¹Am I not free? am I not an apostle? have I not seen Jesus our Lord? are not *ye* my work in [the] Lord?

¹[Ny nandeferan'i Paoly tsy hovelomin'ny fiangonana tao Korinto] Tsy olona afaka va aho? Tsy Apostoly va aho? Tsy efa nahita an'i Jesosy Tompontsika va aho? Tsy asako ao amin'ny Tompo va ianareo?

²If I am not an apostle to others, yet at any rate I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are *ye* in [the] Lord.

²Raha tsy Apostoly ho an'ny sasany aza aho, dia Apostoly ho anareo tokoa; fa ianareo no tombo-kase mah'Apostoly ahy ao amin'ny Tompo.

³My defence to those who examine me is this:

³Izany no avaliko izay manadina ahy.

⁴Have we not a right to eat and to drink?

⁴Moa tsy mahazo mihinana sy misotro va izahay?

⁵have we not a right to take round a sister [as] wife, as also the other apostles, and the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

⁵Moa tsy mahazo mitondra vady izay isan'ny mino va izahay, tahaka ny Apostoly sasany koa sy ny rahalahin'ny Tompo ary Kefasy? [ Gr. anabavy]

⁶Or *I* alone and Barnabas, have we not a right not to work?

⁶Sa izaho ihany sy Barnabasy no tsy mahazo mitsahatra tsy miasa?

⁷Who ever carries on war at his own charges? who plants a vineyard and does not eat of its fruit? or who herds a flock and does not eat of the milk of the flock?

⁷Iza no mandeha manafika ka mivelona amin'ny haren'ny tenany? Iza no manao tanim-boaloboka ka tsy mihinana ny vokatra? Ary iza no miandry ondry aman'osy ka tsy mihinana ny rononony?

⁸Do I speak these things as a man, or does not the law also say these things?

⁸Moa araka ny fihevitry ny olona va no itenenako izany, sa ny lalàna mba milaza izany koa?

⁹For in the law of Moses it is written, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that is treading out corn. Is God occupied about the oxen,

⁹Fa voasoratra eo amin'ny lalàn'i Mosesy hoe: Aza manakombona ny vavan'ny omby mively vary (Deo. 25. 4). Ny omby va no ahin'Andriamanitra?

¹⁰or does he say [it] altogether for our sakes? For for our sakes it has been written, that the plougher should plough in hope, and he that treads out corn, in hope of partaking of [it].

¹⁰Sa noho izahay mihitsy no nanaovana izany teny izany? Eny, fa noho izahay indrindra no nanoratana izany, satria izay miasa tany dia tokony hiasa amin'ny fanantenana, ary izay mively vary dia tokony hively amin'ny fanantenana hahazo.

¹¹If we have sown to you spiritual things, [is it a] great [thing] if *we* shall reap your carnal things?

¹¹Raha izahay namafy izay zava-panahy ho anareo, dia zavatra lehibe va raha mba mijinja izay anananareo araka ny nofo kosa izahay?

¹²If others partake of this right over you, should not rather *we*? But we have not used this right, but we bear all things, that we may put no hindrance in the way of the glad tidings of the Christ.

¹²Raha ny hafa aza manana izany fahefana izany aminareo, tsy mainka va fa izahay? Kanefa tsy nanampatra izany fahefana izany izahay, fa mihafy amin'ny zavatra rehetra, fandrao hisakana ny filazantsaran'i Kristy.

¹³Do ye not know that they who labour [at] sacred things eat of the [offerings offered in the] temple; they that attend at the altar partake with the altar?

¹³Tsy fantatrareo va fa izay manompo amin'ny zavatra masina dia mihinana ny zavatry ny tempoly, ary izay manompo eo amin'ny alitara dia miombona amin'ny alitara?

¹⁴So also the Lord has ordained to those that announce the glad tidings to live of the glad tidings.

¹⁴Toy izany koa no nandidian'ny Tompo, fa izay mitory ny filazantsara dia hahazo fivelomana amin'ny filazantsara.

¹⁵But *I* have used none of these things. Now I have not written these things that it should be thus in my case; for [it were] good for me rather to die than that any one should make vain my boast.

