¹Hear, Israel! Thou art to pass over the Jordan this day, to enter in to possess nations greater and mightier than thou, cities great and walled up to heaven,

¹“Klausyk, Izraeli! Tu pereisi šiandien per Jordaną, kad nugalėtum didesnes ir stipresnes tautas už save, didelius, iki dangaus sustiprintus miestus,

²a people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard [say], Who can stand before the sons of Anak!

²didelius ir augalotus žmones, Anako sūnus, kuriuos pats matei ir apie kuriuos girdėjai sakant: ‘Niekas jiems negali pasipriešinti’.

³Know then this day, that Jehovah thy God is he that goeth over before thee, a consuming fire; he will destroy them, and he will cast them down before thee, and thou shalt dispossess them and cause them to perish quickly, as Jehovah hath said unto thee.

³Žinok, kad Viešpats, tavo Dievas, eis pirma tavęs kaip ryjanti ugnis ir sunaikins juos, ir parblokš juos prieš tave; taip tu juos išvysi ir sunaikinsi greitai, kaip tau Viešpats pažadėjo.

⁴Thou shalt not say in thy heart, when Jehovah thy God thrusteth them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness Jehovah hath brought me in to possess this land; but for the wickedness of these nations doth Jehovah dispossess them from before thee.

⁴Kai Viešpats, tavo Dievas, juos išvarys nuo tavęs, nesakyk savo širdyje: ‘Viešpats mane įvedė dėl mano teisumo ir leido paveldėti šitą žemę’. Dėl šitų tautų piktadarysčių Viešpats išvaro jas nuo tavęs.

⁵Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thy heart, dost thou enter in to possess their land, but for the wickedness of these nations doth Jehovah thy God dispossess them from before thee, and that he may perform the word which Jehovah swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

⁵Ne dėl tavo teisumo ir širdies dorumo įeisi jų žemę paveldėti; jie yra išvaromi dėl jų pikto elgesio, kad Viešpats įvykdytų, ką su priesaika pažadėjo tavo tėvams: Abraomui, Izaokui ir Jokūbui.

⁶Know therefore that Jehovah thy God doth not give thee this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiff-necked people.

⁶Suprask, kad ne dėl tavo teisumo Viešpats, tavo Dievas, duos tau paveldėti šitą žemę, nes tu esi kietasprandė tauta.

⁷Remember, forget not, how thou provokedst Jehovah thy God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came to this place, ye have been rebellious against Jehovah.

⁷Atsimink ir neužmiršk, kaip sukėlei Viešpaties, savo Dievo, pyktį dykumoje. Nuo tos dienos, kai išėjai iš Egipto, iki atėjai į šią vietą, tu maištavai prieš Viešpatį.

⁸And at Horeb ye provoked Jehovah to wrath, and Jehovah was angry with you, to destroy you,

⁸Ir prie Horebo Jį įpykinai taip, kad Jis užsirūstinęs norėjo tave sunaikinti.

⁹when I went up the mountain to receive the tables of stone, the tables of the covenant which Jehovah made with you, and I abode in the mountain forty days and forty nights, -- I ate no bread and drank no water, --

⁹Aš užlipau ant kalno paimti akmeninių plokščių, plokščių sandoros, kurią Viešpats su jumis padarė, ir pasilikau ten keturiasdešimt parų, nevalgiau duonos ir negėriau vandens.

¹⁰-- and Jehovah delivered to me the two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them [was written] according to all the words which Jehovah spoke with you on the mountain from the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly.

¹⁰Viešpats įteikė man dvi akmenines plokštes, ant kurių buvo Dievo pirštu įrašyti žodžiai, kuriuos Jis kalbėjo iš ugnies tautos susirinkimui.

¹¹And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that Jehovah gave me the two tables of stone, the tables of the covenant.

¹¹Praėjus keturiasdešimčiai parų, Viešpats davė man dvi akmenines sandoros plokštes

¹²And Jehovah said unto me, Arise, go down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they have quickly turned aside from the way which I commanded them: they have made for themselves a molten image.

¹²ir tarė: ‘Eik skubiai iš čia, nes tauta, kurią išvedei iš Egipto, pasileido; jie greitai nukrypo nuo kelio, kurį jiems nurodžiau ir pasidirbdino stabą.

¹³And Jehovah spoke unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people.

¹³Matau, kad šita tauta kietasprandė;

¹⁴Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven; and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.

