¹Bless Jehovah, O my soul! Jehovah my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with majesty and splendour;

¹わがたましいよ、主をほめよ。わが神、主よ、あなたはいとも大いにして誉と威厳とを着、

²Covering thyself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent-curtain; --

²光を衣のようにまとい、天を幕のように張り、

³Who layeth the beams of his upper chambers in the waters, who maketh clouds his chariot, who walketh upon the wings of the wind;

³水の上におのが高殿のうつばりをおき、雲をおのれのいくさ車とし、風の翼に乗りあるき、

⁴Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flame of fire.

⁴風をおのれの使者とし、火と炎をおのれのしもべとされる。

⁵He laid the earth upon its foundations: it shall not be removed for ever.

⁵あなたは地をその基の上にすえて、とこしえに動くことのないようにされた。

⁶Thou hadst covered it with the deep, as with a vesture; the waters stood above the mountains:

⁶あなたはこれを衣でおおうように大水でおおわれた。水はたたえて山々の上を越えた。

⁷At thy rebuke they fled, at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away; --

⁷あなたのとがめによって水は退き、あなたの雷の声によって水は逃げ去った。

⁸The mountains rose, the valleys sank, unto the place which thou hadst founded for them; --

⁸山は立ちあがり、谷はあなたが定められた所に沈んだ。

⁹Thou hast set a bound which they may not pass over, that they turn not again to cover the earth.

⁹あなたは水に境を定めて、これを越えさせず、再び地をおおうことのないようにされた。

¹⁰He sendeth the springs into the valleys: they run among the mountains;

¹⁰あなたは泉を谷にわき出させ、それを山々の間に流れさせ、

¹¹They give drink to every beast of the field; the wild asses quench their thirst.

¹¹野のもろもろの獣に飲ませられる。野のろばもそのかわきをいやす。

¹²The birds of heaven dwell by them; they give forth their voice from among the branches.

¹²空の鳥もそのほとりに住み、こずえの間にさえずり歌う。

¹³He watereth the mountains from his upper-chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.

¹³あなたはその高殿からもろもろの山に水を注がれる。地はあなたのみわざの実をもって満たされる。

¹⁴He maketh the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man; bringing forth bread out of the earth,

¹⁴あなたは家畜のために草をはえさせ、また人のためにその栽培する植物を与えて、地から食物を出させられる。

¹⁵And wine which gladdeneth the heart of man; making [his] face shine with oil; and with bread he strengtheneth man's heart.

¹⁵すなわち人の心を喜ばすぶどう酒、その顔をつややかにする油、人の心を強くするパンなどである。

¹⁶The trees of Jehovah are satisfied, the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted,

¹⁶主の木と、主がお植えになったレバノンの香柏とは豊かに潤され、

¹⁷Where the birds make their nests; [as for] the stork, the fir trees are her house.

¹⁷鳥はその中に巣をつくり、こうのとりはもみの木をそのすまいとする。

¹⁸The high mountains are for the wild goats; the cliffs, a refuge for the rock-badgers.

¹⁸高き山はやぎのすまい、岩は岩だぬきの隠れる所である。

¹⁹He made the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth its going down.

¹⁹あなたは月を造って季節を定められた。日はその入る時を知っている。

²⁰Thou makest darkness, and it is night, wherein all the beasts of the forest creep forth:

²⁰あなたは暗やみを造って夜とされた。その時、林の獣は皆忍び出る。

²¹The young lions roar after the prey, and to seek their food from ùGod.

²¹若きししはほえてえさを求め、神に食物を求める。

²²The sun ariseth, they retreat, and lay them down in their dens.

²²日が出ると退いて、その穴に寝る。

²³Man goeth forth unto his work, and to his labour until the evening.

²³人は出てわざにつき、その勤労は夕べに及ぶ。

²⁴How manifold are thy works, O Jehovah! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.

²⁴主よ、あなたのみわざはいかに多いことであろう。あなたはこれらをみな知恵をもって造られた。地はあなたの造られたもので満ちている。

²⁵Yonder is the great and wide sea: therein are moving things innumerable, living creatures small and great.

²⁵かしこに大いなる広い海がある。その中に無数のもの、大小の生き物が満ちている。

²⁶There go the ships; [there] that leviathan, which thou hast formed to play therein.

²⁶そこに舟が走り、あなたが造られたレビヤタンはその中に戯れる。

²⁷These all look unto thee, that thou mayest give their food in its season:

²⁷彼らは皆あなたが時にしたがって食物をお与えになるのを期待している。

²⁸That thou givest unto them, they gather; thou openest thy hand, they are filled with good.

²⁸あなたがお与えになると、彼らはそれを集める。あなたが手を開かれると、彼らは良い物で満たされる。

²⁹Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled; thou takest away their breath, they expire and return to their dust.

²⁹あなたがみ顔を隠されると、彼らはあわてふためく。あなたが彼らの息を取り去られると、彼らは死んでちりに帰る。

³⁰Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created, and thou renewest the face of the earth.

³⁰あなたが霊を送られると、彼らは造られる。あなたは地のおもてを新たにされる。

³¹The glory of Jehovah will endure for ever; Jehovah will rejoice in his works.

³¹どうか、主の栄光がとこしえにあるように。主がそのみわざを喜ばれるように。

³²He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth; he toucheth the mountains, and they smoke.

³²主が地を見られると、地は震い、山に触れられると、煙をいだす。

³³I will sing unto Jehovah as long as I live; I will sing psalms to my God while I have my being.

³³わたしは生きるかぎり、主にむかって歌い、ながらえる間はわが神をほめ歌おう。

³⁴My meditation shall be pleasant unto him; I will rejoice in Jehovah.

³⁴どうか、わたしの思いが主に喜ばれるように。わたしは主によって喜ぶ。どうか、罪びとが地から断ち滅ぼされ、悪しき者が、もはや、いなくなるように。わがたましいよ、主をほめよ。主をほめたたえよ。

³⁵Sinners shall be consumed out of the earth, and the wicked shall be no more. Bless Jehovah, O my soul. Hallelujah!

³⁵どうか、罪びとが地から断ち滅ぼされ、悪しき者が、もはや、いなくなるように。わがたましいよ、主をほめよ。主をほめたたえよ。