¹⁵Nefa tsy nahavatra izany zavatra izany na dia kely akory aza aho; ary tsy manoratra izany aho mba hanaovana izany amiko; fa aleoko maty toy izay hisy hahafoana ny reharehako.

¹⁶For if I announce the glad tidings, I have nothing to boast of; for a necessity is laid upon me; for it is woe to me if I should not announce the glad tidings.

¹⁶Fa raha mitory ny filazantsara aho, dia tsy misy ho reharehako, satria tsy maintsy manao izany; fa lozako, raha tsy mitory ny filazantsara aho!

¹⁷For if I do this voluntarily, I have a reward; but if not of my own will, I am entrusted with an administration.

¹⁷Fa raha ny sitrapoko no anaovako izany, dia mahazo valim-pitia aho; fa raha tsy ny sitrapoko, dia natolotra aho ho andraikitro izany.

¹⁸What is the reward then that I have? That in announcing the glad tidings I make the glad tidings costless [to others], so as not to have made use, as belonging to me, of my right in [announcing] the glad tidings.

¹⁸Inona ary no valim-pitia azoko? Dia izao: raha mitory ny filazantsara aho, dia tsy asiako fandoavam-bola ny filazantsara, mba tsy hanampatra ny fahefako amin'ny filazantsara.

¹⁹For being free from all, I have made myself bondman to all, that I might gain the most [possible].

¹⁹Fa na dia afaka amin'ny olona rehetra aza aho, dia mbola nataoko ho mpanompon'ny olona rehetra ihany ny tenako mba hahazoako maromaro kokoa.

²⁰And I became to the Jews as a Jew, in order that I might gain the Jews: to those under law, as under law, not being myself under law, in order that I might gain those under law:

²⁰Tamin'ny Jiosy, dia tonga toy ny Jiosy aho, mba hahazoako ny Jiosy; tamin'izay ambanin'ny lalàna, dia tonga toy izay ambanin'ny lalàna aho, na dia tsy ambanin'ny lalàna aza aho, mba hahazoako izay ambanin'ny lalàna;

²¹to those without law, as without law, (not as without law to God, but as legitimately subject to Christ,) in order that I might gain [those] without law.

²¹tamin'izay tsy manana lalàna, dia toy izay tsy manana lalàna aho (kanefa tsy mba olona tsy manana lalàna amin'Andriamanitra aho, fa ambanin'ny lalàn'i Kristy), mba hahazoako izay tsy manana lalàna;

²²I became to the weak, [as] weak, in order that I might gain the weak. To all I have become all things, in order that at all events I might save some.

²²tamin'ny malemy dia tonga malemy aho, mba hahazoako ny malemy; efa tonga zavatra rehetra aho amin'ny olona rehetra, mba hamonjeko ny sasany na iza na iza.

²³And I do all things for the sake of the glad tidings, that I may be fellow-partaker with them.

²³Ary izany rehetra izany dia ataoko noho ny filazantsara mba ho tonga mpiombona aminy aho.

²⁴Know ye not that they who run in [the] race-course run all, but one receives the prize? Thus run in order that ye may obtain.

²⁴Tsy fantatrareo va fa izay mihazakazaka eo amin'ny tany fihazakazahana dia samy mihazakazaka avokoa, nefa ny iray ihany no mahazo ny loka? Mihazakazaha toy izany mba hahazoanareo.

²⁵But every one that contends [for a prize] is temperate in all things: *they* then indeed that they may receive a corruptible crown, but *we* an incorruptible.

²⁵Ary ny mpihazakazaka rehetra dia mahonon-tena amin'ny zavatra rehetra. Kanefa ireny dia mitady satro-boninahitra mety ho lò ihany, fa isika kosa ny tsy mety ho lò.

²⁶*I* therefore thus run, as not uncertainly; so I combat, as not beating the air.

²⁶Raha izaho ary, dia mihazakazaka, nefa tsy toy ny manao kitoatoa; ary mamely totohondry aho, nefa tsy toy ny mamely ny rivotra;fa asiako mafy ny tenako ho mangana ka andevoziko, fandrao, na dia efa nitory tamin'ny sasany aza aho, dia holavina kosa ny tenako.

²⁷But I buffet my body, and lead it captive, lest [after] having preached to others I should be myself rejected.
