¹And Job answered Jehovah and said,

¹そこでヨブは主に答えて言った、

²I know that thou canst do everything, and that thou canst be hindered in no thought of thine.

²「わたしは知ります、あなたはすべての事をなすことができ、またいかなるおぼしめしでも、あなたにできないことはないことを。

³Who is he that obscureth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered what I did not understand; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.

³『無知をもって神の計りごとをおおうこの者はだれか』。それゆえ、わたしはみずから悟らない事を言い、みずから知らない、測り難い事を述べました。

⁴Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and inform me.

⁴『聞け、わたしは語ろう、わたしはあなたに尋ねる、わたしに答えよ』。

⁵I had heard of thee by the hearing of the ear, but now mine eye seeth thee:

⁵わたしはあなたの事を耳で聞いていましたが、今はわたしの目であなたを拝見いたします。

⁶Wherefore I abhor [myself], and repent in dust and ashes.

⁶それでわたしはみずから恨み、ちり灰の中で悔います」。

⁷And it came to pass after Jehovah had spoken these words to Job, that Jehovah said to Eliphaz the Temanite, Mine anger is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends; for ye have not spoken rightly of me, like my servant Job.

⁷主はこれらの言葉をヨブに語られて後、テマンびとエリパズに言われた、「わたしの怒りはあなたとあなたのふたりの友に向かって燃える。あなたがたが、わたしのしもべヨブのように正しい事をわたしについて述べなかったからである。

⁸And now, take for yourselves seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt-offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you, for him will I accept: lest I deal with you [after your] folly, for ye have not spoken of me rightly, like my servant Job.

⁸それで今、あなたがたは雄牛七頭、雄羊七頭を取って、わたしのしもべヨブの所へ行き、あなたがたのために燔祭をささげよ。わたしのしもべヨブはあなたがたのために祈るであろう。わたしは彼の祈を受けいれるによって、あなたがたの愚かを罰することをしない。あなたがたはわたしのしもべヨブのように正しい事をわたしについて述べなかったからである」。

⁹Then Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite, went and did according as Jehovah had said unto them; and Jehovah accepted Job.

⁹そこでテマンびとエリパズ、シュヒびとビルダデ、ナアマびとゾパルは行って、主が彼らに命じられたようにしたので、主はヨブの祈を受けいれられた。

¹⁰And Jehovah turned the captivity of Job, when he had prayed for his friends; and Jehovah gave Job twice as much as he had before.

¹⁰ヨブがその友人たちのために祈ったとき、主はヨブの繁栄をもとにかえし、そして主はヨブのすべての財産を二倍に増された。

¹¹And all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, came to him, and they ate bread with him in his house, and they condoled with him, and comforted him concerning all the evil that Jehovah had brought upon him; and every one gave him a piece of money, and every one a golden ring.

¹¹そこで彼のすべての兄弟、すべての姉妹、および彼の旧知の者どもことごとく彼のもとに来て、彼と共にその家で飲み食いし、かつ主が彼にくだされたすべての災について彼をいたわり、慰め、おのおの銀一ケシタと金の輪一つを彼に贈った。

¹²And Jehovah blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning; and he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she-asses.

¹²主はヨブの終りを初めよりも多く恵まれた。彼は羊一万四千頭、らくだ六千頭、牛一千くびき、雌ろば一千頭をもった。

¹³And he had seven sons and three daughters.

¹³また彼は男の子七人、女の子三人をもった。

¹⁴And he called the name of the first, Jemimah; and the name of the second, Keziah; and the name of the third, Keren-happuch.

¹⁴彼はその第一の娘をエミマと名づけ、第二をケジアと名づけ、第三をケレン・ハップクと名づけた。

¹⁵And in all the land were no women found [so] fair as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.

¹⁵全国のうちでヨブの娘たちほど美しい女はなかった。父はその兄弟たちと同様に嗣業を彼らにも与えた。

¹⁶And Job lived after this a hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, four generations.

¹⁶この後、ヨブは百四十年生きながらえて、その子とその孫と四代までを見た。ヨブは年老い、日満ちて死んだ。

¹⁷And Job died, old and full of days.
