¹But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that ye should be written to,

¹Fa ny amin'ny andro sy ny fotoana, ry rahalahy, dia tsy misy tokony hosoratako aminareo,

²for ye know perfectly well yourselves, that the day of [the] Lord so comes as a thief by night.

²satria ianareo mahalala marimarina fa ho avy toy ny mpangalatra amin'ny alina ny andron'ny Tompo.

³When they may say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon her that is with child; and they shall in no wise escape.

³Raha misy olona manao hoe: Miadana sy mandry fahizay, dia hanjo azy tampoka ny fandringanana, toy ny fahararian'ny vehivavy raha miteraka, ka tsy ho afa-mandositra mihitsy izy.

⁴But *ye*, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you as a thief:

⁴Fa ianareo, ry rahalahy, tsy ao amin'ny maizina, mba hahatratra anareo toy ny mpangalatra izany andro izany.

⁵for all *ye* are sons of light and sons of day; we are not of night nor of darkness.

⁵Fa ianareo rehetra dia zanaky ny mazava sy zanaky ny andro; tsy an'ny alina na an'ny maizina isika.

⁶So then do not let us sleep as the rest do, but let us watch and be sober;

⁶Koa dia aza mba matory toy ny sasany isika, fa aoka hiambina ka hahonon-tena. [ Gr. hiari-tory]

⁷for they that sleep sleep by night, and they that drink drink by night;

⁷Fa izay matory dia matory amin'ny alina; ary izay mamo dia mamo amin'ny alina.

⁸but *we* being of [the] day, let us be sober, putting on [the] breastplate of faith and love, and as helmet [the] hope of salvation;

⁸Fa satria an'ny andro isika, dia aoka hahonon-tena ka hitafy ny finoana sy ny fitiavana ho fiarovan-tratra, ary ny fanantenana ny famonjena ho fiarovan-doha.

⁹because God has not set us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

⁹Fa Andriamanitra tsy nanendry antsika ho amin'ny fahatezerana, fa mba hahazo famonjena amin'ny alalan'i Jesosy Kristy Tompontsika,

¹⁰who has died for us, that whether we may be watching or sleep, we may live together with him.

¹⁰Izay maty hamonjy antsika, mba hiara-belona aminy isika, na mahatsiaro na matory.

¹¹Wherefore encourage one another, and build up each one the other, even as also ye do.

¹¹Koa mifananara sy mifampahatanjaha, tahaka ny ataonareo ihany.

¹²But we beg you, brethren, to know those who labour among you, and take the lead among you in [the] Lord, and admonish you,

¹²[Fananarana sy fanaovam-beloma] Ary mangataka aminareo izahay, ry rahalahy, mba hekenareo izay mikely aina eo aminareo sy mitondra anareo amin'ny Tompo ary mananatra anareo,

¹³and to regard them exceedingly in love on account of their work. Be in peace among yourselves.

¹³ary mba hohajainareo indrindra amin'ny fitiavana izy noho ny asany. Mihavàna tsara.

¹⁴But we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, comfort the faint-hearted, sustain the weak, be patient towards all.

¹⁴Ary mananatra anareo izahay, ry rahalahy; anaro izay tsy mitoetra tsara; omeo toky ny malemy saina; ampaherezo ny reraka; mandefera amin'ny olona rehetra.

¹⁵See that no one render to any evil for evil, but pursue always what is good towards one another and towards all;

¹⁵Tandremo mba tsy hisy hamaly ratsy olona; fa miezaha mandrakariva hitady izay tsara, na amin'ny namanareo na amin'ny olona rehetra.

¹⁶rejoice always;

¹⁶Mifalia mandrakariva.

¹⁷pray unceasingly;

¹⁷Mivavaha, ka aza mitsahatra.

¹⁸in everything give thanks, for this is [the] will of God in Christ Jesus towards you;

¹⁸Misaora amin'ny zavatra rehetra; fa izany no sitrapon'Andriamanitra ao amin'i Kristy Jesosy ho anareo.

¹⁹quench not the Spirit;

¹⁹Aza mamono ny Fanahy.

²⁰do not lightly esteem prophecies;

²⁰Aza manao tsinontsinona ny faminaniana.

²¹but prove all things, hold fast the right;

²¹Fantaro ny zavatra rehetra; hazòny mafy izay tsara.

²²hold aloof from every form of wickedness.

²²Fadio ny fanao ratsy rehetra.

²³Now the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly: and your whole spirit, and soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁴He [is] faithful who calls you, who will also perform [it].