¹⁴leisk man ją sunaikinti ir išdildyti jos vardą iš po dangaus; iš tavęs padarysiu galingesnę ir didesnę tautą kaip šita’.

¹⁵And I turned and came down from the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire; and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.

¹⁵Aš leidausi žemyn nuo kalno, kuris degė ugnimi, laikydamas abiejose rankose dvi sandoros plokštes,

¹⁶And I saw, and behold, ye had sinned against Jehovah your God: ye had made for yourselves a molten calf; ye had quickly turned aside from the way which Jehovah had commanded you.

¹⁶ir pamačiau, kad nusidėjote Viešpačiui, savo Dievui, nusiliedinote veršį ir nuklydote nuo kelio, kurį Jis jums nurodė.

¹⁷And I seized the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and broke them before your eyes.

¹⁷Aš trenkiau abi plokštes į žemę ir jas sudaužiau jums matant,

¹⁸And I fell down before Jehovah, as at the first, forty days and forty nights, -- I ate no bread and drank no water, -- because of all your sin which ye had sinned, in doing what is evil in the eyes of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger.

¹⁸puoliau ant žemės prieš Viešpatį ir, kaip pirma, keturiasdešimt parų nevalgiau duonos ir negėriau vandens dėl jūsų nuodėmių, kuriomis nusidėjote, piktai pasielgdami Viešpaties akivaizdoje ir sukeldami Jo pyktį,

¹⁹For I was afraid of the anger and fury wherewith Jehovah was wroth against you to destroy you. And Jehovah listened unto me also at that time.

¹⁹nes bijojau Jo rūstybės, kuria užsidegęs norėjo jus sunaikinti. Viešpats išklausė mane dar ir tą kartą.

²⁰And with Aaron Jehovah was very angry to destroy him; and I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.

²⁰Jis buvo labai užsirūstinęs ant Aarono ir norėjo jį nužudyti. Aš meldžiausi ir už Aaroną.

²¹And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burned it with fire, and crushed it, and ground it very small, until it became fine dust; and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that flowed down from the mountain.

²¹Jūsų nuodėmę, veršį, kurį jūs buvote pasidarę, nutvėręs sudeginau ir, sutrupinęs į gabalėlius, visai sutrynęs į dulkes, įmečiau į upelį, tekantį nuo kalno.

²²And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibroth-hattaavah, ye provoked Jehovah to wrath.

²²Jūs užrūstinote Viešpatį taip pat Taberoje, Masoje ir Kibrot Taavoje.

²³And when Jehovah sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying, Go up and take possession of the land which I have given you, ye rebelled against the word of Jehovah your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.

²³Kai Jis iš Kadeš Barnėjos jus pasiuntė, sakydamas: ‘Eikite, užimkite ir paveldėkite žemę, kurią jums daviau’, jūs paniekinote Viešpaties, savo Dievo, įsakymą, netikėjote ir nenorėjote Jo klausyti.

²⁴Ye have been rebellious against Jehovah from the day that I knew you.

²⁴Kiek jus pažįstu, visada maištavote prieš Viešpatį.

²⁵So I fell down before Jehovah the forty days and forty nights, as I fell down; for Jehovah had said he would destroy you.

²⁵Aš kniūbsčias meldžiau Viešpatį keturiasdešimt parų, maldavau ir prašiau nesunaikinti jūsų, kaip buvo grasinęs.

²⁶I prayed therefore to Jehovah, and said, Lord Jehovah, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a powerful hand.

²⁶Aš meldžiausi sakydamas: ‘Viešpatie Dieve! Nesunaikink paveldėjimo ir savo tautos, kurią atpirkai savo didybe ir išvedei iš Egipto galinga ranka.

²⁷Remember thy servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not at the stubbornness of this people, nor at their wickedness, nor at their sin;

²⁷Atsimink savo tarnus Abraomą, Izaoką ir Jokūbą, nežiūrėk šitos tautos užsispyrimo, piktadarysčių ir nuodėmių,

²⁸lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because Jehovah was not able to bring them into the land which he had promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.

²⁸kad krašto, iš kurio mus išvedei, gyventojai nesakytų: ‘Kadangi Viešpats negalėjo jų įvesti į pažadėtąją žemę ir kadangi Jis jų nekenčia, Jis išvedė juos pražudyti dykumoje’.

²⁹They are indeed thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out with thy great power and with thy stretched-out arm.

²⁹Tačiau jie yra Tavo paveldėjimas ir Tavo tauta, kurią išvedei iš Egipto savo galia ir savo ištiesta ranka’ ”.
