¹And these are the priests and the Levites that went up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,

⁷Sallu, Amok, Hilkijah, Jedaiah. These were the chief of the priests and of their brethren in the days of Jeshua.

⁸And the Levites: Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, Mattaniah, [who was] over the thanksgiving, he and his brethren;

⁹and Bakbukiah and Unni, their brethren, were over against them as watches.

¹⁰And Jeshua begot Joiakim, and Joiakim begot Eliashib, and Eliashib begot Joiada,

¹¹and Joiada begot Jonathan, and Jonathan begot Jaddua.

¹²And in the days of Joiakim were priests, chief fathers: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah;

¹⁸of Bilgah, Shammua; of Shemaiah, Jehonathan;

¹⁸ビルガの氏族ではシャンマ、シマヤの氏族ではヨナタン、

¹⁹and of Joiarib, Mattenai; of Jedaiah, Uzzi;

¹⁹ヨヤリブの氏族ではマッテナイ、エダヤの氏族ではウジ、

²⁰of Sallai, Kallai; of Amok, Eber;

²⁰サライの氏族ではカライ、アモクの氏族ではエベル、

²¹of Hilkijah, Hashabiah; of Jedaiah, Nethaneel.

²¹ヒルキヤの氏族ではハシャビヤ、エダヤの氏族ではネタンエルである。

²²of the Levites, the chief fathers were recorded in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, and Johanan, and Jaddua, and the priests, until the reign of Darius the Persian.

²²レビびとについては、エリアシブ、ヨイアダ、ヨハナンおよびヤドアの時代に、その氏族の長たちが登録された。また祭司たちもペルシャ王ダリヨスの治世まで登録された。

²³The children of Levi, the chief fathers, were recorded in the book of the chronicles, even until the days of Johanan the son of Eliashib.

²⁴And the chief Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brethren over against them, to praise [and] to give thanks, according to the commandment of David the man of God, ward over against ward.

²⁴レビびとのかしらはハシャビヤ、セレビヤおよびカデミエルの子エシュアであって、その兄弟たち相向かい合い、組と組と対応して神の人ダビデの命令に従い、さんびと感謝をささげた。

²⁵Mattaniah and Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, Akkub, were doorkeepers keeping the ward at the storehouses of the gates.

²⁵マツタニヤ、バクブキヤ、オバデヤ、メシュラム、タルモンおよびアックブは門を守る者で門の内の倉を監督した。

²⁶These were in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor, and of Ezra the priest, the scribe.

²⁶これらはヨザダクの子エシュアの子ヨアキムの時代、また総督ネヘミヤおよび学者である祭司エズラの時代にいた人々である。

²⁷And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to hold the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing, [with] cymbals, lutes and harps.

²⁷さてエルサレムの城壁の落成式に当って、レビびとを、そのすべての所から招いてエルサレムにこさせ、感謝と、歌と、シンバルと、立琴と、琴とをもって喜んで落成式を行おうとした。

²⁸And the children of the singers were assembled, both from the plain [of Jordan] round about Jerusalem, and from the villages of the Netophathites,

²⁸そこで、歌うたう人々はエルサレムの周囲の地方、ネトパびとの村々から集まってきた。

²⁹also from Beth-Gilgal, and out of the fields of Geba and Azmaveth; for the singers had built themselves hamlets round about Jerusalem.

²⁹またベテギルガルおよびゲバとアズマウテの地方からも集まってきた。この歌うたう者たちはエルサレムの周囲に自分の村々を建てていたからである。

³⁰And the priests and the Levites purified themselves; and they purified the people, and the gates and the wall.

³⁰そして祭司とレビびとたちは身を清め、また民およびもろもろの門と城壁とを清めた。

³¹And I brought up the princes of Judah upon the wall, and appointed two great choirs and processions, on the right hand upon the wall towards the dung-gate.

³¹そこでわたしはユダのつかさたちを城壁の上にのぼらせ、また感謝する者の二つの大きな組を作って、行進させた。その一つは城壁の上を右に糞の門をさして進んだ。

³²And after them went Hoshaiah, and half of the princes of Judah,

³²そのあとに従って進んだ者はホシャヤ、およびユダのつかさたちの半ば、

³³and Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam,

³³ならびにアザリヤ、エズラ、メシュラム、

³⁴Judah and Benjamin, and Shemaiah, and Jeremiah,

³⁴ユダ、ベニヤミン、シマヤ、エレミヤであった。

³⁵and [certain] of the priests' sons with trumpets: Zechariah the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph;

³⁵また数人の祭司がラッパをもって従った。すなわちヨナタンの子ゼカリヤ。ヨナタンはシマヤの子、シマヤはマッタニヤの子、マッタニヤはミカヤの子、ミカヤはザックルの子、ザックルはアサフの子である。

³⁶and his brethren, Shemaiah, and Azareel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethaneel, and Judah, Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God; and Ezra the scribe before them.

