¹And I, in the first year of Darius the Mede, I stood to confirm and to strengthen him.

²And now will I declare unto thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall enrich himself with great riches more than all; and when he hath become strong through his riches, he shall stir up all against the realm of Greece.

³And a mighty king shall stand up that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.

³Ary hisy mpanjaka mahery hitsangana, izay hanapaka amin'ny fanapahana lehibe sady hanao araka izay sitrapony.

⁴And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of the heavens; but not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion wherewith he ruled; for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others beside these.

⁵And the king of the south, who is one of his princes, shall be strong; but [another] shall be stronger than he, and have dominion: his dominion shall be a great dominion.

⁶And after the course of years they shall join affinity; and the king's daughter of the south shall come to the king of the north to make equitable conditions: but she shall not retain the strength of her arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm; and she shall be given up, she and they that brought her, and he that begat her, and he that strengthened her in [those] times.

⁷But out of a shoot from her roots shall one stand up in his place, who shall come to the army, and shall enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shew himself mighty.

⁷Fa hisy solofony anankiray avy amin'ny fakany hitsangana handimby azy, ka hihavian'izay ny miaramila, ary hidirany ny fiarovana mafin'ny mpanjakan'ny avaratra, ka hasiany ireo, dia hahery izy.

⁸He shall also carry captive into Egypt their gods, with their princes, and their precious vessels of silver and of gold; and he shall subsist for more years than the king of the north;

⁸Ary ny andriamaniny koa mbamin'ny sarin-javatra an-idina sy ny fanaka tsara ananany, na ny volafotsy na ny volamena, dia hobaboiny avokoa; ary hijanona elaela tsy hamely ny mpanjakan'ny avaratra izy.[Na: haharitra ela noho]

⁹and [the same] shall come into the realm of the king of the south, but shall return into his own land.

⁹Ary ho tonga amin'ny fanjakan'ny mpanjakan'ny atsimo izy, nefa hody any amin'ny taniny ihany.

¹⁰And his sons shall be stirred up, and shall assemble a multitude of great forces; and one shall certainly come, and overflow, and pass through; and he shall return and carry the war even to his fortress.

¹⁰Fa hanomana tafika ny zanany ka hanangona miaramila maro be; dia ho avy tokoa ireo ka hanerana toy ny safotra, rehefa afaka izany, dia hiverina izy, ary hanihiny ihany na dia ny fiarovana mafiny aza.

¹¹And the king of the south shall be enraged, and shall come forth and fight with him, with the king of the north, who shall set forth a great multitude, but the multitude shall be given into his hand.

¹¹Ary dia hisafoaka ny mpanjakan'ny atsimo, ka hivoaka hiady aminy izy, dia amin'ny mpanjakan'ny avaratra, ary izy hanangona maro be; ary ny maro be dia hatolotra ho eo an-tànany.

¹²And when the multitude shall have been taken away, his heart shall be exalted; and he shall cast down myriads; but he shall not prevail.

¹²Ary raha miainga ireo maro be ireo, dia hiavonavona ny fony; ary haharipaka alinalina izy, nefa tsy hahery.

¹³For the king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former; and shall certainly come at the end of the times of years with a great army and with much substance.

¹³Fa hiverina ny mpanjakan'ny avaratra ka hanangona olona maro be mihoatra noho ny teo; ary rehefa afaka ny fe-taona, dia ho avy tokoa izy ka hitondra miaramila maro sy fitaovana betsaka.

¹⁴And in those times shall many stand up against the king of the south; and the violent of thy people will exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall.

¹⁴Ary amin'izany andro izany dia maro no hitsangana hamely ny mpanjakan'ny atsimo; ary ireo loza indrindra amin'ny firenenao dia hanandra-tena hahatò ny fahitana, nefa ho lavo izy.

¹⁵And the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mound, and take the well-fenced city; and the arms of the south shall not withstand, neither his chosen people, for there shall be no strength to withstand.

¹⁵Ka dia ho avy ny mpanjakan'ny avaratra hanandratra tovon-tany hanafaka ny tanàna mimanda; ary na ny sandrin'ny atsimo na ny olom-pidiny dia tsy hahomby, ary tsy hisy hery hahombiazany.

¹⁶And he that cometh against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him; and he shall stand in the land of beauty, and destruction shall be in his hand.

¹⁶Fa izay avy hamely azy dia hanao araka Izay sitrapony, ka tsy hisy hahajanona eo anatrehany; ary izy hijanona ao amin'ny tany mahafinaritra, ary hisy fandringanana eny an-tànany.

¹⁷And he shall set his face to come with the strength of his whole kingdom, and upright ones with him; and he shall practise; and he shall give him the daughter of women, to corrupt her; but she shall not stand, neither shall she be for him.

