy servants, shall till the land for him, and thou shalt bring in [the fruits], that thy master's son may have food to eat. And Mephibosheth thy master's son shall eat bread at my table continually. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.

¹⁰あなたと、あなたの子たちと、しもべたちとは、彼のために地を耕して、あなたの主人の子が食べる食物を取り入れなければならない。しかしあなたの主人の子メピボセテはいつもわたしの食卓で食事をするであろう」。ヂバには十五人の男の子と二十人のしもべがあった。

¹¹And Ziba said to the king, According to all that my lord the king has commanded his servant, so will thy servant do. And Mephibosheth [said David] shall eat at my table, as one of the king's sons.

¹¹ヂバは王に言った、「すべて王わが主君がしもべに命じられるとおりに、しもべはいたしましょう」。こうしてメピボセテは王の子のひとりのようにダビデの食卓で食事をした。

¹²And Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Mica. And all who dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants to Mephibosheth.

¹²メピボセテには小さい子があって、名をミカといった。そしてヂバの家に住んでいる者はみなメピボセテのしもべとなった。メピボセテはエルサレムに住んだ。彼がいつも王の食卓で食事をしたからである。彼は両足ともに、なえていた。

¹³So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem; for he did eat continually at the king's table. And he was lame on both his feet.