³⁶またゼカリヤの兄弟たちシマヤ、アザリエル、ミラライ、ギラライ、マアイ、ネタンエル、ユダ、ハナニなどであって、神の人ダビデの楽器を持って従った。そして学者エズラは彼らの先に進んだ。

³⁷And at the fountain-gate, and over against them, they went up by the stairs of the city of David, at the ascent of the wall, above the house of David, even to the water-gate eastward.

³⁷彼らは泉の門を経て、まっすぐに進み、城壁の上り口で、ダビデの町の階段から上り、ダビデの家の上を過ぎて東の方、水の門に至った。

³⁸And the second choir went in the opposite direction upon the wall, and I after them, and the half of the people, from beyond the tower of the furnaces even to the broad wall;

³⁸他の一組の感謝する者は左に進んだ。わたしは民の半ばと共に彼らのあとに従った。そして城壁の上を行き、炉の望楼の上を過ぎて、城壁の広い所に至り、

³⁹and from above the gate of Ephraim, and above the gate of the old [wall], and above the fish-gate, and the tower of Hananeel, and the tower of Meah, even to the sheep-gate; and they stood still in the prison-gate.

³⁹エフライムの門の上を通り、古い門を過ぎ、魚の門およびハナネルの望楼とハンメアの望楼を過ぎて、羊の門に至り、近衛の門に立ち止まった。

⁴⁰And both choirs stood in the house of God, and I, and the half of the rulers with me;

⁴⁰こうして二組の感謝する者は神の宮にはいって立った。わたしもそこに立ち、つかさたちの半ばもわたしと共に立った。

⁴¹and the priests, Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, Hananiah, with trumpets;

⁴¹また祭司エリアキム、マアセヤ、ミニヤミン、ミカヤ、エリオエナイ、ゼカリヤ、ハナニヤらはラッパを持ち、

⁴²and Maaseiah, and Shemaiah, and Eleazar, and Uzzi, and Jehohanan, and Malchijah, and Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sang loud; and Jizrahiah was their overseer.

⁴²マアセヤ、シマヤ、エレアザル、ウジ、ヨハナン、マルキヤ、エラムおよびエゼルも共にいた。そして歌うたう者たちは声高く歌った。エズラヒヤはその監督であった。

⁴³And that day they offered great sacrifices, and rejoiced: for God had made them rejoice with great joy; and also the women and the children rejoiced. And the joy of Jerusalem was heard even afar off.

⁴³こうして彼らはその日、大いなる犠牲をささげて喜んだ。神が彼らを大いに喜び楽しませられたからである。女子供までも喜んだ。それでエルサレムの喜びの声は遠くまで聞えた。

⁴⁴And at that time men were appointed over the chambers of the treasures for the heave-offerings, for the first-fruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them, out of the fields of the cities, the portions assigned by the law for the priests and the Levites; for Judah rejoiced over the priests, and over the Levites that waited.

⁴⁴その日、倉のもろもろのへやをつかさどる人々を選び、ささげ物、初物、十分の一など律法の定めるところの祭司およびレビびとの分を町々の田畑にしたがって取り集めて、へやに入れることをつかさどらせた。これは祭司およびレビびとの仕えるのを、ユダびとが喜んだからである。

⁴⁵And, with the singers and the doorkeepers, they kept the ward of their God, and the ward of the purification, according to the commandment of David [and] of Solomon his son.

⁴⁵彼らはダビデおよびその子ソロモンの命令に従って、神の勤めおよび清め事の勤めをした。歌うたう者および門を守る者もそのように行った。

⁴⁶For of old, in the days of David and Asaph, there were the chiefs of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgivings to God.

⁴⁶昔ダビデおよびアサフの日には、歌うたう者のかしらがひとりいて、神にさんびと感謝をささげる事があった。またゼルバベルの日およびネヘミヤの日には、イスラエルびとはみな歌うたう者と門を守る者に日々の分を与え、またレビびとに物を聖別して与え、レビびとはまたこれを聖別してアロンの子孫に与えた。

⁴⁷And all Israel, in the days of Zerubbabel and in the days of Nehemiah, gave the portions of the singers and the doorkeepers, every day what was needed, and they consecrated things for the Levites; and the Levites consecrated for the children of Aaron.

⁴⁷またゼルバベルの日およびネヘミヤの日には、イスラエルびとはみな歌うたう者と門を守る者に日々の分を与え、またレビびとに物を聖別して与え、レビびとはまたこれを聖別してアロンの子孫に与えた。