¹⁷Dia hivonona tsara handeha amin'ny herin'ny fanjakany rehetra izy ka hanao izay hahatsara ny fihavanana; ary homeny ny zanakavavin'ny vehivavy izy ka hahatonga loza aminy; ary tsy hahalavorary razazavavy, na hahasoa azy akory.

¹⁸And he shall turn his face unto the isles, and shall take many; but a captain for his own behalf shall cause the reproach offered by him to cease: he shall turn it upon him, without reproach for himself.

¹⁸Ary hitodika mankany amin'ny nosy izy ka hahalasa be; ary hisy mpanapaka hampitsahatra ny latsa ataony, sady hatsingeriny aminy ny latsa ataony.

¹⁹And he shall turn his face toward the fortresses of his own land; and he shall stumble and fall, and not be found.

¹⁹Dia hitodika hankany, amin'ny fiarovana mafy any amin'ny taniny izy; kanjo ho tafintohina sy ho lavo izy ka tsy ho hita.

²⁰And in his place shall one stand up who shall cause the exactor to pass through the glory of the kingdom; but in a few days he shall be broken, neither in anger nor in battle.

²⁰Ary hitsangana handimby azy indray ny anankiray izay hampandeha mpampiasa ho any amin'izay tsara indrindra amin'ny fanjakany; fa rehefa afaka andro vitsy, dia ho faty io, nefa tsy amin'ny fahatezerana, na amin'ny ady.

²¹And in his place shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom; but he shall come in peaceably and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

²¹Ary hisy olona famingavinga hitsangana handimby io indray, izay tsy homena ny voninahitry ny fanjakana; fa hiditra tsy ampoizina izy ka hahazo ny fanjakana amin'ny fahafetsena,

²²And the overflowing forces shall be overflowed from before him, and shall be broken: yea, also the prince of the covenant.

²³And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully, and he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.

²⁴In time of peace shall he enter even into the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers: he shall scatter among them prey, and spoil, and substance, and he shall plan his devices against the fortified places, even for a time.

²⁵And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall engage in battle with an exceeding great and mighty army; but he shall not stand, for they shall plan devices against him.

²⁵Ary hanaitra ny heriny sy ny fony izy hamely ny mpanjakan'ny atsimo amin'ny miaramila maro; ary ny mpanjakan'ny atsimo kosa hanafika mitondra miaramila maro sady mahery indrindra; nefa tsy hahajanona izy, satria hisy hamoron-tsaina hamely azy.

²⁶And they that eat of his delicate food shall break him, and his army shall be dissolved; and many shall fall down slain.

²⁶Eny, izay homana ny hanina avy aminy ihany no hahalavo azy, ary ny miaramilany hanerana toy ny safotra, sady maro ny faty hiampatrampatra.

²⁷And both these kings' hearts [shall meditate] mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper; for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.

²⁷Ary ny fon'ireo mpanjaka roa ireo dia samy ta-hanao ratsy, ary eo an-databatra iray no hiresahany lainga; nefa tsy hambinina izany; fa ny farany dia ho amin'ny fotoana ihany.

²⁸And he shall return into his land with great substance; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall practise, and return to his own land.

²⁸Ary hiverina ho any amin'ny taniny mitondra harena be izy; koa ny fony dia hanohitra ny fanekena masina; ary hahefa sy hiverina ho any amin'ny taniny izy

²⁹At the set time he shall return, and come towards the south; but not as the former time shall be the latter;

²⁹Amin'ny fotoana dia ho lasa mianatsimo indray izy; nefa ny farany tsy ho toy ny voalohany;

³⁰for ships of Chittim shall come against him; and he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant; and will practise; and he shall return and direct his attention to those that forsake the holy covenant.

³⁰fa ny sambon'i Kitima ho avy namely azy, ka dia ho kivy izy ka hiverina ary hisafoaka amin'ny fanekena masina ka hamely; eny, hiverina izy ka hisaina ny amin'ireo efa mahafoy ny fanekena masina.

³¹And forces shall stand on his part, and they shall profane the sanctuary, the fortress, and shall take away the continual [sacrifice], and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

³¹Ary hisy miaramila hitsangana noho ny teniny ka handoto ny fitoerana masina, dia ny fiarovana mafy, ary hampitsahatra ny fanatitra isan'andro sady hampiditra ny fahavetavetana mahatonga fandravana.[Heb. sandry]

³²And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he pervert by flatteries; but the people that know their God shall be strong, and shall act.

³²Ary izay mivadika ny fanekena dia hambosiny amin'ny fandroboana; fa ny dona izay mahalala an'Andriamaniny kosa dia hifikitra amin'izany ka hankatò azy.[Na: dia hahery ka hahefa]

³³And they that are wise among the people shall instruct the many; and they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, [many] days.

