1I will sing to my well-beloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard: My well-beloved had a vineyard upon a fruitful hill.
1わたしはわが愛する者のために、そのぶどう畑についてのわが愛の歌をうたおう。わが愛する者は土肥えた小山の上に、一つのぶどう畑をもっていた。
2And he dug it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine; and he built a tower in the midst of it, and also hewed out a winepress therein; and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, but it brought forth wild grapes.
2彼はそれを掘りおこし、石を除き、それに良いぶどうを植え、その中に物見やぐらを建て、またその中に酒ぶねを掘り、良いぶどうの結ぶのを待ち望んだ。ところが結んだものは野ぶどうであった。
3And now, inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, between me and my vineyard.
3それで、エルサレムに住む者とユダの人々よ、どうか、わたしとぶどう畑との間をさばけ。
4What was there yet to do to my vineyard that I have not done in it? Wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes? --
4わたしが、ぶどう畑になした事のほかに、何かなすべきことがあるか。わたしは良いぶどうの結ぶのを待ち望んだのに、どうして野ぶどうを結んだのか。
5And now, let me tell you what I am about to do to my vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it shall be eaten up; I will break down its wall, and it shall be trodden under foot;
5それで、わたしが、ぶどう畑になそうとすることを、あなたがたに告げる。わたしはそのまがきを取り去って、食い荒されるにまかせ、そのかきをとりこわして、踏み荒されるにまかせる。
6and I will make it a waste -- it shall not be pruned nor cultivated, but there shall come up briars and thorns; and I will command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
6わたしはこれを荒して、刈り込むことも、耕すこともせず、おどろと、いばらとを生えさせ、また雲に命じて、その上に雨を降らさない。
7For the vineyard of Jehovah of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah the plant of his delight: and he looked for justice, and behold, blood-shedding; for righteousness, and behold, a cry.
7万軍の主のぶどう畑はイスラエルの家であり、主が喜んでそこに植えられた物は、ユダの人々である。主はこれに公平を望まれたのに、見よ、流血。正義を望まれたのに、見よ、叫び。
8Woe unto them that add house to house, that join field to field, until there is no more room, and that ye dwell yourselves alone in the midst of the land!
8わざわいなるかな、彼らは家に家を建て連ね、田畑に田畑をまし加えて、余地をあまさず、自分ひとり、国のうちに住まおうとする。
9In mine ears Jehovah of hosts [hath said], Many houses shall assuredly become a desolation, great and excellent ones, without inhabitant.
9万軍の主はわたしの耳に誓って言われた、「必ずや多くの家は荒れすたれ、大きな麗しい家も住む者がないようになる。
10Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and a homer of seed shall yield an ephah.
10十反のぶどう畑もわずかに一バテの実を結び、一ホメルの種もわずかに一エパの実を結ぶ」。
11Woe unto them that, rising early in the morning, run after strong drink; that linger till twilight, [till] wine inflameth them!
11わざわいなるかな、彼らは朝早く起きて、濃き酒をおい求め、夜のふけるまで飲みつづけて、酒にその身を焼かれている。
12And harp and lyre, tambour and flute, and wine are in their banquets; but they regard not the work of Jehovah, nor do they see the operation of his hands.
12彼らの酒宴には琴あり、立琴あり、鼓あり笛あり、ぶどう酒がある。しかし彼らは主のみわざを顧みず、み手のなされる事に目をとめない。
13Therefore my people are led away captive from lack of knowledge, and their nobility die of famine, and their multitude are parched with thirst.
13それゆえ、わが民は無知のために、とりこにせられ、その尊き者は飢えて死に、そのもろもろの民は、かわきによって衰えはてる。
14Therefore doth Sheol enlarge its desire, and open its mouth without measure; and her splendour shall descend [into it], and her multitude, and her tumult, and [all] that is joyful within her.
14また陰府はその欲望を大きくし、その口を限りなく開き、エルサレムの貴族、そのもろもろの民、その群集およびそのうちの喜びたのしめる者はみなその中に落ちこむ。
15And the mean man shall be bowed down, and the great man brought low, and the eyes of the lofty shall be brought low;
15人はかがめられ、人々は低くせられ、高ぶる者の目は低くされる。
16and Jehovah of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and the holy ùGod hallowed in righteousness.
