¹For Jehovah will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in rest in their own land; and the stranger shall be united to them, and they shall be joined to the house of Jacob.

¹主はヤコブをあわれみ、イスラエルを再び選んで、これをおのれの地に置かれる。異邦人はこれに加わって、ヤコブの家に結びつらなり、

²And the peoples shall take them and bring them to their place; and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of Jehovah for servants and handmaids; and they shall take them captive whose captives they were, and they shall rule over their oppressors.

²もろもろの民は彼らを連れてその所に導いて来る。そしてイスラエルの家は、主の地で彼らを男女の奴隷とし、さきに自分たちを捕虜にした者を捕虜にし、自分たちをしえたげた者を治める。

³And it shall come to pass in the day that Jehovah shall give thee rest from thy sorrow and from thy trouble and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,

³主があなたの苦労と不安とを除き、またあなたが服した苦役を除いて、安息をお与えになるとき、

⁴that thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased, -- the exactress of gold ceased!

⁴あなたはこのあざけりの歌をとなえ、バビロンの王をののしって言う、「あの、しえたげる者は全く絶えてしまった。あの、おごる者は全く絶えてしまった。

⁵Jehovah hath broken the staff of the wicked, the sceptre of the rulers.

⁵主は悪い者のつえと、つかさびとの笏を折られた。

⁶He that smote the peoples in wrath with a relentless stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted unsparingly.

⁶彼らは憤りをもってもろもろの民を絶えず撃っては打ち、怒りをもってもろもろの国を治めても、そのしえたげをとどめる者がなかった。

⁷The whole earth is at rest, is quiet: they break forth into singing.

⁷全地はやすみを得、穏やかになり、ことごとく声をあげて歌う。

⁸Even the cypresses rejoice at thee, the cedars of Lebanon, [saying,] Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.

⁸いとすぎおよびレバノンの香柏でさえもあなたのゆえに喜んで言う、『あなたはすでに倒れたので、もはや、きこりが上ってきて、われわれを攻めることはない』。

⁹Sheol from beneath is moved for thee to meet [thee] at thy coming, stirring up the dead for thee, all the he-goats of the earth; making to rise from their thrones all the kings of the nations.

⁹下の陰府はあなたのために動いて、あなたの来るのを迎え、地のもろもろの指導者たちの亡霊をあなたのために起し、国々のもろもろの王をその王座から立ちあがらせる。

¹⁰All of them shall answer and say unto thee, Art thou also become powerless as we; art thou become like unto us!

¹⁰彼らは皆あなたに告げて言う、『あなたもまたわれわれのように弱くなった、あなたもわれわれと同じようになった』。

¹¹-- Thy pomp is brought down to Sheol, the noise of thy lyres: the maggot is spread under thee, and worms cover thee.

¹¹あなたの栄華とあなたの琴の音は陰府に落ちてしまった。うじはあなたの下に敷かれ、みみずはあなたをおおっている。

¹²How art thou fallen from heaven, Lucifer, son of the morning! Thou art cut down to the ground, that didst prostrate the nations!

¹²黎明の子、明けの明星よ、あなたは天から落ちてしまった。もろもろの国を倒した者よ、あなたは切られて地に倒れてしまった。

¹³And thou that didst say in thy heart, I will ascend into the heavens, I will exalt my throne above the stars of ùGod, and I will sit upon the mount of assembly, in the recesses of the north;

¹³あなたはさきに心のうちに言った、『わたしは天にのぼり、わたしの王座を高く神の星の上におき、北の果なる集会の山に座し、

¹⁴I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High:

¹⁴雲のいただきにのぼり、いと高き者のようになろう』。

¹⁵none the less art thou brought down to Sheol, to the recesses of the pit.

¹⁵しかしあなたは陰府に落され、穴の奥底に入れられる。

¹⁶They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee; they shall consider thee, [saying,] Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that shook kingdoms;

¹⁶あなたを見る者はつくづくあなたを見、あなたに目をとめて言う、『この人は地を震わせ、国々を動かし、

¹⁷[that] made the world as a wilderness, and overthrew the cities thereof; [that] dismissed not his prisoners homewards?