³³Ary izay hendry ao amin'ny olona dia hampianatra ny maro; nefa ho lavon'ny sabatra sy ny lelafo sy ny famaboana ary ny fandrobana elaela ihany izy.

³⁴And when they fall, they shall be helped with a little help; but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.

³⁴Ary rehefa lavo izy, dia hahazo famonjena kely; ary maro no hikambana aminy amin'ny fihatsaram-belatsihy.

³⁵And [some] of the wise shall fall, to try them, and to purge and to make them white, to the time of the end: for it shall yet be for the time appointed.

³⁵Ary hisy ho lavo koa ny manan-tsaina, mba hizahan-toetra sy hanadiovana ary hamotsiana azy ambara-pahatongan'ny andro farany, fa mbola ho amin'ny fotoana ihany izany.

³⁶And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every ùgod, and speak monstrous things against the ùGod of ùgods; and he shall prosper until the indignation be accomplished: for that which is determined shall be done.

³⁶Ary ny mpanjaka hanao araka izay sitrapony; ary hisandratra sy hanandra-tena ho ambonin'ny andriamanitra rehetra izy ka hiteny zavatra mahagaga ny amin'Andriamanitry ny andriamanitra, ary hambinina ihany izy mandra-pahatanteraky ny fahatezerana; fa izay efa voatendry no tsy maintsy hatao.

³⁷And he will not regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women; nor regard any +god: for he will magnify himself above all.

³⁷Ary tsy hahoany akory ny andriamanitry ny razany, na ny fitiavan'ny vehivavy; eny, tsy hahoany akory izay andriamanitra, fa hanandra-tena noho izy rehetra izy.

³⁸And in his place will he honour the +god of fortresses; and a +god whom his fathers knew not will he honour with gold and silver, and with precious stones and pleasant things.

³⁸Fa ny andriamanitry ny fiarovana mafy no hankalazainy hisolo izany; ary volamena sy volafotsy sy vato soa ary zavatra mahafinaritra no ho entiny mankalaza ny andriamanitra izay tsy fantatry ny razany.

³⁹And he will practise in the strongholds of fortresses with a strange +god: whoso acknowledgeth him will he increase with glory; and he shall cause them to rule over the many, and shall divide the land [to them] for a reward.

³⁹Dia homban'ny andriamani-kafa izy ka hamely ny batery mafy indrindra, ary izay manaiky azy dia homeny voninahitra be sady hataony mpanapaka ny maro, ary hozarainy ho azy ny tany ho valim-pitia.

⁴⁰And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him; and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and overflow and pass through.

⁴⁰Ary amin'ny faran'ny andro dia hanoto azy ny mpanjakan'ny atsimo; ary ny mpanjakan'ny avaratra koa ho avy hamely azy toy ny tafio-drivotra ka hitondra kalesy sy mpitaingin-tsoavaly ary sambo maro; ary hiditra amin'ny tany izy ka hanerana toy ny safotra.

⁴¹And he shall enter into the land of beauty, and many [countries] shall be overthrown; but these shall escape out of his hand: Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

⁴¹Hiditra ao amin'ny tany mahafinaritra koa izy, ary maro no ho ripaka; fa izao kosa no ho afa-mandositra ny tànany: Edoma sy Moaba ary ireo lohan'ny taranak'i Amona.

⁴²And he shall stretch forth his hand upon the countries; and the land of Egypt shall not escape.

⁴²Haninjitra ny tànany amin'ny tany sasany koa izy; ary ny tany Egypta tsy ho afa-mandositra.

⁴³And he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

⁴³Fa hahalasa ny rakitra volamena sy volafotsy ary ny zava-tsoan'i Egypta rehetra izy; ary ny Libyana sy ny Etiopiana hanaraka azy.

⁴⁴But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him; and he shall go forth with great fury to exterminate, and utterly to destroy many.

⁴⁴Fa hisy siosion-teny avy any atsinanana sy avy any avaratra haharaiki-tahotra azy, ka dia hivoaka amin'ny fahatezerana be izy handrava sy handringana maro.Ary haoriny eo anelanelan'ny ranomasina sy ny tendrombohitra masina mahafinaritra ny trano-lainy izay lapany; nefa ho tonga ao amin'ny hiafarany ihany izy, ka tsy hisy hamonjy azy.

⁴⁵And he shall plant the tents of his palace between the sea and the mountain of holy beauty; and he shall come to his end, and there shall be none to help him.

⁴⁵Ary haoriny eo anelanelan'ny ranomasina sy ny tendrombohitra masina mahafinaritra ny trano-lainy izay lapany; nefa ho tonga ao amin'ny hiafarany ihany izy, ka tsy hisy hamonjy azy.