16しかし万軍の主は公平によってあがめられ、聖なる神は正義によって、おのれを聖なる者として示される。
17And the lambs shall feed as on their pasture, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat.
17こうして小羊は自分の牧場におるように草をはみ、肥えた家畜および子やぎは荒れ跡の中で食を得る。
18Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as with cart-ropes!
18わざわいなるかな、彼らは偽りのなわをもって悪を引きよせ、車の綱をもってするように罪を引きよせる。
19who say, Let him hasten, let him speed his work, that we may see [it]; and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!
19彼らは言う、「彼を急がせ、そのわざをすみやかにさせよ、それを見せてもらおう。イスラエルの聖者の定める事を近づききたらせよ、それを見せてもらおう」と。
20Woe unto them who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
20わざわいなるかな、彼らは悪を呼んで善といい、善を呼んで悪といい、暗きを光とし、光を暗しとし、苦きを甘しとし、甘きを苦しとする。
21Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and intelligent in their own esteem!
21わざわいなるかな、彼らはおのれを見て、賢しとし、みずから顧みて、さとしとする。
22Woe unto them that are mighty for drinking wine, and men valiant to mix strong drink;
22わざわいなるかな、彼らはぶどう酒を飲むことの英雄であり、濃き酒をまぜ合わせることの勇士である。
23who justify the wicked for a bribe, and turn away the righteousness of the righteous from them!
23彼らはまいないによって悪しき者を義とし、義人からその義を奪う。
24Therefore as a tongue of fire devoureth the stubble, and dry grass sinketh down in the flame, their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust; for they have rejected the law of Jehovah of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
24それゆえ、火の舌が刈り株を食い尽すように、枯れ草が炎の中に消えうせるように、彼らの根は朽ちたものとなり、彼らの花はちりのように飛び去る。彼らは万軍の主の律法を捨て、イスラエルの聖者の言葉を侮ったからである。
25Therefore is the anger of Jehovah kindled against his people, and he hath stretched out his hand against them and hath smitten them; and the mountains trembled, and their carcases are become as dung in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still.
25それゆえ、主はその民にむかって怒りを発し、み手を伸べて彼らを撃たれた。山は震い動き、彼らのしかばねは、ちまたの中で、あくたのようになった。それにもかかわらず、み怒りはやまず、なお、み手を伸ばされる。
26And he will lift up a banner to the nations afar off, and will hiss for one from the end of the earth; and behold, it will come rapidly [and] lightly.
26主は旗をあげて遠くから一つの国民を招き、地の果から彼らを呼ばれる。見よ、彼らは走って、すみやかに来る。
27None among them is weary, none stumbleth; they slumber not, nor sleep; none hath the girdle of his loins loosed, nor the thong of his sandals broken;
27その中には疲れる者も、つまずく者もなく、まどろむ者も、眠る者もない。その腰の帯はとけず、そのくつのひもは切れていない。
28their arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent; their horses' hoofs are reckoned as the flint, and their wheels as a whirlwind.
28その矢は鋭く、その弓はことごとく張り、その馬のひずめは火打石のように、その車の輪はつむじ風のように思われる。
29Their roaring is like a lioness, they roar as the young lions; yea, they growl, and snatch the prey, and carry it away safe, and there is none to deliver;
29そのほえることは、ししのように、若いししのようにほえ、うなって獲物を捕え、かすめ去っても救う者がない。その日、その鳴りどよめくことは、海の鳴りどよめくようだ。もし地をのぞむならば、見よ、暗きと悩みとがあり、光は雲によって暗くなる。
30and they shall roar against them in that day like the roaring of the sea. And if one look upon the earth, behold darkness [and] distress, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.
30その日、その鳴りどよめくことは、海の鳴りどよめくようだ。もし地をのぞむならば、見よ、暗きと悩みとがあり、光は雲によって暗くなる。
