¹And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

¹主の言葉がまたわたしに臨んだ、

²And thou, son of man, thus saith the Lord Jehovah unto the land of Israel: An end, the end is come upon the four corners of the land.

²「人の子よ、イスラエルの地の終りについて主はこう言われる、この国の四方の境に終りが来た。

³Now is the end upon thee; and I will send mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways, and will bring upon thee all thine abominations.

³いま、あなたの終りが来た。わたしはわが怒りをあなたに漏らし、あなたの行いに従って、あなたをさばき、あなたのもろもろの憎むべき物のためにあなたを罰する。

⁴And mine eye shall not spare thee, neither will I have pity; but I will bring thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah.

⁴わたしの目はあなたを惜しみ見ず、またあなたをあわれまない。わたしはあなたの行いのためにあなたを罰する。あなたの憎むべき事があなたのうちにある。これによって、あなたがたはわたしが主であることを知るようになる。

⁵Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: An evil, an only evil! behold, it is come.

⁵主なる神はこう言われる、災が引き続いて起る。見よ、災が来る。

⁶The end is come, the end is come; it awaketh against thee: behold, it cometh.

⁶終りが来る。その終りが来る。それが起って、あなたに臨む。見よ、それが来る。

⁷The doom is come unto thee, inhabitant of the land; the time is come, the day is near, -- tumult, and not the joyous cry from the mountains.

⁷この地に住む者よ、あなたの最後の運命があなたに来た。時は来た。日が近づいた。混乱の日で、山々に聞える喜びの日ではない。

⁸Now will I soon pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine anger against thee; and I will judge thee according to thy ways, and will bring upon thee all thine abominations.

⁸今わたしは、すみやかにわたしの憤りをあなたの上に注ぎ、わたしの怒りをあなたに漏らし尽し、あなたの行いに従ってあなたをさばき、あなたのもろもろの憎むべき事のためにあなたを罰する。

⁹And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will render unto thee according to thy ways, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that it is I, Jehovah, that smite.

⁹わたしの目はあなたを惜しみ見ず、またあなたをあわれまない。わたしはあなたの行いのためにあなたを罰する。あなたの憎むべき事があなたのうちにある。これによって、あなたがたは、主であるわたしがあなたを撃つことを知るようになる。

¹⁰Behold the day, behold, it is come: the doom is gone forth; the rod hath blossomed, pride is full blown.

¹⁰見よ、その日を。また見よ、かの日が来た。あなたの最後の運命が来た。不義は花咲き、高ぶりは芽を出した。

¹¹Violence is risen up into a rod of wickedness: nothing of them [shall remain], nor of their multitude, nor of their wealth, nor of the magnificence in the midst of them.

¹¹暴虐はつのって悪のつえとなった。彼らもその群衆も、その富も消え、また彼らの名声も消えて何も残らなくなる。

¹²The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn; for fierce anger is upon all the multitude thereof.

¹²時は来た。日は近づいた。買う者は喜ぶな。売る者は悲しむな。怒りがすべての群衆の上に臨むからだ。

¹³For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, even though he were yet alive amongst the living: for the vision is touching the whole multitude thereof; it shall not be revoked; and none shall through his iniquity assure his life.

¹³売る者はたとい生きていても、その売ったものに帰ることはない。怒りがそのすべての民衆の上にあるからだ。それはもとに帰らない。その不義のために、だれも命を全うすることはできない。

¹⁴They have blown the trumpet and made all ready, but none goeth to the battle; for my fierce anger is upon all the multitude thereof.

¹⁴人々がラッパを吹いて備えをしても戦いに出る者はない。それはわたしの怒りがそのすべての群衆の上にあるからだ。

¹⁵The sword is without, and the pestilence and the famine within: he that is in the field shall die by the sword; and he that is in the city, famine and pestilence shall devour him.

¹⁵外にはつるぎがあり、内には疫病とききんがある。畑にいる者はつるぎに死に、町にいる者はききんと疫病に滅ぼされる。

¹⁶And they that escape of them shall escape, and shall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, every one for his iniquity.

¹⁶そのうちの、のがれる者は谷間のはとのように山々に行って、おのおの皆その罪のために悲しむ。

¹⁷All hands shall be feeble, and all knees shall melt into water.

¹⁷両手とも弱くなり、両ひざとも水のように弱くなる。

¹⁸And they shall gird on sackcloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads.

¹⁸彼らは荒布を身にまとい、恐れが彼らをおおい、すべての顔には恥があらわれ、すべての頭は髪をそり落す。

¹⁹They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be as an impurity: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of Jehovah's wrath; they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their belly; for it hath been the stumbling-block of their iniquity.

¹⁹彼らはその銀をちまたに捨て、その金はあくたのようになる。主の怒りの日には金銀も彼らを救うことはできない。それらは彼らの飢えを満足させることができない、またその腹を満たすことができない。それは彼らの不義のつまずきであったからだ。

²⁰And he set in majesty his beautiful ornament; but they made therein the images of their abominations [and] of their detestable things: therefore have I made it an impurity unto them.

²⁰彼らはその美しい飾り物を高ぶりのために用い、またこれをもってその憎むべき偶像と忌むべき物を造った。それゆえわたしはこれを彼らに対して汚れたものとする。

²¹And I will give it into the hands of strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall profane it.

²¹わたしはこれを外国人の手に渡して奪わせ、地の悪人に渡してかすめさせる。彼らはこれを汚す。

²²And I will turn my face from them; and they shall profane my secret [place]; and the violent shall enter into it, and profane it.

²²わたしは彼らから顔をそむけて、彼らにわたしの聖所を汚させる。強盗がこれにはいって汚し、

²³Make the chain; for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.

²³また荒れ地とする。この地は流血のとがに満ち、この町は暴虐に満ちているゆえ、

²⁴Therefore will I bring the worst of the nations, and they shall possess their houses; and I will make the pride of the strong to cease; and their sanctuaries shall be profaned.

²⁴わたしは国々のうちの悪い者どもを招いて、彼らの家をかすめさせる。わたしは強い者の高ぶりをやめさせる。また彼らの聖所は汚される。

²⁵Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, but there shall be none.

²⁵滅びが来るとき、彼らは平安を求めても得られない。

²⁶Mischief shall come upon mischief, and rumour shall be upon rumour; and they shall seek a vision from a prophet; but the law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the elders.

²⁶災に災が重なりきたり、知らせに知らせが相つぐ。その時、彼らは預言者に幻を求める。しかし律法は祭司のうちに絶え、計りごとは長老のうちに絶える。王は悲しみ、つかさは望みを失い、その地の民の手はおののきによってこわばる。わたしは彼らの行いに従って彼らをあつかい、そのさばきに従って彼らをさばく。そして彼らはわたしが主であることを知るようになる」。

²⁷The king shall mourn, and the prince shall be clothed with dismay, and the hands of the people of the land shall tremble: I will do unto them according to their way, and with their judgments will I judge them; and they shall know that I [am] Jehovah.

²⁷王は悲しみ、つかさは望みを失い、その地の民の手はおののきによってこわばる。わたしは彼らの行いに従って彼らをあつかい、そのさばきに従って彼らをさばく。そして彼らはわたしが主であることを知るようになる」。