¹⁷世界を荒野のようにし、その都市をこわし、捕えた者をその家に解き帰さなかった者であるのか』。

¹⁸-- All the kings of the nations, all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house;

¹⁸もろもろの国の王たちは皆尊いさまで、自分の墓に眠る。

¹⁹but thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, covered with the slain -- those thrust through with the sword, that go down to the stones of the pit: like a carcase trodden under foot.

¹⁹しかしあなたは忌みきらわれる月足らぬ子のように墓のそとに捨てられ、つるぎで刺し殺された者でおおわれ、踏みつけられる死体のように穴の石に下る。

²⁰Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial; for thou hast destroyed thy land, hast slain thy people. Of the seed of evildoers no mention shall be made for ever.

²⁰あなたは自分の国を滅ぼし、自分の民を殺したために、彼らと共に葬られることはない。どうか、悪を行う者の子孫はとこしえに名を呼ばれることのないように。

²¹Prepare ye slaughter for his children, because of the iniquity of their fathers; that they may not rise up and possess the earth, nor fill the face of the world with cities.

²¹先祖のよこしまのゆえに、その子孫のためにほふり場を備えよ。これは彼らが起って地を取り、世界のおもてに町々を満たすことのないためである」。

²²For I will rise up against them, saith Jehovah of hosts, and cut off from Babylon name and remnant, and scion and descendant, saith Jehovah.

²²万軍の主は言われる、「わたしは立って彼らを攻め、バビロンからその名と、残れる者、その子と孫とを断ち滅ぼす、と主は言う。

²³And I will make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water; and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith Jehovah of hosts.

²³わたしはこれをはりねずみのすみかとし、水の池とし、滅びのほうきをもって、これを払い除く、と万軍の主は言う」。

²⁴Jehovah of hosts hath sworn saying, Assuredly as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, it shall stand:

²⁴万軍の主は誓って言われる、「わたしが思ったように必ず成り、わたしが定めたように必ず立つ。

²⁵to break the Assyrian in my land; and upon my mountains will I tread him under foot; and his yoke shall depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.

²⁵わたしはアッスリヤびとをわが地で打ち破り、わが山々で彼を踏みにじる。こうして彼が置いたくびきはイスラエルびとから離れ、彼が負わせた重荷はイスラエルびとの肩から離れる」。

²⁶This is the counsel which is purposed concerning the whole earth; and this is the hand which is stretched out upon all the nations.

²⁶これは全地について定められた計画である。これは国々の上に伸ばされた手である。

²⁷For Jehovah of hosts hath purposed, and who shall frustrate [it]? And his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

²⁷万軍の主が定められるとき、だれがそれを取り消すことができるのか。その手を伸ばされるとき、だれがそれを引きもどすことができるのか。

²⁸In the year of the death of king Ahaz was this burden:

²⁸アハズ王の死んだ年にこの託宣があった、

²⁹Rejoice not thou, Philistia, all of thee, because the rod that smote thee is broken; for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a viper, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.

²⁹「ペリシテの全地よ、あなたを打ったむちが折られたことを喜んではならない。へびの根からまむしが出、その実は飛びかけるへびとなるからだ。

³⁰And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety; but I will kill thy root with famine, and thy remnant shall be slain.

³⁰いと貧しい者は食を得、乏しい者は安らかに伏す。しかし、わたしはききんをもってあなたの子孫を殺し、あなたの残れる者を滅ぼす。

³¹Howl, O gate! cry, O city! thou, Philistia, art wholly dissolved; for there cometh from the north a smoke, and none remaineth apart in his gatherings [of troops].

³¹門よ、泣きわめけ。町よ、叫べ。ペリシテの全地よ、恐れのあまり消えうせよ、北から煙が来るからだ。その隊列からは、ひとりも脱落する者はない」。その国の使者たちになんと答えようか。「主はシオンの基をおかれた、その民の苦しむ者はこの中に避け所を得る」と答えよ。

³²And what shall be answered to the messengers of the nation? That Jehovah hath founded Zion, and the afflicted of his people find refuge in it.
